Why does charging feel slow? A 16A Level 2 is ~3.8 kW. Expect ~12–18 mi/hr at 240 V (≈4–6 at 120 V). Ideal for PHEVs, renters or homes without a NEMA 14-50, and short daily commutes on a 20-amp circuit. Who is a 16A charger best for? Overnight charging, PHEVs and lower-OBC EVs, renters, or anyone without a 14-50 outlet. Delivers dependable 3.8 kW on a 20-A circuit—great for short daily commutes. The connector is hard to remove—why? Many cars lock the port while charging. Stop the session from the car/app, press and hold the handle release, and pull straight out. If it stays locked, unlock the charge port in the vehicle first. The app/Wi-Fi won’t pair. Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, stand near the charger, and enable Bluetooth & Location during setup. Charging works offline; schedules/logs sync when online. If pairing fails, restart the app and power-cycle the unit. What power supply do I need? Use a dedicated 240 V 20-A circuit with a NEMA 6-20 outlet for full 16 A. It can run on 120 V with the 5-15 adapter up to 12 A (slower). Avoid extension cords and shared circuits.

I purchased this 32A portable charger for my Jeep 4xe, and it has been working great. Using a NEMA 14-50 outlet, it usually takes around 2–3 hours to fully charge my battery. The app is pretty basic, but the scheduling feature is very useful. I set a recurring charging window every Monday and Friday from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM so the car can charge during my off-peak electricity hours. It doesn't charge for the entire six hours—the charging stops once the battery is full. It's been reliable and easy to use, and charging during off-peak hours also helps lower my electricity bill. I purchased this to charge a 2024 Rivian R1S. I've gone through a few charging cycles and am very happy with it. I have it plugged into an outlet in an old garage and I do not have good service here so I was concerned about over drawing current from the outlet. The Rivian portable charger really heats up my outlet. This one, I love because I was able to turn down the current draw to only 10A. It's slower, but I am in no rush and it doesn't heat up my outlets. I confirmed the proper current draw by using the Rivian mobile app. Also comes with a nice wall mount and a good cover to the charging end. Great length of cable and easy mobile app to use. I’ve been using now for multiple months and I love the fact that you can schedule it through the app multiple ways. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that sometimes it feels like it’s not letting all the power go through and you’re charging at a lower rate, but I think it’s more the algorithm and the math that makes it that way. I haven’t noticed that this charges my car, any slower than a normal level two. I would buy again and love the app. ... show more

The base charger functionality works OK, the problem is the App. It has a very basic feature that allows you to schedule charging, but it only turns the charger on or off at one set time daily. That means that if you plug in after the start time it will not start charging. It also will change its charging mode without being told to do so, completely disregarding the charging schedule. And there is only one schedule - no differences for different days of the week or weekend. I bought this to be able to set a charging schedule and for that it is close to worthless. ... show more

    • A nice all round EVSC for your car

This is a nice EVSC, the positive being the on screen display on the charger that gives a status. It can connect through an app to your smartphone which allows scheduled charging. Charging for a specific length of time or just full charge. It also allows you to lock out use unless you activate the charger from your phone app and also to set the amperage for charging so if you are connected to a 240 volt connected supply you can reduce the amperage to as low as 8 amps from a maximum of 32 amps or if you are using a 110 volt supply that needs to be shared the amperage can be reduced to avoid unexpected breaker activation. The only function missing is that it doesn't allow a cap to charging percentage which would have made it invaluable. Great value though and comes with a 110 volt adapter and a storage case that is nice and compact with a size that is smaller than some lunch coolers. On the negative side the clip to secure that charge plug doesn't raise high enough to allow easy release though in the past few uses it has improved a little so many have just needed breaking in. Comes with wall holster and charge head clip with a built in cable holder and of course a storage bag if you want to use it when travelling. It is a 32 amp unit which more ho.es can accommodate without a new breaker panel upgrade. For most home users still sufficient to keep their EV running for commute to and from work etc. ... show more

Great charger, easy plug & play, at a fantastic price. Comes with a nice case, as well as a 120v adapter for portability. Nice & effective wall mount & cord hanger too! Using the full 32 amps, charges our Ioniq 5 from 10-80% in less than 7 hrs. This product is a pain in the BUTT to figure out initially. It does have scheduling, it just takes sometime to figure out. It absolutely does the charging in a timely matter. How to schedule: First thing is to turn off the "quick_start" (that way it doesnt start charging right as you plug it in) Second: Creat a new scene in the Smartlife APP (I named mine " Charger on") Click on "Schedule" Pick the time you want it to come on Press "Once" on the top right and choose the days you want it to come on Press "Next" In the "Then Box" press the + sign Press "Control a Single Device" Press the "Romas EV Charger" Press "Switch" Press "ON" Press "Next" Press "Save" on the bottom Do another SCENE after this (I called mine "Charger Off" do everything the same EXCEPT SWITCH = OFF this time. Hope this helps those out there trying to figure this product out. I have been using this for the past week without issue. ... show more
