I purchased this for my 8 year old son. He had expressed an interest in this sport and since he attends a private school that doesn't have an athletic program for elementary children, we thought this would be a minimal investment to see if he really would follow through. The installation went smoothly and took about an hour from the time we got it out of the package until the base was filled with water and ready to go. We decided to fill the base with water instead of sand so it would be less messy to empty when we needed to bring it in for winter. No need to worry though because we just adjust the height so it can fit under the garage door and roll it in each night. It is so easy to adjust and there is plenty of room to grow with your child. My son absolutely loves it. Now instead of sitting in front of his Wii U or playing Minecraft nonstop, he actually is excited to go outside and try to shoot hoops. I love the fact it is adjustable so that in the beginning it can be set at a height where the kid can actually make some hoops. This has given my son so much confidence! So far this system has been plenty sturdy and it has never even come close to tipping over. I have no complaints. The price is reasonable, the basketball system is plenty stable and it makes our son very happy!

I’ll start with the positive. The product is great quality for the price. A very solid metal rim, sturdy backboard and pole. “Could be”easily put together. My 4 & 5yo loved it instantly. Now the cons are only 1. But it is a very important one. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. READ THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU START UNWRAPPING THE PLASTIC FROM THE PARTS. THE DIRECTIONS FOR THE FIRST FEW STEPS ARE NOT EXPLAINED CLEARLY....AT ALL. There is a step in this process that is not able to be undone. I read other reviews prior so I was expecting this. I didn’t go too far but I did separate a pole section that is supposed to be unwrapped without removing the pole inside. This will make more sense as you start putting it together. After the pole assembly it is easy sailing. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it. Keep your kids away when you start assembling it...you will say WTF several times.

We read all of the reviews before we purchase the product and new going in that the multiple parts of the pole needed to be installed in the correct order. The instructions were clear, there is a YouTube video that was very helpful as well. The most difficult part of the install was the backboard and the rim because the backboard and the rim both attached to the pole with the same two screws so you have to hold the backboard and the rim lined up perfectly with the holes at the top of the pole and feed the bolt through all of it at the same time. It took multiple of us to line everything at and get the bolt through. Ideally it would have been easier had the rim attached to the backboard and then to the pole separately. Trying to have all of the pieces line up to get the bolt through was difficult. The bolt on the pole when putting the pole together with the multiple pieces was difficult because it doesn't fit all the way through and then screw on with a screw. You have to feed two different bolts and one from each side and then fasten them together. It's a great product for the price point and for the size that we needed. Assembly wasn't overall too difficult as long as you made sure you had all of your parts and you read all of the instructions. The YouTube video was very helpful. Little things that could change would be having a larger bolt for the pole so that you have an easier time of assembling if only one person is doing the task. And some sort of other way for the rim to attach to the backboard. But if you go into it knowing that these are the things that you'll spend the most time on, and you take your time to make sure that you do it right the first time it's a relatively easy product to put together. The instructions say it takes two to three hours for two people to put it together. My husband put the majority of it together and I helped him with the rim and the backboard since we needed two people to hold that while feeding a bolt through. It took just over 2 hours.

First off this is not a regular sized driveway portable system that costs near a hundred or more. That being said, this is the PERFECT set for kids aged 6-18 for casual fun recreational basketball with a full size basketball if you choose, yes the rim is full sized. If you play with a mini basketball, even more fun. This is the best set for the money. Quality powder coated steel with easy manual telescoping. Easy adjustment knob/screw for setting heights. It can be as short as 5 feet rim to ground or as high as 7.5 feet. My kids are 13 and 9 and they love it, either with a full size or mini size basketball. The backboard is plastic, but a solid filled kind of plastic that will not get brittle or crack. It handles backboard shots just fine. Components are sturdy, base is recommended to be filled with sand, and we did and it will not tip. It comes with a 5 year warranty as well. Bought for $68.00 we love it. BTW we had a previous lifetime mini-set for toddlers-8 years old and it lasted 10 years! This seems just as durable or even moreso. Very impressed! Again, won't cut it for team or teenager team play but for kicks on the driveway for fun this can't be beat! Highly recommend, highly pleased!

This thing is incredible, easy to put together. I don’t understand the bad reviews where people are complaining about the assembly. It couldn’t be any easier. I kept it at the shortest height and my four year old grandson can’t get enough. For the price it’s great!
