stools are very nice quality--solid hardwood. Assembly was a little tricky, but not horrible. One thing I absolutely agree with the other reviewer on is the fact that the seat has pilot holes for the screws in the frame, but not in the seat itself, so centering and attaching it to the frame is absolutely maddening--you have to flip the stool over and position seat in such a way that it looks to be centered, then screw in and hope that the seat doesn't shift....had a few do-overs. Once put together, however, the stools are solid and comfortable. update--had a problem with one of the stools, received a replacement stool free of charge. The replacement stool came with the seat pre-assembled to the seat frame, so the centering problem I had with the first 6 I purchased did not apply. Hopefully all of the new inventory will come with the seat attached as well. ... show more

I am glad that I chose to get these 'wooden; chairs, as opposed to the metal chairs. The reason being, these wooden chairs just look heavier and more study. The metal chairs may be just as strong but, the legs looked a little to me.

We purchased 3 of these stools for our kitchen bar, and I love them. They match my black cabinets very well, are surprisingly comfortable, and a good height for the counter. I love the x-back, it looks so nice with our set up. One of the chairs had a little issue with one of the bolts though; it wasn't made straight so we couldn't get one of them in, but there are two for each corner, and it still seems extremely sturdy. The only issue - the material is pretty soft. A friend was wearing embellished jeans (i.e. studs and other crap on the back pockets) and dented the seat a little. It was weird. We're planning on getting cushions anyway. ... show more

Several knicks in the wood, looks like it's been repainted, seat cracked where leg attaches, hides the crack but who knows if it will be structurally sound. Listing said weight capacity is 275 lbs, instructions say 225 lbs. Stool wobbles, just not a good quality piece.
