I recently purchased this M.2 SSD Enclosure and I'm extremely impressed with its performance and build quality. One of the big lessons is to pay attention to the product specifications. Some enclosures say SATA compatible, but they're really not. This one is but you have to read the model number to make sure that you're getting what you asked for. This enclosure is fairly simple and has some unique qualities about it in that you don't fuss around with a whole bunch of those itty-bitty screws that you're going to drop on the carpet and that you find impossible to replace unless you buy a whole pack of them. The case simply opens with slight pressure and you install your device from there. Here's the thing… I was installing a WD blue SATA M.2 that I'm using for an external backup drive. The M.2 device had to be installed "upside down" with the blue label on the downside and the circuits on the upside because of the way that the M.2 pins are installed. That is not a showstopper but it's just odd. It all worked and I transferred some mega files and tested the speed on Crystal disc and it came out about 560 MBs which is just about right for a M.2 SATA drive. By the way, I used the SATA M.2 device because with a SATA port, they're only going to get just so much speed anyway; a fast M.2 is only going to run at the speed of the port anyway so why put an expensive M.2 in an enclosure as an external drive. It all worked! It did not take me long time and I transferred some big files, about 30 GB in a few minutes and so I'm happy with the purchase. Again, read the product specifications because if the enclosure does not support a SATA device, you going to have trouble initializing the drive and using disk partition software is not going to help, so just read instructions.

Came on time and as ordered. Used it to clone a new drive for my laptop and it worked great. Simple to set up and afterwords became a UHS flash drive using my old ssd. Solid win!

I think this M.2 to USB (either USB-A or USB-C; both cables included) is great. My one issue is that the thermal tape they provided, when I use it, is so tight on the case that when you remove the case to get to the M.2 drive, it literally pulls the M.2 drive out of the socket. Not sure why that is. Works like a charm other than that. I'd recommend it. Great for the price.

Drives fit perfectly, aluminum body does seem to help cool them when in use. Very easy to insert drive and to take back apart if you ever need to swap drives. Works really good depending on your device's transfer speeds and USB ports. I really like it and do recommend.

The performance of the file transfers is fast. The quality is great, it’s made of metal and is very secure. You can carry it in your pocket like a usb tum drive. I had it running for several days and it was very cool to the touch. I would definitely recommend this product.

The tool-less design of this enclosure makes it easy to open, albeit possibly too easy. While I don't have children, I could easily see a child opening this if they managed to get their hands on it. It's possible to design a mechanism or "sleeve" of some sort that could wrap around the end and/or be taped there to obscure access to the push button tabs on either side. Also, the included heat transfer pad seems a bit low quality. Aside from that this device gets the job done and is good for the price. At least so far. I'm not so sure about the long-term reliability and durability.

The media could not be loaded. Nice and cheap. Worked fantastically…. Would definitely recommend if you lack hard drives to clone your existing laptop’s ssd or have only one ssd port. While you’re at it download macrium 8, register for the trial, & clone your ssd. Also if you can’t find bitlocker on your laptop, most likely you’re running windows 10 HOME which doesn’t have bitlocker and you can proceed with the cloning.
