Description

Sansevieria Zeylanica 'Snake Plant' is a charismatic, hardy succulent that grows tall and upright. The Mother in Law's Tongue houseplant spreads from its rootstock, developing long, tapering spears. These leaves are leathery and variegated with shades of light to dark green. Horizontal patterning spans throughout the plant, giving contrast to its overall shape. Rigid foliage mildly twists with growth, lending diversity to the Devil's Tongue appearance. Snake Plant will thrive in most indoor conditions, it is an extremely durable species with drought and low light tolerance. For best results, grow this houseplant where it can receive moderate to bright indirect sunlight and watering once every one or two weeks after the soil has dried. For an earthy statement, grow Sansevieria with a round terracotta pot or try a modern presentation with a white or copper planter box. Snake Plant can stand alone or alongside close relatives such as Black Coral Snake Plant, Sansevieria Cylindrica, Sansevieria Masoniana, Sansevieria Moonshine, Sansevieria Trifasciata Bantel, Sansevieria Trifasciata Prain or Sansevieria Trifasciata Zeylanica. I’ve been wanting a snake plant for my bedroom for some time now. I couldn’t find a decent one in my local garden center. 🪴 I’ve purchased plants online before but never off Amazon. I found a variety of sizes, species and prices. I saw this brand and kept coming back to it. The price was good and most of the reviews were positive. Sizes of the plants were varied. I had a certain look I knew I wanted in the plant. I took a chance and purchased this one. 🌿 Delivery was fairly quick. The box was jostled around a bit as the edges were crumpled. (Not crushed) and it was delivered upside down. NO FAULT OF THE SELLER! BUT I have to say that packaging was above par. Excellent! Thank goodness too because if not, all the dirt would’ve been all over the box and the plant may have died. 🪴 Instead, the pot was well wrapped in plastic preventing any dirt to fall out. The dirt was still moist. The plant I received is HUGE! Over 24” tall! 🌿 No blemishes or cuts on the leaves. No nroken leaves. There was also 2 plants in the pot.🪴 Something I was not expecting! The color variation in the leaves is beautiful. Above and beyond my expectations! My Sansevieria Laurentii arrived intact and in perfect condition, and though the AI info says that it can be expected to reach between 13-15 inches from the top edge of its pot, the one I received is already 16 inches tall. It would have been ideal if all of the leaves were more or less vertical, but it's a plant and, like other living creatures, unique. So while the one I received is healthy and arrived unscathed, it does have one leaf that instead of being straight, spirals out wildly to one side, making in interestingly quirky. There are already two additional smaller, 2-inch leaves, so I'm looking forward to seeing them mature. Thanks to some other reviewers and some online research, I now know how to re-pot it properly, and purchased some of the Rosy soil available on Amazon, for cacti and succulents. Snake plants are pretty adaptable, though if you're doing research on their care, you may come across conflictiong information, some indicating that they're indoor plants that need bright but indirect sun (which is the exposure that mine gets) and others saying that they prefer lower light/partial shade, and do equally well outdoors. My neighbor has a tall and beautiful Sansevieria Laurentii in a pot by her front door, in an area that gets only early-morning sun, and it's very lush, with many elegantly upright, deep green leaves. Some of the websites I consulted stated that partial or early-morning sun exposure is sufficient, and my neighbor's snake plant seems to be thriving under exactly those conditions. I'm very happy with my snake plant, and when it gets taller, I'll move it outside as well, and get another couple of smaller ones for indoors. When I do, I'll definitely order from this supplier again. 10/29/25 UPDATE: The websites I visited when researching for further info and care instructions for this plant mentioned that it's a very slow grower, but I've only had my plant for a couple of weeks now, and the two smaller leaves that were about 2 inches high when it was delivered are now 4 inches high. But the taller leaves haven't gained in height, so it may be that only the smaller shoots grow fast, and when they reach a certain maturity, growth slows down. ... show more

I am pleasantly surprised with the condition and appearance of the plants! I purchased 2 plants and both are approximately 12 in tall. The leaves are shiny and wide and bug-free. I purchased the basic plants with the black pot which needs replacement, but I knew that. I’m looking forward to transplanting them into larger pots and watch them flourish.
