I got this for my son to see things magnified. I love it, and I really wish I had one as a kid. I think it's fun to use now. My kid has looked at our dogs' fur, bird feathers, fabrics, leaves, and anything that he can put this microscope on. I didn't think it would work so well being so small. I love that it has a screen so he doesn't have to use an app on my phone to see things or to take pictures and video. His other portable microscope is like that, and it was a pain to give him my phone just to use that microscope. I didn't know this microscope took videos. I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't formatted the SD card that I bought for this, so we can't save pictures or videos yet. I took pictures of the screen with my phone. These were just the things around me. The pictures are so much sharper and brighter on the actual microscope screen. The brightness is adjustable. It's easy to focus. We were so excited to start using this that we haven't even taken the screen protector off. I charged it up, and we started using it. It's so easy to use that I didn't need to give my kid instructions. He figured it out right away. It even comes with 2 prepared slides and other accessories. He really liked those slides, and he wants to see everything up close with this microscope. It's amazing how different things look up close. It seems to be well made and it has a lot of features and functions. It's something that kids and adults would really enjoy using together to look at the things around them. It's a good way to get kids into science because the results are almost instantly apparent on the screen. I think many kids and even some adults would love this as a gift, and I think most kids around 7 could probably use it on their own with some supervision so they don't break it by being too rough or careless. Some kids are much more careful and respectful with their belongings than others. My kid and I love it. This is a big hit.

What a nifty little gadget this LINKMICRO LMO13 microscope is! No, it is not an “electron microscope” like some reviewers though it should be, but for what it was designed to do, it does it very impressively. It allows you to control the illumination, the magnification, the focus, and displays the image on the integral display in full color, which I think is infinitely better than trying to view through a tiny eyepiece. You can also connect it to your Windows computer to view a larger image or store images directly. It will take a micro SD card up to 32GB (not included) to store both high resolution images or 1080P video. It feels quite rugged, but as with any optical or electronic device, the better to treat it, the better it will serve you. I don't know why they concentrate on children in their literature, because this would be a very useful tool in many areas where you need to see and document very small things but need portability. We live in an area where deer ticks and lime disease are a big problem and when my wife saw this LINKMICRO LMO13 microscope she though it would be a terrific way to document and verify what type of tick you might find. If you can send a picture to the Doctor's office, they can prescribe the prophylactic antibiotic, frequently without an office visit. Yes, I got this LINKMICRO LMO13 microscope to review, but if I had known about its great capabilities for such an incredible low price (at the time of this review) I know I would have purchased one to replace the really crappy, by comparison, digital microscope camera I have been using. Truly this is one of the best little gadgets I have seen and definitely is at the top of my “bang for the buck” list. I did not have a small enough micro-SD card on hand, but I have order some from Amazon (<$5/each) and when I get some interesting photos taken with the microscope camera, I will share them on this review.

I use this to go through an old coin collection. It is so much nicer than wearing jeweler's glasses. The record feature is really useful. It could be higher res but for the price this thing is very useful. I'm sure I could find a dozen uses for this microscope. Great buy for the buck.
