  • Great buy
Great bag for beginners or intermediate level boxers or mixed martial arts... stuffed mine with old clothes had stacked up in the closets Plus went to my local Goodwill and ask them if they had any items that they were throwing away because they were too damaged to sell and fill the rest of my bag with it plus a small bag of sand in a bag in the middle... mine weighs about 45 to 50 lb.. as you can read with other reviews the bag is prone to tearing on the outside right where the three straps connect but it is reinforced on the canvas side inside the bag... to prevent the tearing I have found that if you take the bag down when you're not using it it will last a lot longer and any more than about 50 lb you're really increasing the tearing rate... I use mine roughly 2 to 4 times a week average workout 30 minutes and I go hard and I have used it for about two and a half months I think and it's still hanging strong... yes it is torn on the outside where the straps connect but like I said it is reinforced on the second layer where it's attached to the canvas... for the price you can't beat it... but actually you can beat it LOL ... show more

  • Good punching bag but limited lifetime
I have purchased three of these bags over the past four years. I fill mine mostly with old shirts and rags. This bag lasts about a year and then it rips apart where the chains attach to the bag. For the expense this seems like an OK compromise. I live in the SoCal desert and this bag gets plenty of heat and sun but not too much rain. Good while it lasts. ... show more

  • Pretty darn good bag for the price!
You already know this is a less expensive bag than some of the others, by a lot. And the reviews and pictures that show how the black part pulls away is in fact what happens when you put stuff in it and hang it. However, despite punching and kicking it myself and my son the initial tear has not widened at all. So while it looks ugly close up it has not affected the performance of the bag in any way. We put 10 lb of sand at the bottom and fill the rest with old clothes. It functions very well and saved me at least a $75. I would recommend and I would buy again 4⭐ ... show more

  • I wanted to love it, BUT.....
I wanted to love it, perfect price for a first timer, I loved the old school canvas look. I researched long and hard on how and with what to fill it with. I settled on the following recipe. - 1 bag length section of carpet rolled in the inside, softside against the canvas. This kept the bag open and gave a more solid, non lumpy, striking surface. - 1st layer on the bottom, shredded, wadded t-shirts, about 2 inches worth. - 10 lbs of peagravel in a garbage bag. - 5-6 inches of shredded, wadded cloth - 10 more lbs of peagravel in a garbage bag - 2 queen sized pillows mashed all down and compressed by another - 10 lbs of pea gravel in a garbage bag -topped with a few old blankets and zipped. All was compressed as filled with a giant ole 2x4 mashing stick. Bag was lifted and dropped a few times to make sure things settled and no odd lumps. I'm guessing total weight was maybe 60 lbs, with the chains attached. It was tough, but I was able to lift it up a ladder with one hand, so it couldn't have been too heavy. First session, man I felt like Rocky Balboa, jabbing here cross there, a few uppercuts, it was nice, the "middle" was softer because it was the cloth, but there were hard sections from the pea gravel. I heard you have to work it few sessions then add more material to refill the settle. I unfortunately never got there. After just 2 session, remember I'm a noob, so we're talking 15 minute sessions max, no kicking, no hanging, no kids. tonight on my second session I noticed that 3 of the 4 ta bs that the chains are attached to have burst their stitching. The bag isn't too heavy, I wasn't to hard on it, just poor craftsmanship or a freak dud. Luckily return policy is no hassle, well I have to empty it, but at least I get a refund. ... show more

  • Great value
Perfect. We filled it tightly with socks and it's working great. I was surprised at how nice it is for the $$ I paid. Very pleased. Our girls use it for their self defense class.

  • Good quality
Just what I expected. I stuffed my bag with pillow catton so it's lite, but it helps with extending my reach.

  • Life Gears Canvas Punching Bag with Chains is a great investment.
Perfect for someone looking for an inexpensive, durable unfilled canvas heavy bag. Fill it light or heavy, this bag with hold up to many good workouts. Prior to filling the bag, research what material is best to use. Straight sand or dense sawdust works well, but settles and makes the bag heavy and hard to hit. Old cloths and rags provide decent packing material, but leaves the bag light and with soft pockets. I found that filling 1 gallon bags storage bags with sawdust or shavings works very well. Some research suggests duck taping the filled gallon bags for increased protection, but recently I removed packing to increase the bags density, and out of dozens of filled bags, only 1 was broke. What was suggested, and so far I've found to work, is find some clean shavings or sawdust. Remember that shavings are thicker, lighter, and will take up more room. Lean towards CLEAN sawdust if you can. Fill 2, 1 gallon bags 3/4 full. Push out the air and seal. Put those, evenly, in the bottom of the bag. Pack on them a layer of cloth material. Now, repeat this until you reach the top of the bag and can still close the zipper. ITS VERY IMPORTANT to make sure you compress each layer as you go. This ensures somewhat equal padding throughout the bag. Keep in mind that, as you compress, some material may pop out of the bags. That's ok. Still better than pouring it in freely. For less than 20.00, if I had room, I'd buy a dozen for presents. Treat it like any other piece of equipment, and you should enjoy it for a long time. ... show more

  • Decent
As others mentioned the black wrap immediately starts to find its way off but it doesn’t seem to matter. Good price if you can figure out a decent filler: it has taken me several tries even trying suggested online ideas. What worked for me was a bag of sand on bottom, wood shavings in the middle where I hit & kick, & another bag of sand on the top. ... show more
