This thing is great. I wish I just bit the bullet and got this thing earlier. I got a shopvac (Ridgid brand but you know what I mean) and it had a detachable top part that could be used as a blower. I figured I could use it as an electric leaf blower and a shopvac....which I never did + the shopvac is always in the basement = not convenient to use as a blower. Then I got the Toro leaf vac/blower to vacuum up leaves and figured that'd be easier to use as a blower + a vac. It works but it's a pain to get out the 100ft 12awg extension cord every time I want to just do a quick cleanup w/the blower function. Finally got the Makita blower (I already had Makita 18v tools + batteries) but still got two of the 5Ah batteries since this thing drains them quickly. I only had the older 3Ah batteries and wanted to get more runtime. It works great, is well balanced w/the batteries on it, and the tube on the front can be shortened or extended depending on how you connect it (pretty genius setup really). I didn't get a gas blower b/c I didn't want one more small engine to take care of + get the mixed fuel, etc. This Makita one has all the advantages of the gas and the electric, only slight downside is battery life. The battery life has been fine for all the jobs I've had/quick cleanups. I gave it 4 stars for battery life since it definitely drains them quickly, but this isn't really a downside. Give me all the power you can and I'll manage the battery run-time. Also it has an adjustable power-level dial which helps battery life if you don't need full blast. The trigger is not speed sensitive (just on/off) but b/c its battery powered, you can easily pulse the trigger on/off to attenuate the power as well. ***EDIT*** The trigger is speed sensitive, so that combined with the adjustable power-level dial makes it very easy to modulate airflow It is so quick and convenient to use that I find myself using it almost daily to clear grass clippings, clear the back deck real quick, etc. I also use it when I'm doing projects, clear sawdust out of the garage or off the miter saw, circular saw, etc. If you have a huge yard or want all-day runtime, get the gas powered Stihl backpack blower - this isn't designed to compete with that use-case. If you want to keep your deck, garage, patio/patio furniture, front walk clean, this is the ticket. It is so easy + convenient to use that you'll find yourself using it lots! ... show more

After years with an ear-splitting backpack Echo, making the neighbors hate me, this unit is an elegant and quiet solution. The 2-battery setup adds weight, and the blower doesn't ship with a cornucopia of attachments. But the switch-gear could not be simpler and the tool makes my yard cleanup way easier than before. Makita may not be the top-rated blower out there - but it's compatible with the batteries on my string-trimmer and does its job very well. And to repeat, I couldn't believe how quiet this thing is, even at full-blast. Can't speak to battery life yet. No issues so far. ... show more

Great, heavy-duty Cordless Blower... just be aware that it's Heavy. Unless you have super strong arms and wrists, you'll be constantly juggling from one hand to another. I searched, and could not find any kind of shoulder strap that looked like it would work for this model. Why Makita doesn't supply or offer an optional Strap made for this blower is puzzling - as they would likely sell a ton... The other issue is Battery Life. This 36v model takes 2 - 18v 5.0 ah batts, and the blower kit I purchased came with 2 batteries. After the initial charging of the 2 batteries, I was able to use the blower for about 30 minutes, on less than 1/2 of my large driveway which was loaded with pinecones and leaves. Depending on your needs and the velocity used to move leaves, etc, your battery mileage may differ, but it ended up taking me well over 1.5 hours ( not counting the down-time waiting for both batteries to re-charge ) to finish the 130 ft plus driveway as well as a small walkway. I would highly recommend that anyone who has more than a small yard and has to move heavier leaves and pinecones, invest in the Makita Blower kit that includes 4 batteries - it will save you time... that is unless you don't mind spending the better part of an afternoon doing a half hours worth of yard work. Yes, I still gave this blower 5-stars. Compared to the wimpy gas blower I have that sometimes refuses to start, the cordless, powerful Makita is well worth the few minor issues. In fact, you could even say "It Blows"! ... show more

I had been convinced that battery powered tools are not a worthy purchase for many years. However, I did want to try a non gas powered blower that wasn't corded (which is, to me, a super frustrating way of working). I did lots of research and came to this product. Makita has always been a reliable brand for me so I thought it would be the most likely to deliver and it really does!! It requires both batteries that comes with the blower so it is a little bit on the heavier side if you are concerned about weight. It has two different length nozzle attachments, adjustable depending on your height comfort level. The Makita batteries and charging stations are very durable and well made. The blower is very powerful. It has an easy one-finger reach to the power settings, requiring very little effort. The lowest setting will get light materials off while leaving the rest and the heaviest setting even got wet grass off of the sidewalk. It may be ever so slightly less powerful than a gas powered blower but not by much and this is much easier on the ears. The battery lasts a LONG time for me. It is used on a medium sized yard for a single-family home and I've gotten two large projects and every day general use for a week out of one single charge. You can also conveniently check both battery's charge directly on the tool with one button press! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a battery powered blower. It may be a slight reduction in power (not much) but it sure gets the job done! Love it! Side note: No gas, there is no mess! The blower is as clean as the day I bought it! ... show more
