  • Worth the money.
Style: 10'-med Hvy-15-30lb-spin(upgraded)
This rod is great, sleek, light yet strong. Although more expensive than many rods in the market, it’s worth the money. Casting is smooth.

  • Rod Builder Review
Style: 12'-hvy-20-40lb-spin(upgraded)
Really impressed. Nice heavy duty Fuji real seat. A second locking nut would have been nice. Good Fuji guides but not completely crazy about number and spacing. Certainly good enough. One of the only budget heavers that can throw 8oz Weight (8&Bait). I fish The Point in Buxton NC and you need to be able to throw a heavy bait way out there for Drum & Sharks. I build rods but I have never built a " Hatteras Heaver". I plan to build one soon, but I needed something fast for my next trip. I was looking at the Bass Pro Shops Ocean Master 12'. It's on sale for $150 and it's known to be a decent rod. I ended up getting two Littma Rods and man are they both nice. I also like the BerryPro Ultimate Hunt for a lighter action rod. I use those for throwing 2oz jigs in the surf(Blues & Spanish). These budget brands are really bringing it. Not sure how long run durable they will be and how bulletproof the blanks are, but what I can see and feel is great. If you want something better, I think you have to jump in price to $400 for something like the St. Croix Seage or build your own on a Rod Geeks blank. ... show more

  • Seems well made, but this is my first surfcasting rod
Style: 12'-hvy-20-40lb-spin(upgraded)
I deducted one star since this rod does not have a hook keeper near the handle. A hook keeper is so useful, and costs the manufacturer practically nothing, especially when there is decorative line wrapping near the handle, as this rod has. I also find it frustrating when sellers combine various products on the same page. At the time of this review (12/28/2023) there are seven different rods on this listing. This makes it difficult to evaluate reviews, and increases the chance of accidentally ordering the wrong product. I am new to using a surf casting rod. I plan to use this on a medium size river in Minnesota to get my bait out into the main current, and also will use it when visiting my daughter in Florida. Surprisingly, the river has open water at the end of December, and I had a chance to use this rod. This is the first time I have used a surf rod, and it will take some practice, especially if one uses a baitcasting reel. I used it with a Penn baitcasting reel, 90 pound test line (recommended line test is 25 to 60 pounds), and a five ounce sinker (recommended sinker weights are 5 to 12 ounces). My line weight was higher than recommended and my sinker was on the light side of the suggested range. My casting attempts with this gear were a little disappointing as I ended up with a pretty bad backlash after about 30 casts, and my casts were not significantly longer than when using traditional freshwater gear. Next time, I'll try a spinning reel with 30 pound test line and also watch more YouTube videos on surfcasting. The rod seems well made and has the Zebco logo on the butt. My first spincasting reel was a Zebco my dad gave me about 65 years ago. Zebco has a soft spot in my heart, but it is challenging for me to evaluate this rod, since it is so different from anything I have ever used. If you are considering purchasing this rod, I’d recommend reading the reviews from persons with more experience using this equipment. ... show more

Best surf rod ever. I pair with a Shimano vanford 5000. It won’t let you down.

  • Well built and perfect for the price.
This rod will not disappoint you. Closest thing to this rod without the Fuji guides or rod seat at Dick’s goes for around $160. Casting and strength to hold a good amount of weight is all there. This paired with a 5000 reel gives the rod the perfect balance right! Btw it’s super light as well. Go for it! I like it so much I bought 2 more for my kids :) ... show more

  • It cast very nice

Really nice rod

  • Nicely built rod but specs are off for the 9-foot model
Style: 9'-med-12-25lb-spin
This is strong well-built rod with quality components. The specs listed for the 9-foot model are certainly a typo as the actual rod you receive says 15-25 pound line rating, not 12-15 pound. The rod is fairly stiff and very strong. The weight is medium, certainly not heavy but not as light as some rods of a similar size either. The power of the rod is definitely NOT medium. More like medium-heavy at the minimum. I'd say the rod is best suited for 20-25 pound line or even 30 pound with a moderate drag. The rod taper is really not medium fast. More like medium. The rod tip is still rather thick and stiff. This rod is best suited to throwing heavy sinkers a long ways. Don't expect tremendous sensitivity or flexibility in the tip section of the rod, but it is strong. Pretty good, but not perfect. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Nice
Style: 12'-hvy-20-40lb-spin
The build quality of this rod looks to be exceptionally nice for the price. The guides are massive, the epoxy all looks to be uniform, it's not excessively heavy for the size, and it was packaged far better than any rod Ive ordered from Amazon. It will be paired with a Daiwa BG 6500 which should look right at home and balance well on it. I live in PA so I won't be truly putting it through its paces until we head to the beach but I am going to take it catfishing before hand to see how it casts 4-6 ounce leads with a decent chunk of bait. I'll update my review after a few outting. ... show more
