Amazing value, very sturdy and comfortable. Silent and smooth swiveling. I love the ability to raise and lower it so I can eat at my kitchen counter with it raised and then lower it down so I can have my feet on the floor and I can watch TV from my counter more comfortably. I rarely give really good ratings the only thing is once you put it together it’s not so easy to get apart and there’s a little decorative ring make sure you put it on before you put the seat into the base. I’ve purchased lots of up to $300 and more stools made of wood and metal they’re all very uncomfortable the screws keep falling out this is amazingly easy to assemble snaps right in to place very well designed. I purchased the shell back chairs and they are beautiful - especially for the money. We are doing post modern industrial in our home and I was a little worried the slight sexy curves of these chairs would be too soft, but they look amazing. They are wider seats than the other styles and perfect for my large American hindquarters 😂 At first I thought they sent the wrong screws, because they seemed too short, but you have to press the stand into the padding while seating the screws. 4 screws and stand this on that - viola! Chairs! Assembly was super easy and I did them myself 🙌🏻👯 The seller even sent extra parts though I didn't request them. I just ordered 2 more for the other side of our island and once they are no longer needed upstairs, we will move them to the basement for guitar play 😊 Thrilled to get such a nice pair of chairs for Really about 1/3 the cost at other places. I weigh 250 currently (I know! 😖) and I'm 5'7", put the chairs together myself and they feel strong and secure 👍🏻 Also, I was worried about chairs damaging our pergo floors, but these have a circular base with a rubber gasket to protect the floors. I don't think you should rock back and forth, as other reviewers have pointed out, but the swivel is strong in this one, my friends 😁Plus, you can hang a Foo Fighters hoodie perfectly on the back 🙌🏻 ... show more

Pros: Look nice Decent price Comfortable Cons: Max height a little wobbly but okay When you sit in it it compresses down a few inches Max height it’s a little hard to get on it especially when it sinks down on you Overall, if they could make it a little sturdier and not have it compress when you sit in it, they’d be perfect. If you plan to use for max height, they do compress shorter than max height when you sit in it, so keep that in mind Wobbling is due to the shaft at full extenstion, not the size of the base ... show more

    • More form than function
Color: A-white
The bottom line is: backed chairs are impractical for bar height seating unless your bar has a foot rest for scooching. Complaints: 1) The gas cylinders compress a full 2 inches when seated. so the actual maximum height is 2" less than advertised. (I'm 6'3" 185) 2) The seat back is mostly pointless. It slopes backward, so leaning against it with your feet tucked under makes you feel like you are striking a pose in an Olympic Freestyle competition. This is at bar height where your feet cannot touch the ground. In a lowered position, you can stretch your feet out on the ground and lean back (slouch) if you wish. 3) The seat back interferes with swiveling. In a normal dining room chair, you sit and then use your feet to scooch the chair closer to an eating position. With a bar height chair, scooching is impossible, so the idea is climb over the back like a traditional stool or swivel into place. However, when pushed close enough for eating, the seat back does not allow much swiveling. Basically, it's very inconvenient to get in and out of these when they are close enough for eating. 4) The useless seat back interferes with pushing the stool completely under the bar. It is possible to lower the seat and then slide it under but not very convenient to be constantly adjusting the height. 5) Lateral play in the cylinder post, especially in the highest position, allows the seat to rock back and forth like a chair with one short leg. For my needs, 3 stars is generous. These chairs look OK, are simple to assemble, are likely more comfortable for a smaller/shorter person, and are inexpensive. Unfortunately, inexpensive is still wasted money because I need to repurchase more practical traditional stools. ... show more
