  • Peace of Mind for a First Time Parent
The Masimo Stork vitals+ baby monitor delivers on it's quest to give parent's peace of mind, with vitals tracking backed by a leader in healthcare. Over the last few months, since we brought my son, Art, home from the hospital, we've relied on an Infant Optics monitor. However, with him moving to his own nursery, we wanted something that could monitor more than video. When we started researching smart monitors, we looked in depth at Owlet and Nanit. It seemed that Owlet was a strong choice, although all of the reviews mentioning false alarms and the sock falling off sounded like a nightmare. When we were going to pull the trigger, my wife saw that Masimo was launching a monitor. As a NICU nurse, she immediately recognized the company as the maker of the pulse oxygen sensor she uses at work. Masimo Stork became a no-brainer for us. When we researched the product online, I was very impressed with the high-resolution camera (I thought Infant Optics was the best) and was excited to have my wife explain to me all of my son's vitals. I was a bit concerned with the boot, as it looked like it may not be comfortable for my son. When the package arrived, I was very impressed with the packaging and artwork. To my pleasant surprise, the bootie was soft to touch and incredibly adorable (Art doesn't seem to mind wearing it at all). The main issue we had was getting it on Art's foot the first time as he was a bit squeemish. However, every time after we haven't had an issue. Just takes a bit of practice. A few specifics: 1. The camera is amazing. The night time resolution is great, with the zoom feature, I can even see if Art's eyes are open or not. The camera was a bit heavier than infant optics, but I really appreciated the cord management tools and was able to mount it with ease. 2. The metrics are great, my wife has explained Art's pulse oxygen rate to me, and it is fun to link up his vitals to the video to see what was going on when his heart rate or other things spike. I've become a bit of a nerd on wearable tech recently, and it was interesting to know that Art's monitor is signficiantly more accurate than my Apple Watch and Whoop. 3. We are definitely going to buy a second sensor, so we can monitor 24/7. Like I said, he doesn't mind wearing the bootie, so why not keep an eye on him. So far, the battery hasn't been an issue when he sleeps / naps through the day. It charges in ~ 1 hour. The price point is definitely a bit higher than most monitors, but for any parent who is restless while their baby sleeps (and we try to sleep), it is definitely worth the investment. It's basically the cost of 1 night's sleep at a nice hotel (and so far Stork has helped me sleep better each night). Consider it an investment for the parent and the baby :) Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Does not work. DO NOT BUY!!
Worst purchase I have made for baby. I was hoping this would be a better option compared to the Owlet because it was made by Masimo. I am extremely disappointed. Boot does not read correctly. You do not get notified for low O2 sat or heart rate… What good is a monitor that doesn’t alert you? Majority of the time it won’t even connect. The boot I think is also a lot less functional than what the owlet sock would be. Very very disappointed. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!! ... show more

  • Really impressed!
We're first-time parents so we're looking for all the hacks. This has been by far one of our favorites. Nice to find a monitoring system we can trust. This thing is essentially NICU-level monitoring at home. The system is easy to use, camera quality is excellent and although we were initially hesitant to get the boot, the peace of mind it gives is well worth the expense! Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Horrid
Awful. Never stayed connected and had latency so badly I could watch my baby’s first time rolling over, twice.

  • Good image quality, poor connectivity
it is superior in image quality and there are some decent features, but the app appears to be hastily put together. When I was talking potential employment at Masimo back in 2019, there was only 1 iOS developer there, so it's understandable. One fundamental flaw is that the camera disconnects in the dark. I don't quite understand why. ... show more

  • Great video capabilities and hardware
I'm really impressed with the materials that the camera and the boot are made out of. They are both really quality pieces of equipment that I trust will last over time. The video capabilities are also a big plus; you are able to zoom in, zoom out, pan right-left, and you can take screen shots from the app. I like the temperature and moisture readings in the app; our room tends to have big temperature changes and this allows us to have more control over the room setting especially when we go to sleep. As for the boot, I think that the technology really is impressive. It seemed to give accurate readings for O2 saturation, heart rate, and temperature and we didn't have any false alarm issues. However, we just didn't find it necessary to track this information at all times. We had a few issues when first logging into the app and I think that this is where this product can be improved. ... show more

  • Good monitor
Got this for my first baby and works great so far! Was easy to set up and has good camera quality. Excited to try out the boot when baby arrives!

  • Boot constantly looses connection from camera hub
Boot uses Bluetooth to connect to camera as a hub. Camera and boot were 3 feet apart and yet it would loose connection constantly; sounding alarms and rendering the device useless and frustrating.
