Features

  • Powerful 13.0 AMP motor delivers more output and variable (2,800 - 10,500) RPM
  • SJS technology is a mechanical clutch system that helps prevent motor and gear damage by allowing the drive shaft to slip if the wheel is forced to stop

  • Constant speed control automatically applies additional power to the motor to maintain speed under load
  • Soft start suppresses start-up reaction for smooth start-ups and longer gear life

Description

Makita’s 5” SJS Angle Grinder combines 13 AMP variable speed power with comfort and motor-protection features for longer-lasting stone grinding and polishing performance. The 9565CV is engineered with Makita’s innovative SJS mechanical clutch system to protect the gears for longer tool life. 13 AMP Power with SJS to Protect Gears The 9565CV is powered by a 13 AMP motor with soft start for smoother start-ups. The 5-stage variable speed dial (2, 800 – 10, 500 RPM) allows the user to match the RPM to the application. The electronic limiter stops the motor and reduces accidental motor overload and burnout, and the electronic speed control maintains consistent speed under load. Labyrinth construction protects the motor with a complex set of channels, prohibiting dust and contamination. In addition, the protective zig-zag varnish seals the motor and bearings from dust and debris by creating a barrier under rotation. The 9565CV is engineered with SJS mechanical clutch system, an innovation from Makita that protects the gears by automatically disengaging the motor should the grinding wheel accidentally catch or bind. Comfort and Ergonomics The 9565CV is built with comfort and ergonomic features for extended use. The grinder weighs just 5. 2 lbs. with a lock-on switch for easy operation. In addition, the side handle can be easily installed on either side of the tool, and the “tool-less” wheel guard adjustment provides easy clamping. Variable Speed for Stone Work The 9565CV is a versatile and powerful grinder with variable speed, allowing the user to set the RPM to the material. The variable speed control feature makes the 9565CV ideal for stone work, including polishing and grinding. From the Manufacturer Super Joint System prevents tool kickback and gear damages caused by accidental wheel binding. Improved 12 AMP motor design for increased output power in a more compact tool. Larger and improved carbon brush material for tool life. Electronic limiter stops the motor and prevents accidental motor overload and burnout. "Tool-less" wheel guard adjustment for easy clamping. Labyrinth construction seals and protects the motor and bearings from dust and debris by creating a complex set of channels. Protective zig zag varnish seals armature and field from contaminants and reduces heat.

  • Excellent Power, Nice to Use.
Size: 0 Style: Tool Only
After about a year of use, I really like this grinder. It replaces an older 4", that I used for years, but it finally wore out the gears. This replaces it with more power, speed control, larger disk, and it's not really heavier. I really like it. If there is one suggestion, there is a pause between when you move the switch and when it acts. That keeps getting me - as I think I have not positioned the switch correct, so I turn it off again, but it starts spinning then stops. Not the best behavior. Have to turn it on and wait a couple seconds, then it starts up and does a great job. Just something niggly that I takes getting used to. Overall, I love the tool. ... show more

  • Nice, powerful, versatile and smooth.
Size: 0 Style: Tool Only
Got it as an upgrade from my perfectly functioning 12 year old 6.0 amp 4" Makita Angle Grinder as I needed to do some concrete grinding and needed the 5/8" Arbor for the proper attachments. The 5 speeds is very nice as tasks do not always need 12,000RPMs. The 13 amp motor is a huge upgrade and powered the 4" concrete cup grinder through the concrete like nothing was there. This tool is MUCH BIGGER than the old 4" angle grinder and may not be so good in tight spaces. It is my hope that the 5", 5 speed, 13 amp angle grinder will give me the versatility to never need another angle grinder and I think that is the case. My old grinder had a case and it was very useful, I will need to get a dedicated tool box for this one as I find it very handy to have the tool and attachments/accessories all in one secure place. Nice job Makita. ... show more

  • Total waste of money
Size: 0 Style: Tool Only
Do not buy this item. I do not think it is really made by makita because this is absolute garbage. I got this for my birthday and used it for the first time today. The on/off switch broke. I can now only turn it off by unplugging it. Absolute garbage!

  • Good high quality tool as usual
Size: 0 Style: Tool Only
Usually a Milwaukee guy but I needed a variable speed grinder to do this particular kind of finish work, a friend of mine has a couple of the 9564 grinders so I thought I would give this one a try, sure enough, just what I had suspected, Makita doesn’t disappoint, very high quality solid construction as usual, mostly use it on the slower speeds, it will get almost to warm if used on the slowest speeds for to long, but if turned up just slightly it will cool right down rather quickly ... show more

  • A good quality grinder/polisher.
Size: 0 Style: Tool Only
We used it to polish granite tile edges on the lowest speed, 2000 RPM and it worked very well. I have to admit that I almost damaged the tool by mounting it so I could hold the tiles while polishing. I clamped it to a table and put too much pressure on the plastic part of the body causing the tool to make noise and even stall a couple times before I mounted it differently so that clamping pressure was put on the metal housing near the wheel end. That worked well, no more issues and the tool seems still be sound despite my efforts to destroy it. Another well designed tool from Makita! ... show more

  • This things is solid.
Size: 0 Style: Tool Only
I bought this in order to convert it into a high speed paint remover. So far its been working awesome. The biggest problem I had was finding a way to do it that was cost effective. Most backer pads are made for orbital sanders not grinders so the arbor sizes don't match. However STADEA makes a 5" hook and loop backer pad that fits this thing perfectly. That coupled with my dustless technologies dust shroud and hepa vac means I can take off a lot of paint in a short period of time with very little to no mess. The one thing I did in order to improve the effectiveness of the dust shroud was drill holes into the STADEA backer pad that lined up with the 5 hole hook and loop sander discs I had. So far I have been very happy with this set up. And the fact that this thing is variable speed makes a world of difference. It would be next to impossible to do a good job at paint removal with a grinder turning 10,000 RPM's, I turn this down to its lowest setting and its about as fast as I would want in order to be able to control it. However I like the fact I can crank it up if I want to grind concrete, cut rebar, or do any of a number of other things with this thing. I highly recommend it. ... show more
