I am very happy with my lamp, I ordered direct from amazon, paid about $13. It arrived undamaged, all pieces were in box and I put it together in a few minutes. The lamp shade is a thick plastic and it stays on once you screw it down like the instructions suggest, it does the job and it looks good standing in my living room, I have no complaints. Good for the price but there's not much too it. Very cheap plastic base and almost rubbery type plastic light cover. My kids constantly broke lamps so I purposely went cheap for That reason. The plastic base cracked AS I was putting it together, but it still works fine. Kids have knocked it down twice and it's still in 1 working piece. If you're looking for style, this is not it. If you're looking for a basic lamp that does it's job without wasting money, then this is it. I do think it was worth it. ... show more

Even though this lamp is plastics and make fairly cheep. It looks nice. You get what you pay for in a lamp, but I wasn't worried about it being fancy. The 3 levels of light are fantastic. I have it in my living room to add extra light as needed since we have limited fixtures in our house. It sits in the corner and ads the extra light I was looking for ... show more

I LOVE THIS LAMP. Anyone considering it should just buy it now. Super easy to put together it took like 5 minutes. It looks sleek, I really like the black. I have a 3-way light bulb in it and it makes my room super bright or a nice mood setting dim (and another brightness level in between).

    • Defective design. Shade cannot be installed since socket ring cannot touch threads after being placed in shade.

The lamp appears to have a flaw in its design. One is to unscrew the socket ring, place shade over threaded part of socket and then tighten socket ring. However, when the shade is placed over the socket ring, the socket ring is raised too high to connect with the threaded part. Therefore, the socket ring cannot be screwed in and the shade installed. I am returning the lamp as defective. The lamp appears to be manufactured without defects. The defect is in the design of the lamp, particularly the socket ring which is too short to connect to the socket threads after being inserted into the shade. ... show more

What is with items available on Amazon having 3rd-rate quality from well-known brands? Sure it's hit or miss. There's lots of great reviews for this product, but the bad ones are like you are reading about a different product. I just returned another item that was from a "quality brand", because the bolts to connect the two main pieces weren't even threaded, i.e. they weren't even bolts, just metal studs. It seems you are playing Russian roulette when you buy something you expect to be halfway decent on here anymore. I imagine the ease with which one can return an item on Amazon is because of this trend. So, the issue: simple. There's something wrong with the switch. It's hit or miss if the lamp turns on or not. I have to jiggle the switch, screw and unscrew the bulb, or shake the whole damn thing until I get a contact, and then I'll be lucky if it stays on instead of strobing. I bought two. I've only opened one. No joke, I feel like there's actually a high chance the other lamp will have similar or similarly annoying issues. We'll see. ... show more

I gave it 5 for value of money only because it would be had I gotten it from Walmart at the $9 price point instead of double the price here. Lesson learned. It will also come in a Walmart box. Works fine lights up the room well and easy to put together.
