  • Great Blower
Pattern Name: Blower
I purchased this in April and waited until December to post this review. I wanted to have a chance to put it through it's paces before rendering judgement. Assembly was fairly easy. I read that some folks had difficulty assembling the plastic blower tubing. I agree, they are tight. I assembled mine inside on a sunny day so I set the female end of the tubes in the sun for a few minutes. The black plastic expanded enough to make the pieces slip together easily. I imagine a hair dryer would probably have the same effect. This blower is much easier to use than the old handheld model it replaced. It's 26 lb weight is no problem. I find the easiest way to put it on is to set it on something at least as high as a table. The workbench in my garage works great. I haven't been able to just pick it up and slip it on like a backpack. The unit starts on the second pull every time and runs as well on regular as it does on premium. Another reviewer mentioned needing to buy fresh gas before each use. This hasn't been a problem for me. It uses the same mixture as a my trimmer and chain saw so I initially filled it up from a 2 gallon can at least 3 months old. A few presses on the primer, set the throttle and choke and two pulls later it's running. Same thing every time, even when the temperature dropped into the thirties. This blower is no noisier than any other as far as I can tell. However, the engine is less than a foot away from my ears so I always wear earplugs and muffs. My hearing is bad enough that I don't need to take any chances. One of the reasons I bought this one was for the extra vibration dampening. It must work since I haven't had a problem with fatigue, even after 1.5 hours of constant use. This thing has plenty of power. It blows leaves and other lawn debris like a champ. Once I figured out the technique I could move some pretty big leaf piles. It even blows acorns well. My only complaint is that the primer bulb is well hidden. Not a big deal, I just wish it was a little more accessible. Overall I'm very happy with the blower and would definitely recommend it to others. 2020 Update: I am still happy with the blower. It continues to start on the second pull just like when it was new. ... show more

  • 13 years and counting!
Pattern Name: Blower
I was window shopping on Amazon to see where the technology was in terms of battery powered backpack blowers and happened to stumble on this with the notation in the listing "last purchased November 2011." I recently gave up on an old Stihl string trimmer and went Makita electric -- the 36 volt model. Also went to Makita hedger -- 18 volt model. Not that I have anything against 2 stroke or gas equipment, it's just I needed something that started easily and the Stihl was way past its prime and for a residential setting the electric is plenty of power and keeps the noise down as well. Was just curious as to where these backpack blowers were in terms of electric powered. Anyway, time does fly but this blower is truly one of the best purchases I made. Others have written detailed reviews so I won't go back over them, I just wanted to let everyone know that this blower is still going strong after 13 years and starts on the second or third pull every time. Its comfortable to wear, fairly quiet, has lots of power, and doesn't really smoke at all. Its a two stroke so obviously there is some, but there is no large plume of blue smoke emitting from my yard. I open my three bays up and walk through it with this and clean it out -- airs out in a few minutes. I treat it well. Put the highest grade gas in it at Costco (I believe it's 91) with a quality two stroke mix that has some anti ethanol properties. I have a Honda mower and add some treatment to that gas as well -- 4 stroke. Every now and then Ill put some injector/carb cleaner in and let it smoke it out. I keep it inside a shed when not in use and put it on the bench and wipe it down every few years as well. I live in the pnw and my yards over the years have been more pine trees than leafy trees. Although I have had some fairly large maples and walnuts. This has plenty of power moving wet leaves, pine needles -- wet or dry -- and whatever else falls into the driveway. I do remember that I was debating getting the larger engine model when I decided on this. I don't think I need more power than this for what I use it for. Great quality product -- good value for the money -- mine was mid 200s when I bought it. This is one of those purchases that I wish I had made earlier. ... show more

  • Best blower I have ever owned (and I have owned many).
Pattern Name: Blower
I purchased this because of the Husqvarna name (I already own a Husqvarna chainsaw and a Husqvarna Zero Turn Lawnmowe I am very happy with both) and the ratings on this model were good. I was a little leary at first because the 180 MPH rating on this was the same as some cheaper brands. I learned the very first time I used it, that rating don't mean squat, it is how much air it pushes. Having a bigger diameter tube makes that 180 mph wind much stronger then the cheaper brands using a smaller diameter tube to reach the 180 mph. This baby can push some air moving even wet leaves and small branches with no problem. When I first put it on my back I found it much heavier then the Homelite back pack blower, but I got use to the wieght real quick, I find it very comfortable to wear. This blower makes a unpleasant chore much easier and faster. Pros - 1) Easy to start 2) The option of setting the speed where ever you want and it stays there (much easier on the trigger finger) or you can use the trigger like other blowers it you want. 3) It is quieter then any other blower I have owned. 4) It has all the power I will ever need. 5) It has a bigger gas tank and uses less gas, I never have to refill the tank in the middle of a job. Cons - 1) This is my own fault, when you adust the speed control lever that makes it stay at one speed, I will sometimes push the lever all the way to get top speed and by mistake I will push it the oppisite way and this is how you shut it off. Once this goes that lever goes to the off posistion, no matter how fast you try to push it back the blower will shut off. There is no way to restart it until you unstrap it and remove it from your back (unless you have a buddy near by to pull start it for you while you are wearing it). 2) When running the blower set at a real low speed the motor runs a little rough. This is not a real big deal for me, I never run it at this low of a speed. All in all it is a great blower. ... show more

  • The power feels a little better on the Husq and maybe the extended nozzle helps ...
Pattern Name: Blower
My review is based off the comparison of the Echo 500 and the Husq 350. The reason I gave this 4 stars was the engine power and smoothness compared to the Echo. The power feels a little better on the Husq and maybe the extended nozzle helps as well. The Husq engine running full throttle felt much smoother, less "buzzy". It's a beast, I love it. Now for the nit-picks. The Echo's plastic nozzle is much thicker where as the Husq plastic nozzle is paper thin. The nozzle blew apart/off after 5 minutes. I thought that maybe I didn't have the connecting pieces "locked" in so I stopped and reattached the nozzle section. After it blew off another 2 times I realized that the paper thin plastic ball tabs at the end of the nozzle had been dimpled in. Apparently my super human strength twisted the nozzle sections too far and now the round tabs that lock the pieces together are crushed and not holding the nozzle sections together. After 20 minutes of use, out comes the duct tape. I'm sure you're wondering why I'm still rating this high. It's the power, productiveness and the $289 price (did I just write productiveness? that might be a first). The other minor issue is the throttle control loses its grip trying to hold it full throttle. I thought I had a problem but then realized the RPMs were slowing going down because the plastic locking trigger was letting the throttle ease off from full to 3/4 throttle. THIS I may have looked at and replaced. I just have to find out how to get an authorized shop to cover this new Husq product. I have TONS of leaves (2 1/2 acres - I hope to sell and move soon!) and this really does move leaf piles/sections. I actually purchased some black duct tape to replace the gray duct tape so it wouldn't stand out so much (I know, I know). I hope this helps. ... show more

  • Love this blower!
Pattern Name: Blower
I bought the Husqvarna 350BT 50.2cc 2-Cycle X-Torq Gas Powered Back Pack Blower in the Fall of 2012, to replace an Echo blower I had for a number of years that was a constant headache (required constant maintenance and had ongoing problems even after maintenance). I read the reviews first for this blower and the blower seemed to be a pretty good one. I started using the blower as soon as it arrived. Worked great the very first time. Easy to start up. One of the first things I noted was how well it moved the leave piles (I have lots of hardwoods in my yard). The differences between it and the Echo were noticeable. Also, it was quieter than the Echo had been. I started using Husqvarna oil, but over time tried some other ones. But I have switched to Husqvarna because the blower seems to run smoother and there is no smoky smell using it. Of course, the thing is not perfect. I do have a few minor complaints about it. • The primer bulb is in a weird place and tough to find. I have to go feeling for it under other parts of the blower. But never had any issues with touching anything hot when I did. • The waist belt is useless to me and I just clip it up out of the way. • Filling the thing with gas is difficult, because of where the gas tube entrance is. You sort of have to twist and turn the blower up at an angle to get to it. • There is nothing to grab to steady the blower when you have to pull the cord to start it. So, the thing rocks and jerks when you start it. I did find a solution, however. I simply step down on the bottom part of the shoulder strap, which sort of holds the blower down. It works, but it’s not the best possible solution. All in all, however, the blower had worked great for me for two plus years and I Have not yet had to perform any maintenance on it. I probably will this coming year, just to make sure everything with it is tip top shape. I want this thing around in excellent working order for years to come. ... show more

  • Should have gotten it sooner.
Pattern Name: Blower
This replaced a smaller handheld Husqvarna blower, which worked well but just wasn't quite big enough for the size yard I use it in. I debated this model for a long time, and when a family member had a use for my smaller blower I decided to go ahead with it. This model isn't nearly as easy to use for blowing debris out of gutters. That's the only thing it doesn't do better though. I've been using this about 6 months now, and here are my impressions so far. It starts up on usually the second pull (once in a while the first) every time, runs about 3-4 seconds on the choke, then I flip the choke lever to the running position and get going. Absolutely none of the sputtering and stalling out you so often get with 2-cycle motors when they're cold. It can easily clear hard surfaces (concrete etc) at idle, in fact I rarely go past 1/2 to 3/4 throttle for anything. The exception is when I need to clear the huge acorn crop off my yard in the fall (at full throttle it moves acorns 2-3 inches deep as they pile up), de-thatch the lawn the lazy way, or clean little sticks after a storm. This isn't the most powerful blower out there according to the ratings but I assure you it has plenty of power for any task I've given it, I even used it to clear about 2" of light powdery snow last winter and it did an amazing job. Obviously the key is "light, powdery snow", but if that's what you have get this out and leave the shovel alone. I'm trying to think of negative things to balance my review, but I can't. The waist strap could be easier to put on I suppose, it swivels at the blower so you have to spend about 10 seconds facing it the right way, but that's really all I can think of. If you're only going to clear gutters get a handheld blower, they're easier to use for that particular job. Otherwise seriously consider this one instead, you'll save a lot of time, it's way more comfortable to use, and can do things no handheld could even think of. Compared to other backpack blowers from that other company that uses white and orange the power and comfort levels are very similar, but the Husqvarna wins in my opinion by being much quieter than the particular one I used from the other guys, and mainly by being so amazingly easy to start. Oh, one last thing, I should mention that I always use "straight gas" from a marina (luckily I live near a large recreational lake, so that's easy for me) and mix my oil at closer to 30:1 than 50:1. Therefore I can't comment on some of the issues reported with the fuel system that seem to be associated with ethanol blend fuels. ... show more

  • This thing really BLOWS!!!!
Pattern Name: Blower
. . . . which I mean in the best sense of the words. I bought this blower as an upgrade for a corded electric blower which I just got tired of plugging in and lugging around the cord. This backpack blower has great power, good throttle response, and flat out gets the job done. I have had to change my technique a bit. With the electric, you had to get up close and personal to get leaves and grass clippings moving. With the back pack, I have needed to use a more stand off attack - too close and stuff goes everywhere - and fast too. Standing back, I can control the direction of moving stuff better. Other than blowing really well, this new backpack blower shines in 4 other areas. First, it so far has been very easy to start - usually on the first pull. I have been using the premixed Husqvarna fuel, which I bought as a deal to extend the warranty to 4 years. The combination of the fuel and the blower are great. The blower holds about a quart of fuel so you get good long runs before refueling. If I am just using this for lawn cleanup after a mowing, I get about an hour of total operation per tank. Second, the build quality of this blower is good if not great. Sure it is built with a lot of plastic parts but it is solid. The hose connections are tight. The straps are heavy duty nylon. The strap pads for the shoulders and the hips are firm and wide to distribute the loads well and make it comfortable. Third, this blower is light enough not to wear you out during use. I am not a big or young man, but this blower is easy to move, put on, and carry. There is a nice plastic handle (part of the frame actually) that is built into the top of the machine for carrying it without wearing it. Great for storage or bringing it out in preparation for use. Using the waist belt with its hip pads make wearing this like using a high quality hiking backpack. Properly adjusted and placed, the combination of the waist/hip belt and the shoulder pads distribute the weight of the machine and lightening the feel of it on your back. You may need to loosen or tighten the shoulder straps to get the waist/hip belt pads to ride on your hip bones. This would mean nothing however if you cannot get the thing on and the machine is light enough to pickup and swing onto your back with relative ease. Fourth and finally, the machine is quiet. I wear Pelator earmuffs for hearing protection during yard work but even with the muffs on, this blower is quieter than the electric blower I am replacing. The electric had the high pitched scream of the motor combined with the audible sound of the air stream. The backpack motor is nicely muffled and due to its displacement, has a nice medium note rather than a sharp high pitched sound. The second part of quiet though is that the engine is well balanced. It is a 50 cc engine on your back and if it was not well balanced and built, it would shake you till your ears bled. None of that! All told, this a great product. I should have bought one of these years ago but I am glad to own one now. ... show more

  • Best investment ever!!
Pattern Name: Blower
Like everyone else review. This husky has a lot of power and blows all the grass, leaves, small debris and branches out of the way. There is vibration but very little, nothing that bothers me. Although I don't wear it longer than 30-45mins. After reading the reviews I was scared to purchase due to the fact it was gas powered and Amazon does have a policy that you cannot return any gas powered items. I contacted Amazon reps and they confirmed that they cannot accept any returns on gas powered items and if there are problems I will have to contact husky to fix issues. What also scared me was other reviews that some people had problems of engine stalls or can't get it started. But reading all the good reviews I noticed everyone said follow the instructions and you'll be fine. So I made sure I read the instructions before trying to start. Also if you look at this product there are videos by husky on how to start and maintenence on the product. Video was very easy and 2 min long so worth watching. These videos are right on Amazon when you select more pictures of the product you'll see videos if they attached any and for this blower there was. So I followed all the steps, one of which very important. USE HUSKY's motor oil or the correct type with correct ratio. The husky two stroke motor oil is air cooled and some other brands are water cooled. Caution on the safe side I used husky branded oil. FYI this product did not come with husky oil bottle. You can order as an add-on in Amazon but I found it cheaper on ebay for a 6 pack for $25 bucks, free shipping. 1. Use correct oil and gas ratio mixture 2. Pump primer 5 times 3. Make sure the throttle is turned on a little bit. Pulled the cord and it started right away.. and each time after that without issues. The pulling of the cord is pretty easy but does require a bit more strengh than their trimmer 223L. The 223L has an easier pull and comes with husky two stroke oil. I've had this blower for 4 months and I don't have any issues with it. Oh but just like everyone else when I receive shipment of the product the box looked like it was beat up by king kong. it was all dinged and dented in, like it was just thrown around. Luckily nothing was damaged or cracked and everything worked, very luck! ... show more
