  • Best Clock I've Ever Owned
Color: Black
I love this clock! It's well made, and has to be the most high tech and easy to use (once you learn it) alarm clock I've ever seen. Alarm 1 doesn't come in loud and obnoxious like traditional alarm clocks, instead it starts with several light tones, then faster tones, then even faster tones, then eventually a constant stream of tones. Alarm 2 just instantly hits you with the final stage until you turn it off or hit snooze. The snooze button and the power button are right next to each other so when you're ready to fully awake you can just tap the small power button instead of snooze this time around (you can feel the difference, long button vs small round button). Also, at night before you sleep, you can hit the snooze button a few times to turn off the display light so it's not shining in your face (lowest light is still rather bright) and rely on the projector for time or indoor temperature. When the alarm sounds the display also lights up to the brightest setting to assist in waking you, but goes back to what you had it set to once you hit snooze or off. Another great ease of use feature I like, is that once you have hit the power button the officially shut it up, you can just tap the power button again to listen to radio or an aux plugged in device. Radio is no high quality boom box but it gets plenty loud and stays very clear to enjoy what you're listening to even at its loudest volume. I can pull and preset (save) all the major Chicago stations beautifully from Blue Island, IL. One of my favorite features is that straight out of the box all I needed to do is tell it my time-zone and everything (date, time, year) was set for good. Which means, who needs a backup battery? If the power goes out and comes back while you're asleep, don't worry, the clock will stay set to the right time... not sure if the alarm(s) will remain set though... I'll have to check that out. Update 11/28/16: Still going strong! Though throughout the 2 years I've owned it I've noticed the time has started to go a little fast forcing me to set it back a few minutes every month or so, but still viewed as one of the most high tech and unique things in my apartment. I'm near sighted so I can't see far away and while laying in bed without my glasses I can very easily see the time projected on my ceiling. Still one of my favorite household items and I can't tell you how useful the dual alarm system is, especially since I can set them to only alarm on weekdays or one specific day. Works well for when I need to get up at a certain time on the weekend while still maintaining my weekday alarms. I still highly recommend purchasing this one! Update 6/24/20: I’ve had this clock over 5 years now, it’s still super cool and still prompting me to leave a review! Mind you I wear glasses, can’t see things clearly far away. But at night, I can read the time perfectly clearly on my ceiling with my glasses off. Perfect for barely rolling over to check the time periodically. Not a single issue from this clock besides the occasional needed roll back of the time by a minute or two. Minor inconvenience, still worth 5 stars. Someone called it a complicated clock and gave it a bad review... well, yes it’s a little complex, but for good reason! Dual alarms, each one can be set for either every weekday or just one chosen day, radio, calendar, temperature, projector, aux jack, ability to adjust time backwards and forwards, none of that “missed the number now I have to cycle through all of them again” crap. Gonna be a little complex when you factor in all of that. If you don’t want all of that, get a simpler clock for like 5 bucks. This is still hands down my favorite clock after 5 years! ... show more

  • Overall a great alarm clock for the money. A few features can be added to make it one of the best alarm clocks. Overall a great alarm clock for the money. A few features can be added to make it one of the best alarm clocks.
Color: Black
So far it has been a great purchase. The clock set the time itself. Also the long lasting thin battery was great as well, so I don't have to rely on a 9v. My favorite part is the projecting of the time on the ceiling. My be sits up high from my night stand and this keep me from having to roll over to see the time and I was able to eliminate an extra clock that I had on the other side of my bedroom just so I wouldn't have to roll over. The projection also flips 180 degrees and can also project the temperature inside the house, or the time but not at the same instance, you have to choose. Also, the image projected is still in the old style of clocks that are digital with red numbers. I do think the temperature feature is misleading when purchasing this clock. It seems to only tell the temperature inside the house (which I already know what it is cause I set it). Also, the alarm feature to be able to set just the m-f or just the weekend or just one day is nice. However, I do feel that there is a drawback to that because there are two alarms that you can set and designate each as m-f, sat-sun, or a specific day of the week, but it's more difficult to set for a random one off day that you so happen to have an early morning appointment before work. You would have to reprogram one of your two alarms just for that one instance and then go back later and change it back. It would be neat if there could be like a one instance alarm feature. It does though come with a nap feature that goes from 90 mins downward. Some reviews before were talking about the display screen being too bright but it does allow you to have the screen -bright,-dimmed, -or back light off. So if the screen is too bright then dimm it or hit the button again to turn the back light off. Then it looks like a watch without a backlight. The projection still work even without the back light. Another feature that would have been nice that they should add in the future is the ability to increase the projected size of the clock time. You can currently change the focus, but for some people like me who wears glasses and wake up in the middle of the night without them on, being able to blow up the size of the image without sitting to clock lower to the ground would be a nice touch to add. Although with mine on my nightstand I can see it just fine but being nearsighted when I don't have my glasses on it can be a little less clear, and I am thinking this could be a problem for some especially if you have a low ceiling or wall that is not far away enough. Also, as a person who's previous clock alarm was a sonic alarm loud alarm with bed vibration (alarm clock made with people hard of hearing in mind) I was use to a loud alarm because I am a hard sleeper. This alarm is rather mild compared to that, it would have been nice to have a volume adjustment to the alarm loudness so I could amp it up a little bit. However, it still wakes me up, so I am good with it. Overall, I think it's a great clock for the money, let's just see how long it last. • Good but could use some improvements
Color: Black
This clock is a good alarm clock. It shows the time on the ceiling or wall (which I really like). My old clock did that but in addition this one also shows the room temperature and the day and date on the face of the clock (& I think you can push a button and have that info displayed on the ceiling/wall). The face of the clock is very bright but you can set it to low/high/off in the off position the face is lit for a about a minute and then it goes off. There are 2 alarm settings. They both have the same options. You set the alarm (1 or 2) for the hour, minute and then for the days you want it to go off: just 1 day (1-1) or just week days (Mon - Fri) 1-5 or just weekends (Sat - Sun) 6-7, or everyday Mon-Sun (1-7). When you are setting the alarm you press the Alarm Set button to move from the hour to the minute to the day(s) option, if you select the one day option (1-1) you must press the Alarm Set button to move to the days of the week and use the arrow buttons to scroll thru the days (listed at the top) to select which day you want the alarm to go off. When you press the alarm set button the next item blinks but not the days of the week so when you press it after selecting 1-1 move the arrow button and see if the day listed at the top which will probably be the day you are changing/setting the alarm moves to the next day and scrolls thru the days of the week until you have the correct day you want the alarm to sound, then press Mode/Set. I have Alarm One set for Mon-Fri (1-5) and Alarm Two for Sat-Sun (6-7). Today was a Friday and I had off from work so I wanted the alarm to go off a little later than usual. I had a heck of a time setting it for Friday morning only. Finally got it set. The first thing I did this morning was re-set Alarm Two for Sat - Sun (6-7) so I would not forget. The biggest problem with this alarm clock that I have is that when you want to check the time you have the alarm set for you have to go thru the whole process like you are setting the alarm again - you can't just press Alarm One or Two to check what time you have the alarm set to go off. The directions must have been written in a language other then English and translated because they seem to be missing words that would help explain things better. The directions are not easy to follow at all. The radio works good enough for me, I do not use it very much. There are no sounds like the ocean or chimes to listen to, which I had on my old clock but rarely used. This clock also was easy to set to Daylight Savings time we turned it on and it was set to the correct time but we did have to follow the directions to tell the clock that the time it was displaying was daylight savings time and then the sun icon displayed, now it should be all set for when the clocks fall back in autumn this clock should go back one hour at 2:00 a.m. that Sunday morning to 1:00 a.m. (it BETTER). The size of the clock is small about 4-5" wide and 3-4" deep so it does not take up a lot of room on my nightstand. ... show more

  • The best clock radio I've owned so far!
Color: Black
Recently, my clock radio, an Emerson SmartSet, decided to crap out on me after only five years or so. (The alarm function and radio stopped working, although, weirdly, the clock part still kept time, and on battery back-up, the alarm would still go off. I still can't quite figure that one out.) I thought about trying to play around with the Emerson, to see if I could fix it, but I just didn't feel up to it, so I went shopping and found this Magnasonic. I was really excited because it fit all the criteria I was looking for: it was a clock radio, not just an alarm clock; it had a dual alarm system; and the clock sets automatically as soon as it's plugged in. Plus, it has two other features that are just plain nice to have: it has a sensor that registers the room temperature, and it projects the time onto the ceiling/wall so I don't even have to raise my head from my pillow to see what time it is. I'll admit, it took a bit of time for me to figure out how to work this clock radio, for the mere fact that it's completely different from any I've owned previously. Not only because of the extra functions/features, but also because it's so sleek and compact. I'm used to those bulky, slightly rectangular, slightly oblong radios that are at least half a foot long, half a foot wide, and as thick as bricks (with the really old ones almost weighing as much as bricks). This Magnasonic is almost tiny in comparison: it's only 5 1/2 inches long, about the same measurement in height, and 3 1/2 inches deep. The biggest thing about it is the LCD screen up front. However, a brief perusal of the instructions showed that the Magnasonic is really user-friendly and once you figure out what each button is for and how to work them, setting the alarms and using all the functions is easy-peasy. As I pointed out, the clock part sets automatically as soon as you plug it in, so that's one less thing to deal with; all you have to worry about is setting the time zone if you're not in the default Eastern time zone. The dual alarms are set from one central button and you can not only set the time, but you're given options as to how often the alarm will go off: all seven days of the week, Monday through Friday only, Saturday and Sunday only, or just one day of the week. Buttons on the back allow you to choose whether you want the alarms to go off as a buzzer or as music from the radio, and to turn one or both alarms off completely. There are all sorts of other details you can fiddle with such as setting the time and calender manually, setting the snooze function, setting the sleep function, and changing the display content. And then there's the projection, which comes from a rotating arm on the left-hand side of the unit. The arm can be rotated into an almost horizontal position both front and back, and there's a wheel at the top which focuses the projection--just turn the wheel until the display is clear and crisp. The display can also be flipped by 180 degrees for rear projection; just press another button to do so. Now, there are two "downsides" to this clock radio that I've found. One is that, because the time isn't just a set of numbers on the front of the unit, but a full LCD screen with the time, room temp., and other info, the display is brighter than on a regular clock radio. However, there is a dimmer function to the front display, which helps, and also, because the time can be projected and therefore the front of the clock radio doesn't need to face my bed, I simply turn the unit so that the barest sliver of the screen is visible from where I'm resting, allowing most of the glow to dissipate into the room. On the plus side, if I have to get up in the middle of the night, the glow helps me avoid any cat toys littering the floor between my bed and the bathroom. The second "downside" is, because the unit is so compact, there's no room for any internal antennae for radio reception. So there are two thin external antennae to fiddle with, which, frankly, I haven't had to deal with since my clock radio from the 80's. However, neither of these "downsides" are really that bad (hence my use of quotation marks) or difficult to deal with, and, certainly, these two tiny, inconsequential details don't detract one iota from this Magnasonic's compact and functional nature. ... show more

  • Excellent Product
Color: Black
I am very happy with my Magnasonic projection alarm clock. The display on the ceiling is bright and easy to read. There is some flexibility in positioning the display on the ceiling or on a wall. It would be nice if there was the ability to swivel the projection unit to give you more flexibility in terms of where you can position the display, but so long as you are relying completely on the projected image, if you move the clock around a bit, you can come pretty close to what you want. I know the biggest complain people have had with this clock is the brightness of the display on the clock itself. Even set to dim, the display is pretty bright. It doesn't really bother me all that much because I have a queen-sized bed and tend to sleep in the middle or a bit farther away from the display so it's not shining right in my eyes. If I were sleeping closer to the clock, it might be more of a problem. As it is, I don't mind it and it pretty much acts as a night light in my bedroom. I really like the dual alarms on the clock. I have one set for the week days and the second one is set for weekends, in the event I have something I need to be up for on a weekend. It's nice not to have to keep re-setting the only alarm you have on a clock, so dual alarms is a very nice feature. In terms of the alarm sound, there's not a lot of versatility. My recollection is that it's the buzzer (actually more of a dinging sound) or the radio. So if you're looking for something that has southing nature sounds as an option for your alarm, this is not the clock for you. I also like the fact that it's easy to hit the snooze button -- you don't have to keep banging away at the clock until you hit the right button. The snooze button is actually a bar right on the top center of the clock. Very easy to get to, and there is nothing else in the the area that you're going to hit instead and have to go back and re-set something that you changed in error. The radio reception is nice, but not great. Could be the area that I live in though that causes me to have to hold the antenna in silly positions in order to get decent reception. Regardless, I did not buy the clock for the radio ... I was more interested in the alarm and projection options. Overall, this is an excellent product. It is certainly well worth the money and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in a good projection radio alarm clock and can live with the bright display on the clock itself. ... show more

  • Digital clock that loses time
Color: Black
I have had this clock for some time now and overall this clock is just ok. It is far from precise. On average it loses about a second every month and I have to reset it after some time. It has a good projection on walls and ceiling and you can see the numbers but during the day the numbers are not as crisp and I tend to have to focus to see them. My biggest complain is this clock overtime loses time. ... show more

  • My search is over, all hail Magnasonic
Color: Black
I like a dedicated alarm clock, I can't use my phone and I want one that displays the time so I don't also need a clock. I also wanted it to be a radio for when I want that. I wanted it to have the ability to set two alarms. I wanted it to be made by an English speaking company. All that said, this is a great alarm clock that fits those parameters. It has a few extras like the AUX port, temperature, and the projector but they aren't why I'm writing this review; it's because after looking at and trying many alarms clocks, I finally found one that understands I don't want a usb port or any of that nonsense, I need an alarm clock first and foremost. It dims the screen to an acceptable level and has intuitive controls, that HUGE. Attention to detail like the ability to set a date range for when the alarm times are, another MASSIVE win. Separate station settings per alarm is not a feature I cared about as I like the standard beeping but having it is such a sign of QUALITY. It's a $30 dollar alarm clock, why do I care so much? I am passionate enough to write a review because it really does its best to be an ALARM CLOCK over anything else: it's not a radio first, it's not a power brick for your phone, and it's not a charging pad either, it's an alarm clock. It's designed with quality and functionality in mind, with a clear attention to detail I can't over state. I hate bright lights, I really hope it can dim; it can, and from what I can tell, one mode turns off the backlight do that at night, meaning it doesn't glow at all if you don't want it to. These are the clear signs of development and thoughtful design I DESPERATELY wanted and couldn't find, until I found this alarm clock. I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense but I am writing this after being hit with the inspiration that I have to share how I feel about this clock in hopes others also buy it because I'm sure they'll be blown away as well. ... show more

  • Not Five Star Clock
Color: Black
Really I might give it two stars, but if you are like me, you read the best and then the worst about an item first, and besides that I can not imagine anyone giving this clock a five star rating unless he or she is working for the company; therefore I might as well add some needed balance to the ratings. After seeing how this works it is not a five star clock. Here is where it falls short: 1. It does have a dimmer function, but the settings should be labeled super bright, really bright, and everything off. Buy this and you will never sleep in the dark again; unless you set it to turn off automatically in which case everything including the projection shuts down. 2. Doesn't this use a type of laser light to throw the numbers on the ceiling? If so why does this clock have a lens that you have to focus? By nature you can unfocus a laser, but not focus it. As it is it does give you the ability to switch the image 180 degrees. However if you set the clock facing you the image is going to be sideways while looking up at it. (but you will not be sleeping anyway, because the clock will be too bright; unless of course if your from the planet Vulcan and have an extra set of eyelids) 3. It does have a radio. This is nice, but the speaker reminds me of the little transistor radio I use to listen to back in the 70's. It is loud enough, but rather tinny. I am really surprised that they could not have done better, but this is generally true for the whole device. The unit also comes with a wire running out of the device that forms the antennae for the radio. Do we really want extra wires to worry about? Not only is there an antennae but there is a second wire the serves to gather the indoor temperature. (It doesn't have a way of measuring the outdoor temperature. Probably they should have added a longer wire so I could run it outside? Would have been more useful, and made better sense for why any wire is needed but it doesn't have that.) 4. In general the controls are rather small and not really labeled well. They can be figured out over time, but they are still awkwardly located and the small footprint of the radio makes some of them hard to manipulate without picking the whole thing up to keep from knocking it off the dresser. 5. Also the instruction manual is not that great --small print and inadequate description. In conclusion, the clock seems to be built well enough, but it lacks a certain usefulness and quality of design. There is just no way it should have five star rating even if a person generally finds the product acceptable. I really would advise you shopping for something different. I own an inexpensive La Crosse Technologies projection clock. It is not without its issues, but it is better than this one. ... show more
