These pieces are great and they look beautiful, but if you put them in water, they will turn the water brown! It releases tannins as it soaks in water. This is harmless to fish and beneficial in some ways, and also preferred for some fish, like bettas. It is recommended to boil the pieces for 1-2 hours before putting it into a fish tank if you want clear water. It may still release some tannins over time, but regular water changes and activated carbon in your filter will help keep the water clear. Otherwise, these are great driftwood pieces for the price and accurate to the stated size. I only wish the ends looked more natural on all of them instead of an abrupt cut edge.

Beautiful, nice quality pieces of driftwood. I 1000% recommend following the boiling directions. These were FULL of tannins (omg) which may or may not be a good thing depending on the person. I boiled mine for two hours and then soaked for about two days and they were good to go into my tank. They’re a beautiful color and satisfying shapes- I was able to use them to hold down some Anubias plants. I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for nice quality and pretty pieces of driftwood. I’ll definitely come back if I need more.

The dritwood discolored my aquarium water. I set up new aquarium when I moved. See picture. The wood leeched a horrible color into the tank. I am going to have to empty it and start all over. I purchased a 2 piece set. I removed both from tank and put them in seperate bowls to confirm the discoloration was coming the dritwood. The smaller piece was fine and the water in it's bowl remained clear. However, the water in the bowl containing the larger piece immediately started to "brown." Not just a waste of time but a huge hassel to empty a 20gal tank and start the set up all over. If planning on using in fish tank I would purchase elsewhere.

There’s some things I didn’t like more than one of them had three or four saw cuts on them and that takes away from making the aquarium look real. You’re supposed to boil them keep in mind if you order something bigger than a pot you have that’s impossible so you put it in your sink. Fill the sink up with hot water and leave them sit. I did that for two days but they keep seeping out this brown color changing the water to brown so I had to do over a week or two water changes to try to stop that and it’s helped I imagine a few more water changes and the brown color will be gone. I did have some pieces that could fit in my big pot and I boiled them for five or six hours and I still had two pieces that were would not go to the bottom they were floating. The good things about this driftwood is it really makes an aquarium look closer to reality it’s really good for the water and for your fish yet, itholding lots of positive bacteria. And of course it really makes your aquarium look good. This is my third set I’ve ordered. I have a 55 gallon. I keep adding to it just because they do look so good. I would and will buy it again.

Its a stick. Exactly what I was expecting, has a flat bottom so it stands up without wobbling. The size of the wood is about 13". The wood is good quality, very sturdy. Will need to be treated multiple times to get the tannin out before putting in my tank.

The product was shipped well, and the pieces had nice variety. However, if I had realized how much tannins this particular type of wood would release, I would have gone another route. I used 4 pieces in a 90 gallon aquarium, and within 24 hours you can't see into the tank. After multiple daily water changes I am seeing no change.

The first photo is of both pieces in a 5 gallon bucket (of which they didn’t fully fit) with boiling water. That was the first boil and the worst of the tannins. Super easy to clean and smelled like actual wood, not some chemically treated mess passing as aquarium decor. The larger piece was very dense and immediately settled to the floor of my 20g and stayed put. The “smaller” piece had to be wedged in place with the larger piece to hold it down initially. My substrate is white sand and I’ve had exactly zero tannin staining. I didn’t want my sand stained but don’t mind a black water tank as I have 2 and they are actually my favorite tanks. No issues there at all and the water is clear. There is some mulm growth on the wood now but my mystery snails will take care of it. If it gets crazy, I’ll have the perfect excuse for getting some crustaceans to join the team. This is by far the best price around for driftwood/hardscape of this size. If I had any complaint it would be that I’d prefer a lighter colored wood but I knew what I was buying before I did it and it still looks great. 10/10 recommend.
