  • Great light weight travel tripod with bonus monopod function.
Pattern Name: Tripod Style: 2 in 1 - Lever Black
Great compact travel tripod (with bonus monopod function)! I already own a heavy duty tripod for my big telephoto lenses, but I found I would avoid using it for things like macro or landscape photography because it weighs so much and is awkward to attach to my backpacks because of its length. This tripod is so light weight and compact, it fits great on my backpack and I barely notice its there. While it technically has a weight capacity rating that can hold my big telephoto lens, I dont recommend it for those. Since the legs are thinner, it gets pretty top heavy and wobbly with that much weight on it, but it handles my smaller lenses no problem (which is what I got it for anyway). The included ball head is nice and sturdy and allows for quick readjustment. It has a adjustable friction setting you can change depending on your camera's/len's weight. This ball head is designed with cutouts for the tripod's legs as the tripod collapses by folding the legs up/inverted with the head in between them to save space. Just be aware if you swap the ball head for a different one, the legs might not close as compact as before depending on the shape. You could still collapse the legs downward in that situation if needed, but that will add a few inches to the height of the collapsed tripod as the head would not be inside the legs anymore. Probably not a problem for most people considering this tripod's small footprint, but wanted to point that out just in case. Overall, great compact tripod if you need a travel friendly one. ... show more

  • HUGE improvement!
Pattern Name: Tripod Style: GT - Twist Black
I'd been using a rickety old tripod my father bought at a yardsale for $5. It works, but the joints wobble (bad design even when new) and it could never quite match the camera lense to my height (6'2"), so I found myself sometimes propping it on small objects to give the same vantage point. I put a Manfrotto bottom plate on there and installed the top plate on every camera I own including the GoPro, so at least popping on a camera was easy. Because I grew to love the Manfrotto system so much, I looked into their tripods and got the tubular aluminum version. I really like it. Not such a fan of the "M" latch. I think the brass pin is easier than trying to lower a plastic tab with one hand, but it is doable with practice. The legs and joints are so much more sturdy than my old aluminum tripod, yet about the same weight. On weight- comparing aluminum vs. carbon fiber, I see very little reason not to go with the aluminum. It can raise the camera a whole length farther than my old one as well. I was a little annoyed by the beefy stiffness of the joints, but found this could be fine tuned by backing each of the three screws out about 1/2 turn from tight. By fullying removing only two of the three screws at a time and dabbing their tips in blue Loctite, I was able to get the threadlocking done on all three in an assembled state. I then toyed with exact leverage until the frictions were just right. I like the microphone stand style leg tightening as well, but find myself forgetting which way is which. Again, will just take practice. ... show more

  • Perfect
Pattern Name: Tripod Style: Twist Lock - Black
It’s perfect for carrying when out for the day shooting photos. The carrying bag makes it easy to haul around and has a great look to it. I put a Pentax 6x7 with 135 mm lens on it and it held up nicely. It is one of their thinner smaller models so keep that in mind when shopping. I think the 6x7 and lens was pushing the envelope. ... show more

  • A good value tripod
Pattern Name: Tripod Style: Level Lock - Black
After a lot of research, I chose this as my travel tripod for general travel, but also for backcountry landscape photography. It may not be as light as the carbon fiber options out there, but it also costs a lot less than those. It packs up small enough for me to secure it to a daypack. I like the lever locks on the leg segments rather than twist locks. From my initial use, it seems quite sturdy and the ball head locks up tightly. It supports my full-frame DSLR easily. I haven’t used the stability hook since conditions have not yet required it. The one thing I dislike is that I couldn’t get Manfrotto’s Arca Swiss compatible mount at the time of purchase. I had to get it as a separate purchase. So, now I have a Manfrotto quick-release mount that I will never use because my PeakDesign capture clips are not compatible with it. I would have preferred saving $50 by having the option for the Arca Swiss mount when I bought the tripod. My report on durability will obviously have to wait until I’ve used it a bit more. ... show more

  • Best tripod I’ve ever used!
Pattern Name: Tripod Style: Level Lock - Black
I was so tired of cheap tripods from Best Buy and Target breaking after a week of use I decided to try something more expensive. Turns out, it was 110% worth it. This tripod is so easy to use, super sturdy, adjustments are as smooth as butter, and so well made. It’s a bit heavy, but that just tells me it’s quality material! It folds down pretty small too compared to its full size! This has become one of my most essential tools in filming. If you are taking the first step into bringing your camera game up, get this tripod! ... show more

  • Convenient twist leg latches, same ball head as series 055
Pattern Name: Tripod Style: GT - Twist Black
The GT-twist same ball head as the 055 (40% more expensive) and 190 (23%) more expensive. Convenient twist leg latches that work from any angle instead of the 1-position tabs. Great balance between strength, weight and sturdiness. It came with the nice quick release latch, but for my Nikon Z fc (retro) I'll need to file the plate some in order to be able to use the battery/SD card door while the latch plate is on. Small issue considering the universal plate. ... show more

  • Extremely well made, solid tripod
Pattern Name: Tripod Style: Twist Lock - Black
I am using this tripod with my Nikon D800 with a 200-500mm ED lens and a Neewer gimbal head. It is a very solid platform, that is lightweight enough to easily transport to where it's needed. The head that's provided is also very made (I'm using it on another tripod with my Canon 70D and 100-400mm L lens. All around great purchase of a very good quality tripod. ... show more
