Mann lake is always a good bet for beekeeping supplies. I got 2, should have got 4 or 5 before price went up. Still a decent deal, but $180 was a steal! Been doing business with mann lake over 15 years. Occasionally a mistake, but their customer service is great and they always make it right.

Update: 06/17/2021 I was contacted by Mann lake who wanted to offer a resolution. The company offered a partial refund for the defective product. While I am happy they finally decided to respond and apologize for the issues I wish it would have been that way from the beginning. I have raised my review to 3 stars because the company was willing to offer a solution. Maybe in the future I might try their products again in hopes of a change in quality. Update: 06/17/2021 I contacted Mann lake about the poor quality of the products and included pictures. No apologies or resolutions offered by the company, they just beat around the bush instead of fixing the problems and ask for more pictures even though I have already sent pictures and added them to this review. I did a little research around the web (google/YouTube) and found out the gapping issue is very common from this company. They also insist that I change my feedback/review of this product even though they haven’t done anything to even try and fix issues. So at this time I would never recommend this company and I advise everyone else to stay away. There are plenty of other manufacturers out there for bee supplies some with cheaper prices for better quality products. Too bad this company couldn’t resolve the issues and put out quality products, I may have stuck around. Goodbye Mann lake, I won’t be back and I will spread the word to others to avoid. Update: 06/12/2021 I decided to go ahead and assemble this kit so that I would have it on hand as I need pieces. While assembling I ran into multiple issues. First major issue is a gapping condition that exists on all of the hive bodies. On most of them the gap is caused by the end pieces being slightly taller (1/8” + on some) causing an overall gap between 1/8 to almost 1/4” between the hive bodies. The gaps are a major issue for colder weather because they allow cold air and moisture in when the bees are overwintering and could potentially kill an entire colony. They also cause and issue due to the fact that they allow rain to seep in. Small hive beetles can also easily get through the cracks. There are also gaps between some of the box joints causing the same issues. The next big issue I ran into was the pre drilled pilot holes on the box joint fingers. The pilot holes are drilled too far inward causing the nails to shoot out the inside of the box this will cause pre mature rot and other issues. The pieces do arrive with multiple chips, dents, scratches and other cosmetic imperfections. This may seem over critical but it not only takes time and effort to assemble these boxes it also takes more time to go back and try to fix what shouldn’t have existed in the first place. Beekeeping is an expensive hobby and paying hundreds of dollars for poor quality that will not last is not something I or any other beekeepers I know want to do. I needed these hives to add to a few smaller hives. They ended up being a week late which is way to long during swarm season I needed to act quick. I had to end up buying hives from a local supplier and now these are just sitting around. Not happy. I wasted over $400 on hives that will sit around, sure I’ll eventually use them but I didn’t need to spend $800 on hives right now. ... show more
