I have a very low iron deficiency so i decided to buy this and try. Today 8/3/26 was the first day I actually tried it. The taste is a Berry taste. Not nasty at all. I mix it with orange juice. Didn’t not upset the stomach or have a bitter taste. I will be buying this product again.

My iron was a few points below average so I chose liquid to raise it a little quicker. I put it in the shot glass for measurement sake; I don't own medicine dose cups. Anyways, I took my 1st dose 3.4.26 on an empty stomach with grapefruit juice for max absorbency. I felt like the liquid just sat in my chest for about 10 minutes which gave me a feeling of indigestion. I also felt terribly dizzy for about an hour but subsided, no nausea or constipation. It's grape scented, not flavored, has the consistency of prune juice & tastes like a roll of pennies. As it should. Nothing got rid of the taste; that went away by itself after eating. Next day the dizziness didn't come but got the heavy indigestion feeling again. Does what I need so I can get past the downsides. Wish it were clear for my teeth's sake, or at least came with a syringe to bypass my teeth but I'll purchase my own. ... show more

My dad had open heart surgery and exited the hospital severely anemic. The doctor's told him that he was going to need to either incorporate a large amount of iron-rich foods into his diet or start taking an iron supplement, or both. Even though I cooked iron-rich meals during the time that I was able to stay with him and care for him, it wasn't nearly enough. He was so fatigued and weak, experiencing lightheadedness and shortness of breath that his doctors were concerned when they saw him. He was supposed to be going on walks every day to build up his cardiovascular health, but he didn't have the energy to do them, and whenever he tried, he got so exhausted after even a small walk that he would have to sit down and rest for almost an hour before he would feel comfortable getting back up and walking again. They gave him a prescription for a liquid iron and he hated it. I researched anemia and iron supplements and read a ton of reviews on Amazon, finally settling on Wellesse. What a lifesaver! First, he has stomach problems because off the meds he has been on for the surgery; second, pill forms take longer to absorb than liquids. This is clearly gentle on the stomach and has not caused him any problems. This stuff tastes like a thickened grape juice or maybe prune juice, not the nasty coppery, medicine-y taste you get with other supplements. He mixes it with his grape juice in the morning and doesn't even notice the taste (I did try it myself, and found that it does taste better straight if it has first been refrigerated). Because this is amino acid chelate, it is already highly bioavailable, and I think that makes a huge difference. After one month, he went to the doctor for a follow-up and the doc was amazed! He actually took the time to call me and thank me for getting him on the supplement and tell me how impressed he was with the change in my dad because he had previously been so worried. Dad went from not being able to walk more than 100 yards without being out of breath to being able to walk several miles at a rapid pace. One month later, having continued taking the Wellesse, he is jogging 5 miles and then hiking another mile up a very steep mountain. I went with him for a few days and had a hard time keeping up with him. He just today went for bloodwork and we will get the results in a few days, but the dramatic improvement in his energy level and cardiovascular health speaks volumes.
