I don't hesitate to write a less than stellar review when I am disappointed with a product.... and so it is only fair that I give KUDOS when a product arrives and it is better than expected. This stabilizer is very light weight.... but very strong and sturdy! It is really fast and simple to attach to the ladder and even quicker to remove. It is adjustable as to how far from the wall you need the ladder to be held. Our new kitchen cabinets were installed before I could finish the drywall patching and painting above the upper cabinets. A step ladder could not get close enough because of the lower cabinets and the extension ladder would rest on the upper cabinets before making contact with the wall above. This was the PERFECT remedy. I had looked at several stabilizers online and they seem 'limited' to holding the ladder about 7" from the wall. Heck... this thing is very adaptable. I used it on one of those heavy 'Gorilla' ladders, the ones with the splayed ends. It attaches perfectly and adds almost no noticeable weight to the top of the ladder. This was the perfect solution for me and it stores compactly back in the box for the next time it will be needed. Good product, good value! ... show more

    • Greatly improves stability

This bar greatly improves the stability of the ladder. It also provides a way to stand off from the vertical wall so that you can work on the fascia boards. The standoff distance is adjustable and fairly easy to move. Taking the bar off and on the ladder is simple but time consuming because you have to run four wing nuts quite a distance. With the bar on, the ladder will not go down all the way so back ladder has rungs halfway between the front ladder rungs and is probably a position to avoid. Pay attention to the directions when installing the standoff pieces. I would also add fender washers under the wing nuts here. For my ladder the U-bolt threads stopped too soon so it was not tight. I added over-sized nuts and some fender washers to allow a tight fit. Measure and draw a mark where U-bolts need to go so it will be easily centered for every install. I really enjoy the stability of this extension bar when working up high. ... show more

The Louisville adjustable ladder stabilizer model LP2210 was exactly what I needed to get the job done. I had to paint a house with a 2 foot overhang and to get to the fascia board was difficult and not to mention the precarious places near the ridge that reached upward 22ft high. The stabilizer is a simple fabrication, made of aluminum with adjustable standoff brackets for offset ranging 13in to 25in. The total standoff needed for this job was around 30in yet this stabilizer gave me enough room to do the work. The stabilizer arrived complete but did not come with an instruction manual. The instructions were written on the box but the shipping labels covered it making them unreadable. The item was delivered quickly but box looked crushed and I couldn't tell if the scuffed marks on the bracket inside was from the shipping or from the factory. The bracket adds about 5 pounds to the ladder so with the ladder fully extended it can make this a 2 man job. It is mounted 90 degrees to the ladder so when the ladder is propped on the wall, the stabilizer legs slide down the wall. In my opinion this compromises the strength and integrity of the ladder in general. But in my case it was sufficient although I had to take it slow, and use fall prevention tools. The end of the stabilizer legs were protected by hard black plastic socks which are both slippery and can cause scuff marks. I remedied this by covering the ends with Werner AC19-2 extension ladder covers.The stabilizer alone may not prevent a fall if the ladder happens to slip at the foot because no matter how tightly the two U bolts are tightly secured to the stabilizer and ladder there is a slight play in vertical movement. If the feet of the ladder is secured to the ground than this is not an issue. The adjustable arms are secured with one bolt each but I would prefer if there were 2 bolts. After completing the paint job I noticed the bracket was not in a true U shape but twisted. This item helped me get the job done but it may not be for everyone. With more work in its designed it may be my perfect ladder add-on. ... show more

This is a really nice and versatile standoff. The assembly directions are awful, but overall I'm really happy. I set it up last night to make sure it would work with my Gorilla ladder (27'), and it fit perfectly. I used it today at work and it was very light and pleasant to use. I would absolutely recommend this for guys who need a multi-ladder standoff. It works with Gorilla and Little Giant. ... show more

Works like a charm on my 16' extension ladder. Made it possible to paint window trim around my second floor windows without having to put the ladder against the windows themselves. I'm 70+ years old and not as secure working on ladders as I used to be - this worked well and felt nice and stable. Be sure to follow the directions when clamping it to the ladder so it stays locked in place and doesn't slip when in use. ... show more
