I got two children's electric scooters at the same time, this one and a popular name brand one. They are both for the same age range, however, this one goes two miles per hour faster. I personally find this one may be a bit too fast for a 5-6 year old, but it's great for my older kids that are 9 and 11. This aside, I prefer this Massimo Motor scooter over the name brand one for several reasons. 1) It's more portable than the first. 2) It has more power going up hills and in grassy areas. It can also carry heavier weight. 3) It seems to accommodate more heights than the others. Overall, this is a great little sturdy scooter. Doesn't take long to charge, and a single charge lasts a while. It's easy for a beginner to learn. You simply kick off with your foot and then you can press down on the button on the deck to make it go. You have to hold it in with your foot to keep it moving, but the moment it is depressed it will slow down. My kids have a ton of fun with this scooter. Definitely recommend. ... show more

Everything about this scooter is great, but my only concern is safety. Given that the kids are so small, shouldn't it have hand-held brakes? The speed could be quite high for 5-year-old kids. I recommend making sure to wear protective gear and a helmet. This scooter is very easy to assemble and easy to ride. Unlike typical scooters that have an acceleration button on the handle. this one accelerates by pushing the button on the floor. This makes the flooring a little smaller. I would love to have such scooter in my childhood, but still worry to have my daughter riding it before I am 100% sure she can do so. ... show more

This is a good scooter design for young children, who already have enough balance to ride a regular scooter. Here are my thoughts on it: - Max speed is 6 mph. Decent speed from the electric motor but not so fast that I would be concerned with a 4-5 year old riding it. - The scooter is pretty sturdy. My only complaint is that the steering stem is held on by a compression fitting tightened by two bolts. This is OK for casual riding, I am just worried about over-tightening/under-tightening and having the stem tube either come loose or break. I'll update this review if it does become an issue. - Step accelerator: There is no thumb throttle. Instead, you step on a button located near the steering stem. This is actually more intuitive for my kids as they can focus on steering and accelerate using their feet. - There is no handbrake. You brake by stepping on a button on the rear fender. Assembly was simple, but the scooter barely has any power. My youngest weighs 35 pounds and while powered up, the scooter was slower than my walking pace. You can't really just ride it powered; the motor isn't strong enough to keep it moving. I even got it up to activation speed and lifted it up off the ground with the accelerator depressed just to make sure it was actually working. All it does is provide the smallest of assist when riding it like a normal, leg powered kick scooter. Even the most basic Razor e100 is about 10 times more powerful. I'm not sure who this is for. It isn't ideal for very young kids, as they aren't going to need the boost anyway as they try to stay upright. It isn't for slightly older kids that have non-powered kick scooters, as it isn't even as fast as those. Any kid older than 7 is going to be bored and disappointed with this. ... show more
