    • seems like a good plan
I like the concept of smaller tubes inside of larger tubes. These can be changed each year by pulling out the small tubes with the hatching pupae and at the same time replaced by new small tubes for egg laying. The overlap was always a problem for me. To clean the tubes for new egg laying killed many pupae. I don't like that I cannot purchase more small tubes to carry out the plan at this time. Perfect for my bee house which needed 5/16" tubes. However, because they are tubes-within-tubes, I had to drill the holes 3/8" in diameter to accommodate the larger diameter outside tubes. And this required spacing the holes a bit further apart and applying thin plywood behind the hole-drilled board to keep it from splitting as a result of all the drilling. ... show more

Very durable, preferred by both - I have had 15 already filled tubes this spring already, only 2 of my natural reeds were used by the mason bees & leafcutter bees.

I built some Bug Houses this past Fall and the tubes will be used for the bees and the ladybugs to make their home. The tubes can be pushed out and new tubes pushed back in once a year.

    • Inserts are hard to put into tube.
The inserts are very hard to put into the tubes. Some of the tubes were just a little smished which made it even more difficult to insert the liner.
