The media could not be loaded. I chose this winder because it said it could wind large cakes. I've tried 8 through 16 ounces in this winder and give it a 0/5 for all functions. I've lost multiple yards of yarn having to cut out the mess it created. It will be going well and then suddenly it starts wrapping at the bottom of the cone. At that point you can choose to remove what has been done and start over (leading to massive yarn puke) or continue knowing you will have to remind it all again.. while still dealing with knots and tangles from where it overlapped the cake funky. I've had it less than a day and while trying to get a decent cake it has started to have issues just spinning normally (shown in the video). It jerks and stops as if there is too much tension but changing the tension does nothing. The few times I thought I had a decent cake I pulled it off only to find unwound random yarn strands on the bottom (as seen in the picture). I wanted to love this so badly but it's unusable.

I would recommend this product. The only thing I have found is that it can slow down when you have tension on the yarn

Yarn winder abruptly stopped after two uses. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS YARN WINDER. Since it’s something you won’t use everyday, you could have it for over a month, and want to use it again just to find as I did, it no longer works. I purchased this yarn winder August 30th of 2023. Last night in the middle of winding my first skein of yarn, it just abruptly stopped working. The cone would not spin, the motor just hummed. When I contacted Amazon, I’m informed I no longer have the option to return for a replacement. I paid $85.39 (including tax), for an item that only worked for one month, one week, and now they tell me I have no repercussions for a faulty product because it lasted a week longer then their policy allowed. I am 74 yrs old, I have lots of experience in yarn winding, I am not rough with my tools, and I would expect them to last longer then a month. Perhaps there should be something in their policy for products such as this to at least be replaced if it defaults within a 3 month period. I wasn’t asking for my money back, I was asking for a replacement. That’s a lot of money to throw out the window, especially in todays world of this horrible economy.

This would be a great product if there was product support and part replacements. I need a whole new cone and gear for the top, while the motor still runs well.
