Description

504X fluid video head is the evolution of the hugely successful 504HD. It's a more compact and lighter version that finally comes with flat base (base diameter 75 mm), developed to meet the needs of the most demanding videographers. The head is made from a brand-new catching aluminium design, and has a maximum payload of 26.4 lbs. Utilising Manfrotto’s new fluid technology, the head allows you to capture judder-free smooth motion pans and tilts. It's never been easier for the operator to create premium-quality video capture, thanks to a 4-step counterbalance system which can carry payloads of up to 14.3 lbs at 55mm C.0.G. That makes using a wide range of different cameras easier and more practical. Two easy link 3/8" thread connections allow an external monitor or other accessory equipment to be fitted on the head side. On the left side there is a cap cover on the 3/8” easy link connector to avoid cutting during usage. The sliding-plate side-lock attachment enables quicker set up of the camera, keeping video equipment stable and balanced. Head leveling is simple thanks to the clever backlit levelling bubble.

Wish I could give it minus one star. Hoping that I got a severely defective unit. Fluid drag knob popped off even though I wasn't even adjusting it. Pan lock doesn't lock the pan tight enough for me to remove the head from my tripod. When I try to unscrew it, it just spins. (this was the case out of the box) Only used it a handful of times, very lightly A big heavy waste of money. ... show more

    • Big mistake
I’ve used manfrotto heads for years because the price to quality ratio was always great, until now. This is the worst head I’ve ever used. Not enough tilt resistance even when fully cranked. I essentially use this for stationary shots now. Very dissatisfied.

    • Excellent Video Head
The media could not be loaded. The Manfrottoo 504X is a very good redesign of the original 504. The 504X is slightly lighter, more ergonomic, and some better qualities. Right off the bat they relocated the pan lock to the back of the unit versus having to reach to the front center which was very awkward. The pan drag resistance is right under the pan lock on the left, easily accessible and easily turntable. The counter balance is on the right side, easy to get to, easy to use. It has 4 settings that fits most weight variants in camera/optic gear. The quick release plate is now an angled drop and click versus the slide and lock from the back. This redesign is faster and more on par with professional quick release plates on much more expensive heads. Being a flat head, the 504X has more versatility to it, like using it with more equipment like sliders, etc. The 504X can make some slight noises here and there as the drag/counter balance systems are initiated whether when you first start using them or if the head has been sitting for a while and then used again. Nothing good sound editing can’t get rid of. The 504X does take some proper getting to know it to get it all right, so you get the benefits of all its features, i.e., properly balancing your gear before even using any of the drag resistance or counter balance then utilizing the counter balance, tilt/pan drag resistance and tilt/pan locks all within proper symmetry of your given weight of your optical gear. Overall, unless you are made of money and willing to fork out $1,000.00s for Very Exorbitant makes of video heads then the MANFROTTO 504X is a Very hard to beat for this level of Quality at such a decent price! ... show more

I had professional tripod for almost 10 years and it still work very well, but I decided to get this one , and after almost 20 days and obe job this head broken, the Quality is so cheap and I don’t recommend at all
