Update: 4 months in and I have a huge rip, my last one took 2 years to rip. I’m not over weight nor have I been abusing this. Super unfortunate. I do love it but sad it ripped so soon. Just bought our 2nd round of this mattress topper! The first one ripped a little after 3 years of usage! We love love love it!! We stay cool, got rid of back pain and it’s sooo comfy. If you read that it has a weird smell that’s called off gassing and you just need to leave it in an open room while it fluffs up. The odor goes away. ... show more

After using this for about a month, I can say the topper is soothing to sleep on. First, upon opening the topper, it took about an hour to fully unravel. The smell lasted about two days, but wasn't bad enough to not sleep on it the first night. Regarding the sleep itself, I'm 67 inches/150 lbs. I can sleep on my side without discomfort, and when laying on my back, am cushioned enough to not need a pillow. Granted, you body creates an impression in thr cushion which can be difficult to change position because the impression takes time to fill back in and you kind of roll back into it. This topper, despite its claims of cooling technology, is not noticeably cooler then any other memory phone topper (and I use bamboo sheets).     • A FOUR INCH ClOUD...DREAMY!
We LOVE it. It doesn't look like anything fancy. We have only had it a couple weeks, but it is sooo comfortable if you like cloud cushy. 4 inches is so nice, a lot more cush than just 3 inches we were use to. I got this one because it was ventilated. Many that say they are ventilated but look close, they are not the solid foam but the broken up pieced foam, which I don't think would perform long term, however, this one is solid plushness, not pieced, and it will breath with the tiny holes designed through it, and stay cooler. Totally happy, fit is exactly full bed size and fits properly on our full mattress. It was packed perfectly, compact, in air tight bag, in a box and in just a couple hours or sooner, it was full size, even though they say wait 48. We slept on it the night we got it, and omgosh...dreamy! If you like the idea of sleeping on a cloud that won't be hot like other foam mattresses...buy this one! ... show more

I will start my review by stating the positive sides of my experience purchasing this product. It is indeed 4" thick. I have had another brand of mattress topper before that was 3", so I thought 4 would be an improvement. It was not, at least not the Lucid brand. As others have stated, your body will sink in. It did, it sunk in almost all the way down to my firm mattress that I bought the topper for in the first place. Now it was just a compressed piece of memory foam that was hard as a rock. Also, my arms and legs did NOT sink in, so they were still up, above my body, and I awoke to horrible pain in my arms, legs and back. I tried this topper for two nights like this until I ended up having to sleep on the couch which was infinitely more comfortable. I had read reviews prior to my purchase so I knew something like this could happen, but since I had such good luck prior with a 3" topper, I didn't think it would be a problem. We have a queen sized bed. When you order the topper, it comes compressed, obviously, and once you remove it from all its wrapping and plastic it expands. Once you have reached this point, there is no way to get it back into the box. I tried, I wanted to return this immediately because it is expensive. You can return it no problem, but you have to get it into a sealed box. This wasn't going to happen, it is huge. My husband and I tried every way we could think of to compress it enough to get it in to a box, any box, and it wasn't happening. Right now we are storing it, sort of, in a 30 gallon heavy duty garbage bag, so it is out of the way. We can only get the bottom half in, and the top is sticking out and straining the bag, so there is just no way we can get it into a box and seal it. I contacted the company before leaving this review to see if there is anything we can do. First, I used their Send a Message form on their website. That was over two weeks ago, and I have yet to receive a reply. Next, I tried calling. It went directly to voicemail, so I left a message. Over a week ago, and I have yet to hear back. Then, I tried to Live Chat with an agent on their website. Not only was "Emily" extremely rude, she informed me the phone number isn't for customer service, and the form I used on their site was essentially useless, she told me the best way to connect with someone and get a reply was with an email. So, I did that. It has now been a week and despite an automated message I received soon after my email, I have heard nothing from that method of contacting the company either, and at this point, I don't expect to. Getting a refund for this expensive, excruciating purchase would be a dream come true at this point, but even having the company reach out for any reason would have been nice. I hate to leave bad reviews and literally tried every method I could to get ahold of someone at Lucid to express my concerns with the mattress topper and have been unable to do so. Their customer service is virtually non-existent. I would never buy another product from Lucid, and am now stuck with a huge, thick, expensive piece of foam that I have no use for. I know my review isn't typical and it's more of a concern with their lack of customer service after my ill-fated purchase of their product, but I wanted to let others know why this topper didn't work for me and actually made my back pain worse (seeing in the reviews that others have had the same experience with sinking in so far, akin to feeling like a turtle on its back or a human taco), and also to let them know that they should spend their money wisely, because if you do happen to have a similar, painful experience using their product, you will be unable to reach anyone to come to any kind of resolution if a return is nearly impossible, as mine is. ... show more

The reason I am only giving this three stars is because I bought my first Lucid 4 inch bamboo charcoal mattress topper and it is amazing. I LOVE it! It’s wonderful to sleep on. I have arthritis in my hips but I’m a side sleeper and it is so comfortable! It cradles my body so perfectly and I have no more pain in my hips at night. I love it so much that I ordered a second one to have at my daughter’s house for when I stay there. The first one I ordered for my bed at home came in a bag. It was flat. I opened it up and put it on the bed in a spare room to let it expand. It took about 48 hours to fully expand. The one I ordered to use at my daughter’s house came rolled up in a big box which I thought was odd because the way it was packaged was completely different from the one I use at home. It only took about 6 hours to expand. I put it on the bed and slept on it the very first night and it was hard and miserable to sleep on. I don’t sleep well on it when I stay at my daughter’s house because my hips hurt all night. I don’t understand why it’s so different from the one I use on my bed at home but I knew something wasn’t right when I saw how differently it was packaged. So I would give the one I use at home 5 glorious stars! It’s the most amazing memory foam mattress topper I have ever slept on and I have had quite a few of them over the years. I would give the one at my daughter’s house 0 stars if I could because it’s terrible. So I gave 3 stars because that’s the average of the two. I have found that if you only put the fitted sheet over the memory foam and not over the foam and the mattress both, it helps quite a bit. I opened the box it puffed up instantly, and it then struggled to fight the pillow topper and then the fitted sheet to fit. But in fairness I did get the 4” memory charcoal foam. And well it’s like laying on a cloud. My only gripe is that I have to get those bed sheet things to keep my sheets in place. Other than that this thing is perfect but that’s just me looking for a reason to give this a down side but in all honesty this thing is amazing. My back is already thanking me for it. ... show more
