My mother lives in my wife's and my basement. I know what you are thinking... "You make your mom live in the basement?". Relax. It's a nice basement. It has windows the look out on a park, and bunnys to fatten up for eati... I mean, enjoy watching, right out the door. The issue is that this means I live with my wife, daughter, and mother. I am surrounded by estrogen. So, when I realized that the internet was sub-par in the basement, and my mom was coming up to the main floor (where I eat, and sleep, and play video games) to use the internet, I realized that I had to find a solution. Fast. I purchased this in a panicked fervor. Would it work to reach the depths of our partially underground priso... er... mother-in-law suite? Would it really help to make my life easier (read: less naggy)? I had no clue, but it was worth a try. I am happy to state that I no longer have to worry about my gaming sessions being interrupted, and I can hear her old-people roku-powered channels turned up to 100, so it must be working. Thank you for saving the day! (This is pure satire. I don't lock my mother in the basement. She is free to come and go as she pleases. I would give it 5 stars for the Range Extender but I need to subtract a star for the poor/incorrect setup instructions. One of the first screens asks to identify which extender you purchased but the list doesn't include the RE6350 which this is. Also the link address given doesn't really connect to the extender. I recommend using the WPS method to get the extender connected to your router. You can find YouTube videos on how to set this up. I also found a setup guide on line but it is missing the illustrations, weird, HUH. Update 3/12/2018: Unit returned today, Worked fine aat first, good performance than it srtarted acrting flaky, I tried several times to take it back to factory condition but finally had to throw in the towel.     • Avoid this Linksys RE6350 Product - constant resets needed

My Linksys RE6350 arrived less than a week ago. The retail box and the unit did not have any cosmetic imperfections. It looked new. The initial setup was easy and it was running in both 2.4G and 5.0G extender modes for my NY Spectrum cable service. I noticed immediately the wireless printer at the far end of my home can now print faster. This was a key reason why we bought this Linksys Extender. Things worked for the rest of the first day without drama. The next morning, the Linksys RE6350 stopped working. It still broadcast the 2 SSID extensions but they were not connected to the main modem / router. In order to make the RE6350 work again, a hard reset had to be performed. My first call to Linksys technical support happened after the next failure after the first reset. The Linksys tech rep was extremely friendly but the wait time was long. The whole call took nearly an hour and no attempts were made to read the RE6350 logs to ascertain the reasons for the drop in connection. The call merely worked through basic setup and reset procedures found online or in the instruction booklet. Another day passed and the RE6350 stopped working again. We moved the unit closer and closer to the main modem / router each time after more resets. The unit never worked for more than one day without dropping connection to the main router. The second and third call to technical support did not generate any new error checking steps. Just another 2 hours wasted. Again, the reps were friendly and they tried very hard to stay on script. After a total of four calls to technical support, another call to customer service informed me that Linksys can either replace the unit they now deem defective, but I would have to pay for the shipping. Save yourselves the time wasted trying to get this Linksys RE6350 extender to work. ... show more

Everything about this Linksys is EASY. Easy packaging (don't you hate wrestling & yelling at layers of plastic?) Easy instructions. Easy to set up. Love that it gives you a clear visual about the best place to place it in your home for best boost/extension. It's small & sleek & unobtrusive. Even a non-tech person like my husband can set it up (that's saying something!). Really easy to use too - you'll have your same wifi, but with an "_ext" at the end of it to hook up any device to wifi using the extender. After trying several locations around the house the best I can get is about one bar more then just the modem alone. I have a very small house and wanted stronger WiFi in the back yard. I used the placement software that comes with the device but can not improve it. I'm thinking about returning it, disappointed. :( Update: After many attempts and a lot of frustration I have better results to report. Setup was a bit confusing when selecting dual band. Also setup defaulted to a different encryption standard, that was the main problem preventing me from completing a proper setup. After selecting the one used by my Comcast modem the setup completed and completed properly, finally. I get a strong signal, it works well. 4 out of 5 stars because of the confusing setup. ... show more

Didn't work and was far too difficult to get someone on the phone. I thought it would be easy enough to troubleshoot, but even two tech guys came to the house and said "this just doesn't work for you and we aren't sure why. It's likely the product itself." Forgot to return it within 30 days and ate the $50. I'll give it to you for nothing. So frustrating. ... show more
