The electrical lines going down the tube are fragile. I had a professional electrician install it. The issue we ran into was the fine wires were almost too delicate to put into a wire tie with the standard American copper lines from the early 80s my house is wired with. While a challenge, it's not insurmountable with the right support. For this install, it took 2 people to hold and wire, then reposition the screws, tighten the baseplate, then tighten the fixture to the baseplate, while having the lines stY inside the base out of the way. First of all— I don’t mind assembly. That was fine. But the wires, all 8 of them are cut too short as they arrived to make a good connection. I exposed a bit more wire to make the connection easier. Still, the caps that were included in my set up were too small to accommodate the bulk of all the wires snd one would keep pulling out with the challenges of mounting that others mentioned. I enlisted the help of my neighbor and even with taping, it appears that a wire ‘escaped’ the capped and taped connection. Not knowing this, I installed $25 dollars worth of decorative bulbs and flipped the switch only to have a spectacular blow out that fried one of the sockets and all but one of my bulbs. Now I need to have an electrician come in to make sure the surge didn’t fry anything else. I’m out all the bulbs and that money, too. Returning the light. It would have been easily fixed by including caps that are a bit lager and having the connection wires a bit longer— and I’m wishing I had some larger caps on hand instead of trying to make what was sent work. Overall, this is a beautiful fixture. However, putting it together and installing it was very difficult. The fixture comes in pieces so you have to put the entire thing together, which wasn’t the hard part. The instructions that were sent was just a small 4x5 piece of paper with 2 pictures on it. The first picture has all the pieces of the fixture labeled with letters so you know which piece goes where. But the pieces of the fixture itself are not labeled, so you still have to figure out which piece goes with what letter (which kinda makes the idea of the letter labels useless). Once you have the fixture put together, there are several wires that need to be arranged. The second picture on the instructions is showing you how to put those together, but that picture is very vague and doesn’t explain anything. My husband had to get on YouTube to find a video for a similar fixture to figure out how to get it all wired. Once he got that figured out, it was time to install. We had a difficult time tucking all those wires up into the ceiling and then getting it fixed into place. I would say the entire process from start to finish took us 3 1/2 hours. I would not buy this again, but it was worth it and sure looks beautiful in my dining area. ... show more

I like this light fixture. It was a bit of a pain to assemble (tedious), but not difficult. The biggest problem however was mounting it to the ceiling box. The machine screws that are provided on the mounting fixture are just 1/4” too short and made for a very frustrating install. If your j-box is recessed into the ceiling at all, it will be nigh impossible to get the mounting nuts engaged with the screw threads. Another point of complaint would be the wire connector bus (x1) supplied with the light is only for 6 wires, not the 8 required for all legs. And they only supplied one, not two for both the hot and neutral wires. ... show more

The fixture looks great and we're super happy with it. Definitely get ready for your shoulders to feel the burn for install cause that plate takes a bit to get aligned the right way while you're holding it. Great for the price though. Thanks!
