I purchased this last minute when I found out my dog sitter was bringing her tiny floof over to house sit with our dogs. She’s told us several times about how her dog likes to hop up on the bed and pee. The mattress protector is water resistant to the small amount of fluid that I split on it but I didn’t do a thorough test of it. I wanted to make sure this mattress protector was quiet and not like the old school crunchy ones. The mattress protector is really soft and makes no noise. I would say after laying on it that it’s not very breathable but I think that is a given with this type of product. I have a memory foam mattress with a pillow top cover that makes it difficult to find sheets that fit well but this mattress protector fit like a glove. I will say I have not washed it yet but it seems like a great bargain for the price and quality. ... show more

This protector actually proved to be waterproof, not just resistant. It was a little less urine-proof but still more than enough with a pad underneath. The elastics are strong and easily hold place. A topside-only protector is a waste of money.

After many many washes it is standing up for being durable. Even though it is water proof it still has some breathability to it and not too hot for sleeping comfortable. The fit on a twin mattress that has deep sides is perfect. Snug and not too tight to risk tearing it. Even though it isn't to be bleached the stains still come out with regular soap and cold water wash on gentle. Doesn't require a second fitted sheet on top. This is a good waterproof cover for the mattress. The only downside is that sometimes my kiddos will have an accident on their bed and it doesn’t really prevent the odor from going away when I pull out the waterproof cover from the mattress I can smell odor so it doesn’t really Prevent that which it pretty much says that it is waterproof, but I’m not sure how strong the waterproof is ... show more

We just bought one of those bed-in-a-box kits from Amazon, and a lot of the reviews recommended a mattress protector. We have two dogs and two cats, all getting up there in years, so unfortunately accidents will happen once or twice a year. We have a portable wet/dry cleaner for such situations, but the new mattress is memory foam, and I wasn't sure if even a wet/dry vac would be able to fully get through 10 inches of memory foam. I was a little worried because some of the reviews mentioned this protector only being waterproof on the top, but the one we received was waterproof on the top and all four sides. It is large and stretchy enough to cover a mattress even taller than the one we got, so if you have a 12 or 14 inch mattress it should likely fit it as well. Another thing to note is that while it does use plastic as a waterproofing layer, it does not crinkle, isn't noisy, and doesn't create the discomfort you may have seen with similar mattress protectors. Honestly we don't even notice it's there, since we have a regular fitted sheet over top of it. Best of all, it is washer safe, so if one of our elderly pets does have an accident, we can toss the sheet and sheet protector in the wash without worry. ... show more
