Got the set this past weekend and I can see why some have described the assembly instructions as lacking. We really do like the set, having placed it in our solarium so we can sip and snack while watching birds at the feeders on our deck. Here is what I'd recommend for putting this set together. Taken step by step, its easier than it looks. ASSEMBLY STEPS: 1) TABLE: Start with the table. It uses 3 well-marked pieces of hardware (A, D & E) for attaching the 4 legs. A short dowel at the top of each leg fits into a whole on the underside of each table corner. This part is very easy. Just follow the diagram where it shows how to arrange the washers and screws. The table can then be used to assemble the stools, but put a towel on it to protect the finish. 2) STOOL ONE: Lay one of the two stool legs (#4) down flat. Add a squarish wooden cross piece (#5) where a short dowel from it will fit into a matching hole near the top of the leg. 3) HERE'S THE TRICKY PART: Push the metal piece (F) into the only small hole on the side of wooden piece #4. Be careful to line up the hole with the hole coming in from the edge of the wooden piece. You'll see what I mean. Also keep the edge of the metal piece that has a Phillips head facing out so you can use it to twist it if needed. If the long screw (B) doesn't go into that hole, you can use a Phillips screwdriver to twist the metal piece into alignment. 4) After securing the wooden piece at one end, use the screws (C) to secure two of the long metal cross pieces (#6) to the same table leg. The metal pieces push into the only holes big enough to accommodate them. 5) Next attach the other leg (#4) to those wood and metal cross pieces to complete the bottom of the stool. 6) STOOL TWO. Steps 2-5 above. 7) ADDING THE CUSHIONS: Place the stool bottoms on their feet and wedge the nice cushions into the tops between the corners of the stool legs. They almost drop in but gets a bit tight. Push the corners in and down until they make contact with the wooden cross pieces you installed in step 2. 8) Turn the stools upside down and rest on the cushions. Drop the pointed wood screws (G) into the four holes (2 in each wooden cross piece). With some force at first, push and twist the screws in with a Phillips head. After you get some bite you don't have to push so hard. It will pull itself in and securely tighten itself to the bottom of the stool. 9) The little wooden buttons (H) you're wondering about get tapped into the holes along the legs where the screws (C) were used. Some will fall out when moving the stool. When one falls out I put a tiny drop of Elmer's glue on it to keep that from happening. I only use a drop in case I need to pop it out and tighten the screw underneath one day. This sounds complicated, but if you take it one step at a time it's kind of fun. I was completely lost at first, but after figuring it out, I actually enjoyed the process. Just keep a close watch on each screw and washer. Count them BEFORE opening the clear plastic to make sure you started with the number needed. Only open each as you need them. They are easy to misplace. One note about the table top. Another reviewer mentioned a small dent or nick in an edge of the table top. Ours has a small blemish, too. It doesn't stand out though. In spite of that, I'm glad to have this set, as it looks nice, is sturdy and is a good value for the price. The soft leather of the cushions looks and feels of good quality, and is comfortable. Needed a small table for the breakfast nook area. This one had the ideal dimension and colors. Good price too! Assembly Was easily to assemble. Assembled it solo and took under an hour. Instructions are easy to follow. Quality Saw reviews about quality so was on the lookout. Quality issues were minimal. A couple of small scratches on both of the long sides. Easily colored with a permanent black marker. Seat cushion had a little hole. Will need to check YouTube for a solution to keep it from growing. Some reviews mentioned the chairs felt wobbly. I found the same but minimal. Issue may be the pre-attached pads on the bottom to keep from scaring flooring. I sat on 1 chair for about an hour...wobble went away so thinking it's a settle thing. Only significant quality issue I found was with one of the size B bolts being broken. It was my last one so almost comical. Went to HomeDepot and picked up a replacement (not exact match) that worked perfectly. Company owes me a dollar and change. LOL ... show more

Great color and appearance. The height of this table is very practical. You can make it into an extra counter given your circumstance. You have to tighten the connections but overall this was a very good buy as it does act very sturdy. I wish the stools were a bit better but they made it about 2 years before I caved and trashed them. Recommended depending on your circumstance. ... show more

I was looking for an inexpensive table to use for our laptop. When I saw this one the size seemed perfect and I definitely thought the price was right. I wasn't interested in the barstools because I planned to use extra chairs from our counter height dining table, but figured I could probably find a use for them somewhere else. The table turned out to be the perfect size for the area I had in mind and I really like the look of it. However, there were definite issues with assembly. First of all, it appeared from the instructions that assembly of the table consisted merely of attaching the legs to the table top and voila! Not so. The top needed to be attached to the support frame (I don't know what you call the frame that the table top sits on) and there was no hardware provided to do that, nor were there any steps for this process included in the instructions. I attempted to use some of the screws that looked like "extras" but they poked thru the top of the table. Nice. I was able to find some screws in my garage that worked okay. The rest of the table went together as expected after that. Then came the barstools. The first one went together without a hitch. The second one, however, was another story. It turned out that two of the legs were defective and the holes for the screws were not threaded properly, and one of them was cracked. Again, since I'm not using the stools, it's a minor inconvenience for me, but if you're counting on them, that would be a serious bummer. If the table legs had been the defective parts, I would have returned the item immediately. I attempted to contact the manufacturer this morning for replacement parts but had to leave a message and so far have not had a call back. Overall, the product is impressively good quality for the price. The table top is a beautiful faux marble (very brown -- I was looking for more black but I'm okay with that) and it's sturdy, but there are some definite glitches. It might just be my bad luck. I had a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 stars because I really do like the table, but with the problems in the assembly process I had to go with 3. ... show more
