I purchased the Louisville Adjustable Aluminum Ladder Stabilizer, LP-2210-00 for use with a Gorilla MPX26 ladder to facilitate gutter repair. I awarded this product 4?stars because I agree with other reviewers that the hardware should have included split lock washers, since the fasteners loosen by themselves after minimal use. I installed my own lock washers. It took me a little while to figure out the best way to fasten the U-bolts and install the fasteners, but removing the stabilizer from the ladder only took a few minutes, which facilitates easier storage. With the upper section of the straightened ladder, fully extended, and the lower section halfway extended, and the beefy aluminum stabilizer ( much lighter than steel) installed on the top rung, with some effort, I was able to carefully tilt the ladder up by myself, and then walk the ladder into position and gently lean it against the roof. I was able to do this on my own, but I am 6’6”. It would’ve been safer and easier with two people. I would recommend this product. Be aware that the photograph associated with this product shows a non-adjustable stabilizer.

I don't hesitate to write a less than stellar review when I am disappointed with a product.... and so it is only fair that I give KUDOS when a product arrives and it is better than expected. This stabilizer is very light weight.... but very strong and sturdy! It is really fast and simple to attach to the ladder and even quicker to remove. It is adjustable as to how far from the wall you need the ladder to be held. Our new kitchen cabinets were installed before I could finish the drywall patching and painting above the upper cabinets. A step ladder could not get close enough because of the lower cabinets and the extension ladder would rest on the upper cabinets before making contact with the wall above. This was the PERFECT remedy. I had looked at several stabilizers online and they seem 'limited' to holding the ladder about 7" from the wall. Heck... this thing is very adaptable. I used it on one of those heavy 'Gorilla' ladders, the ones with the splayed ends. It attaches perfectly and adds almost no noticeable weight to the top of the ladder. This was the perfect solution for me and it stores compactly back in the box for the next time it will be needed. Good product, good value!

This bar greatly improves the stability of the ladder. It also provides a way to stand off from the vertical wall so that you can work on the fascia boards. The standoff distance is adjustable and fairly easy to move. Taking the bar off and on the ladder is simple but time consuming because you have to run four wing nuts quite a distance. With the bar on, the ladder will not go down all the way so back ladder has rungs halfway between the front ladder rungs and is probably a position to avoid. Pay attention to the directions when installing the standoff pieces. I would also add fender washers under the wing nuts here. For my ladder the U-bolt threads stopped too soon so it was not tight. I added over-sized nuts and some fender washers to allow a tight fit. Measure and draw a mark where U-bolts need to go so it will be easily centered for every install. I really enjoy the stability of this extension bar when working up high.

No more feeling like the ladder is going to slide sideways when your close to the top. I put it together then read the directions. :) Turns out the bolt is supposed to go in through the inside of the tube, secured by a nut, and wing nut is used for quick adjustment in extension. Took it back apart and tried to assemble according to instructions but the bolts were too long to assemble that way. Works just fine the way I assemble it without reading the instructions. I definitely like this ladder stabilizer.

Bought used "like new" from amazon. came missing all the hardware. I wouldn't put this in my review, except it happened twice.. Previously bought used "very good". This time around I decided to eat it and go get hardware from the hardware store with the playing card name. Two 3/8 6"x3" U-bolts ~$6 a piece. Two 8mm 2" bolts, ~$4 a piece (I used 1.25 pitch. the 8mm's fit snug in the pre-bored holes) I already had matching nuts and washers. It works and is set up now for me to do gutter repairs on our house. We have a ~3ft overhang.. so I needed one of these to keep my weight off the gutter while I replace the old nails with gutter screws.. hold it together until I can replace the fascia and plywood rotted away by the gutter separating from the fascia. Anyway. This is cheap in terms of material quality and design, but it's light weight. If I were a little more capable I'd make my own out of aluminum and feel good about it. but this will do. I'll be modifying the u-bolt attachment.. Maybe replacing them with long bolts going through drilled pieces of bar stock. The U bolts I got say they're not rated to support a person, but they were all that was available. This one will do the job for yuh, but be prepared to modify it. don't go up until you're confident it's safe. Edit: The u-bolts I got - the plate that they bolted through bent and became unsafe on my third trip up. I cut some aluminum angle I had lying around and used that to supplement. Now it's safe. In light of reading another review I also want to add that this stabilizer is aluminum - NOT STEEL. And that's a good thing. Before getting this I made my own stand-off out of lumber and it was too heavy for me to maneuver our 24ft. fiberglass extension ladder while extended. Weight is a big deal when it's up 18' and leaning away from you...
