I bought this to use in our pantry, which is not a huge space, but requires a-lot of light. It was a replacement for an no longer functional fluorescent light. I know I could fix that light, but didn't want to because I believe that this light should last for 30 years or so. The packaging was simple, but effective. I had very little space to install this and the light that I was replacing was not installed with a box, which would have been great for this. Since I didn't have that option, I used the pre-drilled holes to mount with the screws from the original light. I side mounted this, verses a ceiling mount, which is probably less than ideal, but it worked just fine. It provided a fair amount of light, but not nearly as much as some of the people said in their reviews and answers to questions. It did provide more light than the light I was replacing (single fluorescent bulb), so for us it was a net positive. Installation was easy, three wires which match normal wiring in the US. The wire nuts and mounting screws were provided. One thing to note.... You do need to remove the diffuser panel to mount the light, it was not super easy to reinstall. ... show more

This product was very easy to install. Simply connect 3 wires (don't forget to turn off the power to the room you're working in!) and screw the lighting fixture to the ceiling. The provided screws were not appropriate for the specific ceiling area it was attached to, but luckily I had the proper screws which fitted the into the holes just fine. So, just keep in mind that you might need alternative screws. The light coming out of this thing is more than enough for a small closet/room, but not more than that. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others. Just remember to take good measurements before you buy! ... show more

As others have mentioned, installation is not trivial. I had to drill holes to match my old shop light mounts. Also, they are hard-wired, which is fairly easy to do even if you're not an electrician, but not as easy as plugging it in. They only get 60 lumens per watt; most LED bulbs are at least 80 lumens/watt. These are less than half as as efficient as the flourescent tubes they replaced. ... show more

I chose this light because it has a steel body instead of aluminum. That said, it is pretty thin steel but much better than aluminum. The design is good because the lens is well retained. Installation for me was not straight forward. This light is made to be installed on a electrical box. My wiring just pops out of the sheet rock ceiling, so I had to put in some sheet rock anchors to mount the light and reroute the wiring to all internal to the fixture so it would mount flush to the ceiling. It is relatively light weight, so the sheet rock will support it no problem. My wife loves the bright light. I have yet to patch the ceiling holes from the old light, but the light is so bright no one wants to look up there anyway. :-) ... show more
