Very loud. No volume control option. You can't understand what the unicorn is saying either. It just sounds like a bunch of squeals and high-pitched moans. The speaker is seen clearly through the very thin and short "fur" on the head. The heart that tells your mood is always changing by the second. When I was playing with it with my 6-yr old niece, I felt very silly telling her what her mood was every 3 seconds. At first she was thrilled at the mood-teller, but I think she quickly got bored with the inconsistency. It fits her finger and my finger. It won't fit on a pencil or pen. The tail should be hair like the top of its head, as stated by my niece. I got this on sale for about $6 total, so it wasn't a huge let-down.
