This is by far the best toaster oven I have ever owned. Bake, broil, toast, or roast, it is accurate and cooks evenly. It is a cinch to clean and looks fantastic. The wire racks are easy to move, even when hot, thanks to the gripper tool. The baking sheet is nice, large, and easy to clean, with a quick spritz of oven cleaner; plus, after many such cleanings the enamel shows zero wear. I do like this Luby oven. When I fire it up it heats my whole apartment. Cooks food faster than a stove oven because it's so small. I bought red because it fits in so well with my black kitchen. The function indicators should be a bit larger. I can barely see them from across the room (7 feet). Gotta kind of keep your eye on it. I've burned up a couple loaves trying to make toast.     • Great Looking Toaster Oven
The media could not be loaded. This oven has a retro look and you can't beat the huge color pop it gives any kitchen. Cooks very evenly and it allows you to control the heat by using the top elements or the bottom, which is helpful depending on what you're trying to heat up or how fast. The only thing I don't like is the timer. It's a crank knob and it kind of "ticks" while it's going but it is hard to get an extremely accurate time set with a crank knob like that. I usually end up cranking it past what I need and use my iPhone timer to be most accurate. Overall though it's a great addition to any kitchen looking for an accent color splash! ... show more

    • Creates bad-smelling smoke when you turn it on for the first time.
LUBY CONVECTION TOASTER OVEN (RED) The manual tells you that the unit burns off a "protective" coating on the heating elements & that the smoke is "harmless". (Maybe they mean it's harmless to the unit.) If it's really harmless to humans they should tell you what the burning smoking chemical actually is. It smells bad & feels bad in my throat. I've owned several toaster ovens before and this is the only one that has had this "feature". Maybe they all do now, I don't know. The unit should have a sticker on its front door that warns you of the smoke, and tells you to burn it in in a well-ventilated area. A toaster oven is a simple enough device that most people won't feel they need to read the instructions, so not having a safety warning label about the smoke on the unit seems like a poor choice. I highly recommend opening your windows and NOT putting it on a shelf before starting the burn-in process. (I put it on the floor to test it, fortunately) Or better yet, burn it in outdoors. When it first started smoking I tried to turn it off by turning the function control to OFF. It did not seem to turn off. Performance after it has burned off all the "harmless" chemical: TOAST: This is a poor choice if you make toast frequently. The function control has no "toast" setting. You just choose which heating elements you want on (both for toast), then set time & temperature (highest temp). So you have to experiment with the time - and there are only markers in 10 minute increments. Also, the time setting is quite inaccurate. A 10 minute setting gave me about 7½ minutes. So repeatability is an issue. I guess that's why a lot of people still buy regular old toasters. Also the heating elements take a long time to get up to their hottest temperature, so toasting is slow. Heating is uneven, seemingly because the fan is pretty weak. I like units that DON'T use digital controls, so that's a plus with this one. It has an attractive enamel outside coating. Also the crumb tray removes easily. Planning to return this. ... show more

I like the color, style and size of this convection toaster oven. I goes way beyond just being a toaster. I hardly use my regular oven anymore.
