  • Great A/C Unit
Have only just installed it, but I will only purchase LGs because they have lasted the longest and cooled rooms on a consistent basis. This is my first "ThinQ" (WiFi) unit, which can be controlled not only through the regular hand-held remote, but through the LG app, which has a lot more 'bells & whistles'. And it's the quietest model so far. I like that it monitors its operation and has a "Smart Diagnosis" module for trouble-shooting. Also gives current room temperature through the app. It's supposed to work with Alexa, but hasn't so far. Will keep trying. ... show more

  • Very cold
I like the fact that I can turn the Ac with my cell phone an hour before I leave from work, or I can program it to turn on and off ( 3 pm to 5 am ). Room is 325 square feet It's a little loud when the fan is set on high speed, I've used it for 3 years now and no issues with it PS. It's very cold.

  • Great AC
I’ve been looking for a while for a new AC to replace my 5000BTU. This 8000 throws air very well, I think it’s pretty quiet, and cools quickly. Having the Wi-Fi capability is nice so I can see the temp throughout the day and change if for my cats. I went with this because of the LG brand and it has so far not disappointed. ... show more

  • TAKE THE RUBBER PLUG OUT OF OUTLET HOLE ON BOTTOM ! Causes Rust and such
The media could not be loaded. Hey all , “Quick heads up! If, like me, you’ve noticed some rust forming on your air conditioner after a short period (around two months), here’s a handy tip. Take a look at the bottom of the air conditioner, and you’ll find a round rubber plug on the bottom right side (when facing it). I recommend removing this plug while using the air conditioner or during the summer if you prefer. This will allow any water that accumulates during operation or in dry mode (humidity setting) to escape. Unlike some other air conditioners where the water drips out without having this piece, this one is different but a good idea. Upon removing the rubber piece, a decent amount of water was released—so be prepared! A bit of caution is advised. I cleaned the area using Q-Tips (make sure the air conditioner is unplugged!). I’ve seen other customers complain about rusting and ineffectiveness over time, and this could very well be one of the contributing factors.” Otherwise the air conditioner works nice and keeps the place very cool. Also it is relatively quiet. Very satisfied with it so far. Take care all and hope this helps .. For reading this far I will leave you with a quote. “ I don’t know what the definite key to success is but the definite key to failure is trying to please everyone “ Be well and be safe out there. ... show more

  • Great for the price!
I got the scratch & dent one. Although a little banged up, it was in new working condition. The wifi setup was easy and you can tell the unit was new. It just looks like it might have fallen off the pallet or shelf and had some damage to the outside housing, but nothing that kept it from working. I just received it yesterday and although I will not be using it for a couple of months, I wanted to plug it in and set it up to make sure if there was an issue, I could return it within the 30 day return period. Hopefully I can remember to come back and update this review when I start using it consistently. It should be enough BTU's for my bedroom in the summber. My room is about 12"x12" (144 square foot). ... show more

  • Avoid this seller and LG products
I bought this unit less than a year ago. I was excited to have a new AC unit and did my research. My neighbor also had the same unit and it was so quiet and cooled the room quite nice. I had to wait for my unit to arrive for about 2 weeks, if I remember correct. When I had it installed, the unit cooled the room and then began making a horribly loud noise. I mean horribly loud by no exaggeration. I called LG for help. They made every excuse to blame my installation. The same person who installed my unit, installed my neighbor’s. I was able to manipulate the unit by putting wobble fixers under the unit to lessen the loud sound. It is like only last a couple minutes before being loud again. When I had it in Fan Mode, the unit was quiet. I have since learned the compressor was not welded and bolted down correctly. I didn’t need to buy an expensive fan. I needed an AC unit. LG customer service was frustrating and Amazon said I had to go though LG. Summer was gone and Summer arrived again. The unit still was making the sound and still under warranty. The nightmares of calling LG were once again. Again, they blamed the installation. One LG representative also made accusations of my unit being out of warranty, stating I bought the unit in April and not September. That representative also somehow deleted my product registration from the LG system. Thankfully, I had proof of registration which I forwarded to another LG representative. After weeks and many hours each of the many phone calls made, and LG and Amazon transferring calls and responsibility, new frustrations of not having a receipt from Amazon with enough details, I was finally approved for a replacement. The replacement unit arrived and I had it installed. The unit is not the same unit as my original purchase, it is a cheaper unit with less features. The unit makes a high pitch noise and you can hear the fan rubbing to make a friction wheel like sound in addiction to the high pitch. I let it run with the professional installing the unit present. The noise never stopped. It did not cool the room anywhere in comparison to the other unit that made the horrible loud sound when on COOL. The unit also pushes out the air with a strong toxic chemical smell. I called LG again. I spent days again trying to resolve the issue. I was able to talk to a representative who gathered my info about the new unit and said someone would call me back within 24-48 hours. No one has called me back. With consumer review ratings on LG, I now know not to believe them. Of the many phone calls I made to LG, not once was I able to do the survey that they offer customers based on their service. I don’t mean to sound like a Karen, but this purchase was not a good one. It has been nothing but frustration and disappointment. I basically burned a few hundred dollars and so much time was exhausted and wasted trying to work with both Amazon and LG customer service. ... show more
