    • dark scenes are challenging in brightly lit rooms, but excellent otherwise
For the price, this TV delivers an excellent picture in dark rooms. If there's bright lighting in the room, the matte screen finish helps prevent reflections, but dark scenes will reveal more glare than you might be happy with. And fixed single points like a ceiling light will reflect as a two dimensional X due to the grain of the screen. On a cloudy day with lights off, it's fine for all but the darkest scenes. Picture modes and the AI-based auto-brightness help. I'd buy this TV again for a room with curtains or blinds. But if you like to watch dark scene content in a bright room, you might want to compare to models with darker black levels and less reflective screens. The LG 'magic remote' is a radio frequency remote that doesn't need to be pointed at the TV (but IR remotes will also work if you want to also use an extra old LG or universal remote). The remote's motion pointer feature is really well done. Combined with ARC/eARC HDMI digital surround sound output and CEC volume/power passthrough to an AV receiver, I easily got rid of my 3rd party Harmony smart remote and Roku stick in the back of my AV receiver, and now we do all switching reliably from the LG smartTV and its remote. LG's WebOS 6 is excellent (and better than Samsung's from what I've seen), and lets you install and update any of hundreds of apps. Consolidated search works across all streaming apps. I could not be more impressed with WebOS 6 and this remote, except that I wish the remote had backlighting. And by using the TV's native streaming apps, it natively displays 4k content. With my old way of using an AV receiver for switching audio and video, I was going to have to upgrade to a 4k compatible receiver. But now the TV does it all. And the 4K picture quality is solid. I had thought 4k was a gimmick, but on a screen this big you can actually enjoy 4K. Note that even on an 86" screen, you still have to sit within about 10 feet to start to notice 4k over 1080p. But at farther than 10', this TV's size and price is probably the most economical way to see the full details of 1080p viewing, which is still predominant. The 120Hz motion processing is actually pretty good. I'm annoyed by fast moving content on poor refresh rates, and this TV was smooth enough I never noticed any problems. I use it with an AV receiver and dedicated 5.1 speaker system, but I tested the internal speakers and the sound quality of this TV is actually pretty good. I didn't try the optional Bluetooth surround speakers it will connect to, but that's a pretty cool feature that probably sounds better than a sound bar. ... show more

The remote is weird and I don't like it, but who uses TV remotes anyway? I use my AppleTv remote and I'm sure most people use a universal. The TV itself is fantastic. Great clarity, great colors, obviously great size. Really nothing bad about it.

After reading mixed reviews I was hesitant to buy this. I'm glad I did. I love this TV and I am somewhat picky. The picture quality is very nice. The remote isn't quite as user-friendly as I would like, but it's still not bad. I do wish there was a Roku built in.

Great TV switch from Samsung because Samsung customer service sucks. Anyway it's less expensive and it looks very nice. We had to adjust the color a little at the beginning but it's great now. the apps are very easy to set up and to reach.

    • Very Disappointed
Received the first tv with a cracked screen. Returned and received a second one with a light leak. Returned that for credit. With each return received some sort of snarky email from Amazon insinuating that I had not returned the product in the same condition or I was returning too many products. Ridiculous and untrue. I rarely return anything unless it is broken or doesn't work upon receipt. Tried to call them and see what they were talking about, but no one could tell me. Bought this same tv locally after that. The screen is not broken and it does not have a light leak, but it has countless other issues that are very frustrating. New surround sound must be manually turned on and off, sound constantly has to be re-synced to the picture, picture settings must be reset if you haven't watched the tv for a while. It also resets to the picture setting that makes everything look like a soap opera. What idiot ever thought that was a good default setting? Does anyone like it? Then you have to remember how to reset everything. Their support is useless. The people you get don't know anything about the tv. They just read from a trouble shooting list that you have probably been through a couple of times before you wasted your valuable time to call. I deeply regret this purchase and do not recommend this particular model if they are still selling it. I usually leave a positive response on items I purchase or don't leave one at all if I am not particularly pleased. In this case, I felt it was worth my time to warn others. ... show more

    • Excellent Value, not Perfect
I've had the TV for a couple months now. Overall, a great TV! I would have given it 5 stars but it wasn't perfect. The good: Great Picture- LOVE the huge screen. I don't think I could go back to a mid-40s screen again. Tons of features- don't use much of them as we mainly use Firestick, but lots of options. Passable Sound The bad: The remote control is rather irritating. Two buttons that should not be next to each other are the volume and the home button. I cannot tell you how irritating it is to have to look at the remote to use the volume because if you try it by feel you will end up toggling the mouse/home menu feature by accident. Very bad remote design. Top left of the screen has a couple bright spots on dark scenes. I'll live with it. The Mediocre: Sound is okay. Not great. Definitely going to get a sound bar in the near future. I recommend the TV because it was so reasonably priced, but there are better TVs available for more money. ... show more
