It is rare that I rate with 5 stars, but I felt that this ladder was worth it. I'm 86 and a stable ladder is important to me. I had earlier purchased a similar-rated ladder from another well-known supplier but was sceptical of the quality. I weigh 215 lbs, so it was on the margin. The Louisville FS4004 fibreglass 4-foot ladder was clearly, more robustly-made and sturdier. Whilst the sides and rungs were of similar material, the extruded rungs were wider on the front and back The steel spreaders were thicker and wider and secured with a larger rivet. The rung bearings, both front and rear, were plastic, large and wide and contributed to good lateral support, which I could not say for the competitor, which used simple diagonal metal strips. The front and rear feet were large and made for larger footprint which contributed to a steadier stand. I couldn't find any Canadian supplier, so imported it myself. I paid $10 more than the 'other guy' but feel well-justified in doing so. ... show more

Great ladder. It is light-weight, stable, and easy to carry around the yard. It is 8 feet tall but I can easily lift and carry it with one hand, and best of all it is tall enough to reach most of the gutters. No more pine needles in my gutters (well for a few days at least). And even though it is light weight it is very sturdy and stable. I can stand on the second to highest step and it doesn’t sway a bit. So great ladder. PS: mine came packaged in a huge box. Got the 4-ft version, a good ladder choice for college girls in an apartment. Allows them to change light bulbs on the porch and hang stuff on the walls, but not so large that it's difficult to haul around or store. Much sturdier than typical folding step stool type ladders.

I was pleased that I could order such a large item online and get it delivered. I wouldn't be able to fit this item in my car, and I didn't want to settle for a smaller ladder. There's no assembly necessary when this item arrives. Just move the little locks that hold the ladder legs together and extend them apart. I used this ladder to change air filters in my house, clear the guttering, change lightbulbs, etc. It feels very sturdy when you're on it, even on the top step.
