This is my first record player. It took me a few minutes to figure it out. But I was able to play a record and also tried the Bluetooth option. Both worked great! The sound is very clear and it gets pretty loud. The only minor thing is the base of where the record sits is a little loose. But it does come with a warning to place in a secure area and not one that will vibrate to much. Overall as a newbie to vinyl, I’m pleased with this record player and it’s various features. This is a wonderful portable record player. I like how compact it is and can take it to whichever room I want to listen to some of my records. The sound quality is good, what you'd expect for the price point. The pitch control, which means you can adjust the speed, works well. It has some great extra features such as also being able to play music from your USB or record your vinyl to MP3. It can also play music via a wireless connection. So, it's like this. The first one of these would not turn on. Why? Because the power supply was no good; there was no voltage. You would think that the factory in China would check to see that the power supply was good. Ya gotta wonder, how many have these been shipped worldwide with a dead power supply. So, Part Two of the story. Lil Blue Record Player works like a champ. Why? Because the power supply has voltage, and thus amps and thus the player that needs flowing electrons does get its MDR of electrik juice. Woo hoo. Now for some juicy details. UNO) is this a Hi-Fi state of the art record player? Of course not. DOS) Does it play records. Yes. Does it play MP3 files? Yes. Can you hook up external speakers? Yes. TRES) are the built-in speakers any good? Well, how did you like your little transistor radio in 1962? If not so much, then No, the built-in speakers are not so good. Easy solution, use the RCA jacks and plug into some decent powered speakers with RCA input. CUATRO) anything else? Yes, this is the cutest little suitcase style record player on the market. Much cuter than the ones that look like a briefcase. The assembly quality is very good, the vinyl material is very nice, the blue color is cool, the hardware is shiny and seems durable and all the typical and standard stuff of the record player works good. At the end of a record (I tried 12" and 7") the platter stops turning if you have the switch set to auto stop. The tonearm lift works great, and unlike some other players, it very gently lowers the stylus down to the record. CINCO) What about the tonearm pressure/weight. Yes it is a bit much, approx 6 grams. As a popular website that covers all things cheap audio points out, you can glue a weight (try a nice new shiny nut) on the end of the tone arm and reduce the pressure to about 3 grams, which should be fine for most records, but anything less than 6 is an improvement, but don't go lower than 3. Why do these cheap record players usually come in around 6 to 9 grams? Probably to keep the needle from skipping on older, worn records. Also many of the Chinese players have a cheap ruby or sapphire stylus, which is definitely not as good as diamond (which is synthetic folks). LP&No 1 lets you know they provide a diamond stylus; nother reason I chose this model over similar others. SEIS) I formatted a 32GB SD card with ExFAT and dumped some MP3 audio files and they played fine using the USB port and a SD card adapter. The labeling on the little USB control buttons is hard to see (black on black) but once you get the hang of it they are easy to play, pause, reverse, and skip forward through the MP3 tracks. I did not try the record to USB because I don't need to transfer my records to digital, because I daggone want to listen to the records, and I got all the digital music I can listen to in 3 lifetimes. SIETE) Yes, I recommend this cute little record player and its other functions. Just get some decent external speakers, unless you liked your little All Transistor portable AM radio. The internal ones are 19% better than the transistor. Did I mention it is cute? And it works. How cool is that. ... show more
