We were at the point where our wifi was dropping a dozen or more times a day. We got a new modem first, through our provider, and the issue persisted. I knew the router we had was older and it was time for a new one, but I was resisting because I wasn't confident in the process as I had not set up what we did have. I found this router and went with it because it was in budget and was a name I knew of. It came quickly. I downloaded the app and followed the instructions, and it was soooo easy! I named the network and set the password right in the app on my phone. I had told my teenager to plan to be off awhile and he was shocked when I was telling him to try logging in just moments later. I waited a few days to review - to be sure it was all good. And it is. No more dropping internet and having to reset multiple times a day. I don't have any nodes with it - just the router. I was hesitant in replacing my daughters existing wireless that was installed by the provider a while back. But things seemed so slow I went for it. This only took minutes to install and I could see an immediate improvement. The streaming of my news channel and the speed of my connected computer were very noticeable. I ordered one for my home. My son in law measured the up load speed of the new router. It went from 35 of the old one to 176 for this one. For non techie me it means it is faster. Five times. Totally happy with this purchase.     • routers can be intimidating

for non-techie, routers can be intimidating. 1.) download the app to your smartphone (there's a pamphlet in the box) using current WIFI or mobile if you have to. don't have to create an account with the linksys app but you can. 2.) install your modem first, so the signal is hot. take a picture of the router info (label on bottom of device). 3.) go through the process, connect to the setup WIFI signal and run it through the screens. very easy to use. setup in less than 10 minutes. firmware update was auto-prompt as well. not the most secure, but routers really aren't, they are really just for convenience & scalability that a modem alone doesn't/can't provide with 1 network connection. linksys has always been solid. if you do use the default IP 192.168.1.1 it will redirect to linksys site to reset the admin password before it takes you to your dashbaord. I would suggest industry standard complexity for the admin passphrase as they are historically discovered to be weak. think passphrase - easier to remember. example: AmazonShoppingisEasyasP!3 P.S. make sure to set the WIFI pw different than the admin dashboard pw! and back the passphrases up to your cloud storage so if your machine dies/crashes you have the data. hope this helps! ... show more

FYI, this will not bridge to any router except Linksys....and that is almost impossible to learn from the documentation. Update: Works great when you finally work around the App. and the documentation. The App. is slow, multiple disconnects, small font, little indications what variables can be changed. Lots of room for improvements...but the hardware is sound when it is all set up. Just know what you are getting into. ... show more

i upped my internet speed and found the older router could not handle the WIFI needs so i when to my go to mcompany Linksys and look through and looked at the options and this one allow for all my devivces to link up to it and streams well while i am gaming too... and it was a good price for the pre amazon prime day ... show more

Bought to replace a cheap router in a relatives house. They had multiple devices using old router coming off a cable modem. Set up was well documented and straightforward, very easy to change the routers name and password to the old one. All worked without a flaw.

While I can say? Plug and play was the setup. It has been long time having an easy setup. Connect to the box and Just add my password. That was the hardest thing to do. The streaming TV is working. Computer and TV working when both are on. It was half the price. Very please with it.
