  • Leviton Quality
This right-angle plug is well-designed. Easy to install. Typical of Leviton products. Top notch.

  • Not for solid copper wire 12#
Dont try to use this for #12 solid copper wire. Its meant for only stranded or much thinner copper.

  • convenient angle plug
With our recent purchase of a Keurig individual coffee maker, we needed to shorten the cord to accommodate its location on our kitchen counter and, at the same time, make the cord less noticeable. A random check of our "big box" and other independents for an angled-male grounded plug proved unsuccessful. I Googled the item and found it was available from several manufacturers on Amazon. On opening the site, I found a Levitron angled-male plug offered in white or black. We opted for the white one because our receptacle was white. The plug was designed to accommodate a heavy-duty cord and its fixtures made the attachment both quick and safe. It came apart with three "quick thread" screws which provide ample reattachment of the two components. The plug's standoff also provides an area over which to curl about 8-10" of extra cord to allow for some movement on the counter, if necessary, and conveniently remains hidden from view A good bargain, excellent product, and an Amazon Verified Purchase. ... show more

  • One major drawback
This plug is designed for heavy duty commercial three wire power cords, not for common everyday household extension cords, therefore negative observations about how big it is miss the point. I wanted a shop grade plug and there are three brand name companies to choose from. I actually bought a plug from one of the others because they are the only one that offered one in white, but their wait time was a couple of months and I needed it sooner. The third company only offered black and Leviton’s product is shown as tan or beige, which is not what I wanted. But I took a chance and it turns out that they are using an inaccurate photo – and by doing so that is probably costing them a lot of sales. So to be clear about it, their product photo is wrong. They illustrate it as being a beige or tan color and in fact it is white. Leviton is a brand I trust so that wasn’t an issue. My installation was to shorten the cord on a semi-permanent power strip above my food prep area in my kitchen so it could be plugged in to an adjacent wall outlet only a couple of feet away. Plugging it in at a right angle would make it look built in and the extra thickness of this plug would make it a straight run from the power strip directly into the side of the plug. THE PROBLEM Here’s the major drawback with this product. The other brands have a design in which the plug can be rotated. Leviton does not. The only way you can install this is with the power cord exiting toward the ground pin which is down when used with the common type of duplex outlet. If you have outlets where the ground pin is installed at the top as some codes require then this plug forces you to have your power cord exit straight up. In either case that severely limits how customers can use it and eliminates any possibility of having the cord exit at a right angle or at a diagonal like the other brands offer. THE SOLUTION My solution is based on another person’s comment on this page. He glued the two parts together at the angle he needed. I did something similar. If you rotate the plug about 100 degrees there is one tiny sweet spot where you can install one of the fasteners that hold the front and back pieces together. I would not recommend doing that if you are using this to plug and unplug something on a regular basis but in my case the installation is semi-permanent, I don’t plan on ever unplugging this from the wall outlet so I have less of a concern that it is only being held together by one fastener. As you can see from my pic, unfortunately there is no way I can adjust it to a true right angle, which because of Leviton’s design makes my entire installation look unprofessional. QUALITY While the materials used to make this plug are adequate, I don’t consider them shop grade. The plastic is hard and subject to cracking. That’s not good. I would have expected it to be made from nylon or another more substantial material. Otherwise the components seem okay with solid connection points. SUMMARY I ordered this because my preferred brand had a very long lead time and I assumed that this one was capable of rotating the plug like the other brands. While making such an assumption is on me, it is the fault of the manufacturer for not clearly stating on their product page that this can only be used in one single fixed orientation, which is to have the cable exit from the ground pin side. If that fits your needs I would consider this product to be average. If not I would consider it to be not acceptable. ... show more

  • Almost what I was looking for
This angle plug is the usual Leviton good quality product. It is well made, very easy to do a professional job of connecting to a cord. However, I needed a plug that I could lead a fairly heavy extension cord away from an outlet in a desired direction other than an angle simply lined up with an existing horizontal outlet. There are other plugs that do allow an adjustment to rotate and lock into one of several cord directions. While this plug does do a really good job of keeping the cord close to the mounting surface, it only allows one cord direction away from the outlet. These angle plugs are a bit hard to find so I will be keeping the plug for other applications because of the quality and ease of connecting to a cord. I do like the way that an angle plug carries the weight of a heavy cord without trying to twist itself out of an outlet. ... show more

  • High quality but kind of heavy looking.
Super easy to install. It's a bit chunky for prominent above counter use, but I'm getting used to it.

  • Solid product
I used this to shorten a cord for towel warmer. It was exactly what I was looking for. Be aware that the grounding prong is oriented so that attached cord will go down when plugged into an outlet installed so that grounding receiver is in the bottom.
