    • Surprisingly sturdy and comfortable

This was on sale and we needed/wanted a dark brown stool. To be honest, we didn't think, for the price, it would be as nice as this but it's very sturdy and comfortable. It's real wood and the color is great. If we had a game table, or high counter that needed seating, we wouldn't hesitate to buy more of these, especially at the lower sale price. We had one issue with the stool that I would be remiss not to mention. When we unpacked it, and it's nicely packaged for shipping, we noticed that, in a couple of spots, there were rough spots/blemishes in the wood. Part of that is the nature of real wood but one of them was a little scuff mark on the front, just below the seat. Since one of the reasons we bought this was for a photo/video shoot, and we thought this might show up on camera, we decided to take advantage of amazon's free returns policy and get a replacement.) Note that this was a very small flaw and didn't affect the function. The return process was simple -- UPS came and picked it up for free -- and the replacement stool was perfect all the way around. Because we think part of the issue is just the slight imperfections in the wood itself, we're not deducting any stars . . . this is a nice stool! One note: the warranty on the chair is 6 months but YOU are responsible for shipping it back to the company for repair or replacement. That sorta sucks on something that's this big so look it over carefully, and test it out, whlle the Amazon return window is still open. ... show more

    • The bar stools are well-made & attractive - but plan on getting seat cushions!

I love these bar stools -- both comfortable and very practical, being foldable. I am extremely pleased with them. I did need to purchase chair pads so that sitting would be comfortable and it's a bit of a hard size to find attractive seat cushions for that actually fit. But once I found the right ones (after quite a search), the chairs are truly comfortable, even for sitting for longer periods at the kitchen bar. It tends to be the place people like to gather at parties, or where dinner guests sit with a glass of wine, while waiting for dinner to be served. I can easily recommend these bar stools to anyone. Just do be sure to attach little pads to the feet bottoms so that they will be scratch the flooring, or make loud scratchy noise! They don't come with padding (which would have been a welcome addition, had they come with "permanent" rubber chair pads -- not merely for floor protection but also as a safeguard.) ... show more

    • It’s a good chair - but not for long sitting periods (Updated - 6 months in it hasn't held up great)

Pro: it seems sturdy. Folding and unfolding is super easy. It’s comfortable enough but prob better for short bits like when eating. Cons. I wish it had rounded edges to be more comfortable against my legs resting against various bars/legs. The seat is hard right to the edge. This makes it sturdy but also push into your legs a bit. The seat is padded but very hard underneath. I definitely have a bit of a bruised behind after sitting for a few hours. Kinda like after riding a horse when you haven’t in a long time. Will likely get used to it over time. I got it for use with my standing desk when I don’t want to stand. So it’s nice that it folds out of the way easily. It’s not the most comfortable for long time sitting. The height is nice and the bar for your feet is a good distance. Rounded edges and a softer seat and this would be 5 stars not 4 EDIT: August - 8 months in and a couple hours a day of use - I am dropping a star. Two reasons: 1) The padding in the seat has compressed a lot and the front top edge/corners where your thighs sit now have hard nodules that are thicker than the front middle of the seat (I'm guessing it's the hardware that attaches the seat to the frame) so the bumps kind of stick into your legs. 2) The black square of padding in the back was held in by wood pegs but they broke just with normal use of sitting in the chair, so now the padded square pushes out the back of the chair on the top meaning you're sitting against the hard wood top edge. It probably won't be long until the bottom pegs snap too and the whole square falls out. I don't expect this to last more than a year. Too bad. It was pretty good. Maybe if you used it like 20 mins a day to eat breakfast only it would last longer. But it seems this chair isn't really meant to be used. ... show more

    • Sturdy, fully assembled and well packed

This unit is a sturdy, locking, wood stool that DOESN'T WOBBLE like the cheap Big Box items. The specs are as given and is a decent looking stool. There are a couple minor issues with the stool. Firstly, the seat padding could be a little thicker, as it is only 1 1/2" thick foam. For me, this works fine as is, but if you're a 'heftier' individual, you may want to bolster the padding with a supplemental cushion or replace it with a thicker one (It appears that it is screwed down, so shouldn't be that difficult if you wanted to go that route). Secondly, although cosmetic only, there is a small portion on the left front leg towards the bottom where it appears the stain application is a little lighter than the remaining piece. It's only roughly 2 sq. in. section, and on the inside of the leg, so it's not a huge, visible blemish. All in all, I'd purchase another one. ... show more

I read the previous reviews, but I think these chairs are very comfortable for bar chairs. Nice height, very sturdy (usually you feel like you are going to tip over when you sit on bar chairs). Easy to fold up/ open up for use. Def worth the price.
