Appearance: It's nothing fancy, but it does look good. Despite the very low price, it by no means looks cheap or flimsy. The gooseneck section seems to be zinc plated. The shaft of the stand, light cone and base feel like black powder-coat paint. Assembly: It ships in a surprisingly small package. Five pieces inside. Gooseneck/light, base, and three shaft sections. The three shaft sections are identical in length and threading, so you really can't mess it up. The on/off switch is on the power cord, which runs out of the bottom of the gooseneck section. No need to run it through the shaft. I use mine as a reading lamp. No bulb included. I put a LED bulb in it a does a great job. For price and function, I don't think you can do better. ... show more

I am not one for writing reviews but I had to write one about this lamp. It came through very well packaged. There are three little poles that you screw together and what I loved about this is that there is no wiring going through the polls so you can make this lamp as tall or short as you want Up to about 4 1/2 feet. Then you screw in the silver top lamp and that’s where all the wiring is and I am using it as a plant light. I screw in a plant lightbulb and then I attached a clip lamp I already had to the lamp and now I have a double lamp. I am going to be purchasing a couple more of these lamps just to use in the house. If you point them straight to the ceiling with a full spectrum bulb it absolutely lights up an entire living room. You cannot beat the price and even if you spent your money on a more expensive lamp you would not get any better quality. If I could give it 50 stars I would. My best purchase to date from Amazon and I’ve been purchasing for over 10 years. ... show more

    • Kinda does what it’s supposed to...now, do not buy!

The lamp is nice-OVERALL. It was way too easy to put together right out of the box. The base of it is heavy if you happen to move it around to find right spot. It requires light bulbs that don’t come with the product. The lamp is a little short in height and to me, better for “one area” lighting, but you can rotate and move the head of the lamp. In my case, the part where the silver metal piece meets the black part of the lamp will not stay on no matter what. It is very wobbly and I turned and turned it to try to tighten it to no avail. When I moved the lamp, I picked it up, I almost broke the lamp because it never tightened. It easily came a loose. It was the faulty part of the lamp. Now this lamp feels like I just re-purchased a broken one! I was looking for a sturdy lamp, but I have no choice but to either GLUE IT PERMANENTLY or return. It was just better to glue it(LOL). It is a good lamp for teens, reading by a chair, etc., but to me it is not a lamp that meets my total need. I love that it has a nice on/off switch, holes to keep the lamp/light bulb cool, and the price of the lamp which was on sale. I don’t know if others experienced this, but if you want to purchase this lamp, be aware of these possible issues.UPDATE! I have never posted a DO NOT BUY REVIEW. The lamp completely fell apart and unscrewed by itself-it would unscrew at the base and the connecting parts. It became a broken mess! Lamp worth $5 or less. I’m sorry! If you are looking for a basic reading lamp, then you will not beat this product. I needed a lamp that would fit into a confined space between my recliner for reading in a dark corner and this worked perfectly. It is simple to put together, you can have it out of the box and assembled in 5 minutes. I found that a 9 watt LED bulb works perfectly as it gives out plenty of light and does not get hot. The base is heavy enough to make it stable and the flexible neck gives the adjustment needed. I would have given this review 5 stars but I had to reorder due to the first shipment being damaged. I love this, it is bright, adjustable and so much cheaper than the lamp it replaces. But the most important factor is the light bulb on the "other" lamp was a pronged slide in that when taking out would cut my hand on the bracket. This lamp uses a screw in LED bulb. Perfect, no blood letting.

Nice basic floor lamp. The electrical is the best. The wire comes off 1/4 way down from the top of the lamp and goes to the floor. The light switch is clearly on that wire near the top. No more trying to thread the electrical wire through the whole stand and twisting it like crazy when you put the stand together. The on-off switch is clearly visible coming off the wire near the top of the lamp. I hate constantly having to look for how to turn on or off a floor or table lamp. No problem with this lamp. Its a fine lamp, metal shade is a plus, easy to assemble, compact cfls fit into the shade, light switch dangles from the stand, making it very easy to reach, (opposed to the floor or top of shades knobs), while possibly not as aesthetically pleasing. However, its the wrong lamp for us, we purchased based on a q/a that turns out not to match the lamp received. Be advised the length of the gooseneck is less than one foot, and further investigation of the q/a (from the seller) have the correct measurements.
