Features

  • YOUR BABY'S NURSERY STAYS COMPLETELY PRIVATE: The VM819 never connects to WiFi, the internet, or any cloud - it transmits exclusively via encrypted 2.4GHz FHSS technology directly between the camera and your parent unit, so only you can see and hear your baby
  • SEE EVERY DETAIL, DAY AND NIGHT, WITHOUT ENTERING THE ROOM: The 2.8-inch LCD delivers a real-time view with no streaming delay - infrared night vision activates automatically when the nursery gets dark, and 2x digital zoom lets you check on your newborn in close detail without disturbing them
  • WAKE UP ONLY WHEN YOUR BABY NEEDS YOU: Sound-Activated Screen Mode keeps the parent unit dark and quiet when the nursery is silent, then turns on automatically the moment your baby stirs - adjustable VOX sensitivity and a 3-level sound indicator help you set the right threshold for your baby's sleep patterns
  • MONITOR ALL NIGHT WITHOUT REACHING FOR A CHARGER: The 2,600mAh rechargeable battery delivers up to 19 hours of continuous video streaming - or up to 29 hours of audio-only monitoring - on a single charge, so one nightly charge covers overnight and into the next morning
  • SOOTHE YOUR BABY AND KNOW THEY'RE COMFORTABLE WITHOUT GOING IN: Two lullabies and two ambient sounds (white noise and trickling stream) play directly from the camera unit, 2-way talkback lets your baby hear your voice, and the nursery temperature sensor alerts the parent unit the moment the room needs adjusting

  • 10/10 Recommend
Set name: 2.8" 1 Cam
This product is incredible, my baby is 11 months old now and we have been using it every single day for 11 months with no decline in its abilities. We use it every single night, and during the day for our baby’s naps. We have never had any connection issues, it is not connected to the Wi-Fi so it can always work. The battery life is still incredible, I don’t think I’ve ever lost battery even when I accidentally leave it on all day. I keep it plugged in all night too. I like the small screen, you can fit it in your pocket and even go garden outside with it, and the connection still stays. I think the only negative I have found is that if the power goes out it doesn’t work. Because the physical camera needs to be plugged in. So unless you’re in an area that gets power outages all the time, I highly recommend this product. We bought a second one just to throw in our diaper bag, so that when we visit family or go out of town, we just have a second one ready to set up in any room at all times. As for the image quality, I find it perfectly fine. If you are an insanely anxious parent and need to be able to see the physical air come in and out of your baby’s nostrils, it probably is not high-quality enough for you. I could usually see my baby breathing if I looked long/hard enough. But mainly it’s just good at seeing how your baby is shifting around, and the microphone is incredibly good so you can absolutely hear when the baby is crying or rustling around. It definitely has night vision, I can totally see my baby at night in the dark. I do wish I could switch between night and day vision sometimes, because every so often (usually in the pack n play with the White mesh) it gets confused and switches it to the wrong setting and then I have trouble seeing my baby. ... show more

  • Saved My Baby.
Set name: 2.8" 1 Cam
So many things on my baby registry I wound up not utilizing much. That is NOT the case with this v-tech baby monitor. There just are not enough good things to say. Very easy to set up. Visual quality is great, audio is great. Here is my favorite feature: the temperature. This feature and monitor SAVED my baby. We had just moved into a new house and I was taking an afternoon nap with her. I hear an awful siren in the next room over and over and wake up. It is the baby monitor from out in the living room letting me know that the bedroom we are sleeping in is 76 degrees and climbing. Lo and behold- we have *terrible* insulation in our bedroom which leads to overheating even during the winter. This feature has gone off FAITHFULLY every time our room is too hot so that I know to crank the AC way down and stay up to make sure our baby doesn’t overheat. I would buy this monitor over and over and over again. ... show more

  • Avoid the VM819
Set name: 2.8" 1 Cam
The VM819 model has surprisingly poor range, with audio cutting in and out for seconds at a time just a short distance away. The PTZ version (VM923), on the other hand, has outstanding range thanks to external antennas on each end, better than anything else I've tested. (Though the PTZ camera is larger, in case that's a consideration.) Any successor to the VM819 really should adopt the external antennas of the VM923. Unfortunately, the parent unit for the VM923 (not interchangeable with the VM819's) allows only panning with the hard buttons, requiring a trip through the (very slow) menu to adjust the volume. (In contrast, the VM819 uses the hard buttons for volume and brightness.) This really should have been configurable on the VM923 parent unit. This was the deal-breaker for me, since I nearly never need to aim the camera and frequently need to adjust the volume (and I need better range than the VM819). I ended up going with the Babysense V24R, with sensible button layout and excellent range (somewhat less than the VM923, but far better than VM819), and a more compact parent unit. Both the VM819 and VM923 have a non-replaceable battery in the parent unit and have an extremely slow UI, taking several seconds to toggle the display off to monitor audio only. (This made adjusting volume on the VM923 even worse.) Also, as others have noted, the alert tone when the parent unit loses signal is *extremely* loud, no matter your selected volume. These are all better on the V24R. That said, when in range, the VM819 and VM923 video and audio are fine, and the camera and display both work well. ... show more

  • Reliable Eyes and Ears When Babysitting My Granddaughter
Set name: 2.8" 1 Cam
As a grandfather who watches a toddler granddaughter a couple of days a week, having a dependable baby monitor is essential. The VTech VM819 turned out to be a terrific choice for our needs. The setup was literally plug-and-play. The camera and the parent unit were already paired out of the box – I just positioned the camera on a shelf in the nursery and turned on the handheld monitor. Instantly I had a clear view of the crib on the 2.8-inch color screen. The size of the screen is actually just right for me; it’s compact enough to carry around (fits in my pocket if needed) but large enough that I can see my granddaughter’s chest rising and falling to know she’s sleeping soundly. The night vision mode automatically kicks in when the lights go out, and I’m impressed with how clearly I can see her even in a pitch-black room. It’s a gentle infrared, so there’s no red glow or any light to disturb her – completely stealth. One of the standout features for me is the battery life on the parent unit. On days I’m babysitting, I’ll have the monitor on and clipped to my belt for hours while I do chores during her nap. This thing easily lasts through a long 3+ hour nap with battery to spare, which is fantastic because I don’t have to be tethered to an outlet. VTech advertises up to 19 hours of audio-only mode, and I believe it – I’ve certainly gotten a full day’s use without anxiously watching the battery bar. The range is great too. I’ve taken the monitor with me out to our backyard while she was asleep upstairs (probably 50-60 feet and through several walls) and the connection stayed solid with no drop-outs. It’s liberating to know I can water the garden or step into the garage and still keep an eye on her. Audio quality is clear in both directions. Yes, it has two-way talk, which has been a cute feature – sometimes if she stirs and I’m on my way to her room, I’ll softly speak through the monitor, “Grandpa’s coming, sweetie,” and I see her calm down slightly hearing a familiar voice. There are also built-in lullabies and even a little temperature sensor that shows the nursery temp on my unit. I mostly use the basic functions, but I did test the lullabies; they’re sweet and not too tinny-sounding. You can trigger them from the parent unit which is neat. Any cons? Not major ones. If I’m being picky, the 2.8" screen, while adequate for me, might feel small to some folks who are used to smartphone-sized displays. But the trade-off is the better battery life due to that smaller screen. Also, it’s not a Wi-Fi or app-based system, which I actually prefer for simplicity and security, but that means I can’t check the camera when I’m away from home. For me that’s fine – I only need it when I’m actually on baby duty. In terms of reliability and peace of mind, this monitor scores high. No frills that complicate things, just solid performance. I can relax in the evenings watching TV and see the monitor on the coffee table showing a snoozing little girl, and that assurance is priceless. It’s one less thing for this grandpa to worry about when I’m in charge. ... show more

  • Almost four years- perfect baby monitoring system
Set name: 2.8" 2 Cams
This monitor gets better and better with life. First and foremost- no wifi- so easy to use when visiting. Very long range and battery life. Has two cameras, both work very well in the day (color) and night (black and white). You can shut the video feed off and just use as a sound monitor. If you have the volume all the way down you can still monitor the sound with an audio indicator light that has two colors (changes with intensity). The zoom feature gives you a visual under low light conditions. You can also speak into the monitor and your voice will come out of the camera speaker. Music can also come out of the camera. Finally, if you use two cameras at once you can monitor both or one at a time. Totally brilliant system, secure, good battery life, and very durable. Don’t think twice- this is the brand and model you want. Price is right too. ... show more

  • Reliable Monitor With a Large Screen and No Wi-Fi Hassles
Set name: 7" 1 Cam
We wanted a baby monitor that didn't rely on Wi-Fi, and this one checks all the boxes. The 7-inch screen is large and easy to see, even from across the room. The video quality is clear during the day, and the night vision works well after dark. Features like two-way talk, temperature monitoring, lullabies, and sound-activated screen mode are very useful for everyday use. The range has been dependable around the house, and the battery life is good for overnight monitoring. Overall, it's a solid monitor for parents who want a simple, reliable setup without connecting to the internet ... show more

I love the size of the screen and that is super simple to use . It automatically connects so all you have to do is plug it in . The camera isn’t the best. It’s very dark even in the night mode . The sound works well it will even pick up our fan which our other monitor didn’t , it’s a good thing and a bad thing because I constantly hear the fan going while the monitor is on but I know if my baby wakes up I’ll hear it . ... show more
