This machine makes excellent espresso! Follow the instructions, running a pre heat cycle. Dry the basket, fill it using the weight recommendations. The tamp is spring loaded to let you know the correct pressure to pack the basket. Then hit brew, and you will be rewarded with an exceptional pull of espresso! Prime the steam wand by running it into a towel for a second before use (as it will shoot a little water before steam comes out). However, even after cleaning the machine three times, the water smells and tastes of iodine after running through the pump... It's not the water. The same water smells and tastes fine coming out of my other espresso machine, a DeLonghi that I've had for over five years and has been losing pressure.
