  • Powerful little welder and so incredibly light
Style: Welder and Gun
I love this little welder. It's not the most powerful, but it makes up for it's deficiencies with its weight, and portability. I use this thing for small welds on my ATV's and Projects around my garage. Being able to put it over my shoulder with the carry strap makes it so much more versatile and useable when you have to move around quite a bit. ... show more

  • Perfect Backpack FC Welder
Style: Welder and Gun
I bought this unit to use for repair and fabrication after my experience with the Hobart 140. That Hobart was like 57lbs so would put it on a cart, which at that point might as well put a gas bottle on it and run mig for an all around smoother weld but now it’s massive and unwieldy. This Century FC90 is the epitome of a backpack welder (but don’t run it in an actual backpack lol) Pros: -Very light weight (18lbs loaded) -120v so that means 3 prong wall outlets -Fairly smooth welding arc when running E71 by any reputable manufacturer like Hobart or Blue Demon ect. -Come out the box ready to rock .35 wire (wire not included) Cons: -The tensioner for the wire spool feels like it does pretty much nothing. Haven’t had it unwind tho just makes me nervous. -Duty cycle is not like a Hobart 140 where you can be going full power almost all day long. -Some might say the roller assembly feels cheap but not to the point of falling apart, just not like Miller or Lincoln strong where you could probably hit it with a hammer and it would still keep going. All around definitely worth the money! I’d say best use is for domestic repairs, light fabrication, and just a nice sortable Flux Core gun. Do keep in mind it cannot change over to gas like mig or dual shield. ... show more

  • A nice, small-job welder that runs on 15/20A-120VAC
Style: Welder and Gun
I'm not a welder but I was really interested in trying/learning it someday. As luck would have it, we lost the arm from a piece of Woodard steel framed patio furniture in our set. Perfect! So, I did a little research and settled on this unit. It's a nice, small-job welder that runs on 15/20A-120VAC. After a little practice on some scrap steel, I was able to repair the arm and add strengthening welds all around. This unit had plenty of power to easily repair the furniture. I doubt it was necessary, but I changed out the "ground" clamp with a copper jaw unit before I ever started using the welder. The supplied clamp was pretty flimsy, but was probably fine for the power of this unit. I don't like the shoulder strap/attach method so much. I'd prefer a carry handle. The strap just sort of hangs around and gets in the way. If the strap is made short (like a handle), then you can't flip open the welder top panel to get access to the wire/drive mechanism inside. It needs a quick disconnnect. I'll rig up something. Still, I like this little guy. It's adequately powered for most residential use, small, convenient and seems well made. Can't wait for the next piece to break. ... show more

  • Believe the 1 star reviews straight trash machine
Style: Welder and Gun
I bought a brand name unit thinking somehow that it might be quality. All I did was flush 200+ dollars straight down the toilet. I opened this gift to myself after the return period ended, big mistake on my part. Did not work right out of the box. I was really hoping the 1 star reviews were BS but nope. Will not strike an arch. Seller was no help because it was "out of return window" manufacturer is happy to have me pay to have this BRAND NEW unit be repaired so it will actually work. Needless to say everything on here is crap and quality is a thing of the past. In this sellers defense home depot and Lowes have the same reviews of the units being DOA. ... show more
