CAUTION- PLEASE READ: This supplement contains a preservative called sodium benzoate, which, when combined with Vitamin C/citric acid, can create and release a known carcinogen called benzene. The latter is a cancer-causing chemical associated with leukemia and other blood cancers. Google it, you'll find tons of info on it. Unfortunately, it's a cheap preservative for companies to use. It's especially disconcerting that it would be put in an iron supplement, because the most common vitamin taken with iron is vitamin C, due to the fact that it helps absorption. (You'll often see vitamin C added to iron supplements for this reason.) I really hope that one day the sketchy preservatives will be better regulated. Whatever you do, don't take this item with Vitamin C!! I am putting my pennies towards a safer supplement. I hope that others do too. Sooo not worth the potential for accidentally creating cancer/leukemia causing carcinogens(!!) - To me at least. Wishing you good health! ... show more

I literally just got my shipment in and ordered a ton more this iron has changed my life! I'm not being sarcastic and nobody paid me to say this. I have the sickle cell trait in my family and most of the people in my family are anemic and I have ignored it for years and recently I have been struggling to lower my cholesterol so I completely cut out beef and when I did that for 3 weeks straight I went to work and laid in the bed and it's all I could do and I felt like I was getting ready to die. I was taking iron tablets but it takes them too long to break down into your bloodstream and I didn't realize that. I bought this liquid iron because I kind of figured it out by accident and within a few days the change started. I've been taking it for almost 2 weeks and I feel amazing. Today at the gym I jog for 1 minute and I have not been able to jog for almost a year-and-a-half. A minute is nothing to you all but it was amazing for me. This has been a game-changer for me. Truthfully for my whole 41 years of living I have been feeling very cruddy and no one tried to help me I rarely went to the doctor growing up so I didn't even know what to do and have to figure these things out by myself to be honest. This product has been the only iron supplement that has worked for me. I love that it is easy to take, didn't upset my stomach and I personally enjoy the flavor. I was severely anemic. Since starting this product about ten months ago my serum iron has gone up nearly 100 points from 37 to 135! Even my doctor is amazed. For me, this product absolutely works where others have failed. I wanted to follow up on a lowered blood count, which popped back up again once I left the hospital. I also had been weaker, more tired, more easily fatigued. Found out my iron was low. I was NOT diagnosed as having any iron deficiency anemia, nor did I have any GI bleeding, which could account for a lower iron. All influence the type and dose of iron supplement needed. I first reviewed my meds with my physician to make sure there were no interactions. I looked for a low dose supplement with minimal potential side effects. To augment my diet. Found Wellesse. The amount of iron this supplies is 18mg - the amount required for women aged 19 to 50 - to compensate for menstrual losses. Subtle hint: the curve of the Wellesse bottle - but it just makes it easier to hold. Since adult males require 8 mg this provides a little extra to compensate for what I am not getting by diet alone. From what I read the iron glycinate chelate has fewer side effects and is better tolerated than ferrous sulfate. I take this with a vitamin C supplement to promote absorption. You can put it in a citrus juice to accomplish the same end. Instructions state to not take this within two hours - before or after- taking any calcium products. Just FYI things like cocoa, coffee and some fruits contain polyphenols that can inhibit iron absorption. There alot to consider with iron. Like not taking too much. More is not better with iron. This is easy to take. I use a highly visible measuring cup to get my 15 ml or cc dose. I am a klutz so using a tablespoon would just make me spill it more often than not. Nice taste. Berry flavored. With a touch of sweetness from the Stevia. Although it can be kept at room temperature, I keep it refrigerated. That weakness, tired feeling and fatigability has resolved with this. I also changed my diet to add more heme iron sources. Those are more bio-available than nonheme plant iron sources. I have taken this for over two months. Had no adverse effects. None of the common side effects reported with iron supplements. Amazon sells this at a great price. I love it. ... show more
