  • My second one
I purchased this same Lenovo ThinkCentre M72ecomputer from this same seller in April of 2021 to replace an old refurbished Dell I had for a long time. It lasted 2 years, I paid $129 with tax then. This one to replace it was just $97 and it works great. No dvd player installed, BUT, a USB DVD player, Mouse and Keyboard were included all for $97...! I like these old desk tops because they have all the familiar plugs in the back, I can switch them out easily. My first one was running very slow and having pre-crash notices, then it just died. But I ran it all weekend long and all night during the week listening to YouTube sleep wave sounds with external stereo speakers, so it put in a lot of hours in 2 years. This new one that I got to replace it started up perfectly, loaded my Norton Anti-virus and Super Anti-SpyWare and my Chrome browser, some photo editing and an extra browser, it was like a new High Performance Machine. I guess I got a good one not made on a Monday or Friday. :) HERE'S A TIP to extend the life of these old worn refurbished computers. HEAT IS THE MAIN THREAT, I like to remove the side cover and use a Quiet Stainless Steel Fan to keep the Hard Drive and Processor cool. It really helps. About every 4 or 5 months I'll take the open sided computer outside and gently blow out the dust with the leaf blower. This also helps to extend the life, at least 2 years of hard running, for less than $100. GREAT DEAL... ! (check out the pics) ... show more

  • Worked good. Until it didn't.
It's a nice little computor for the money. Here are some things you need to know: 1. No HDMI. It has VGA and DVI video outputs. You can buy DVI to HDMI adapters fairly cheap. About $5-10 USD on Amazon. 2.WiFi isn't original, it's a USB stick that came with it. I expected to use a hardware connection (which it has) so I'm fine with that, although it does seem a little slow, it was nice of them to add that. 3. Came with a keyboard and optical mouse! Not expensive, but functional and unexpected nice touch. 4. Mine didn't have an internal Optical drive, it was USB-powered and external. If you use it, you might want to order a USB multiplier as well. 5. If you have an old favorite keyboard and mouse, the ps-2 connectors and a 9-pin serial port are on the back. 6. The BIOS on this machine is August-2014, so has been updated since manufactured. Now, about that problem: it appears the hard drive failed when I rebooted (after spending a couple hours configuring Windows and getting all set up, and after business hours for AST/SkyTech ... Major Bummer! Amazon tried to provide help but from Lenovo, who has no idea about the current configuration of the computor, and the original warranty is long expired anyway. Going into the boot-up (Power-On) menu didn't reveal anything wrong, but the hard drive did not show up, and the drive constantly makes soft clicky noises, like it's searching for the boot sector. So I think I had a hard drive failure! According to Lenovo, there's a diagnostic mode as well, but I can't seem to find it. I will update this review with the results of customer service, hopefully tomorrow! Update, 3-APR-2021: No response from Skytech or ASTsys. Called them 3 times, never got through to anyone. Voicemenu says the standard "Due to high call volume, blah blah blah...". Found the diagnostic mode. F1 key held on boot-up gets you in. It can't see the Hard Drive at all. I ordered a replacement computor, but if i turn it in with a hard drive that has my passwords and other personal info on it, what then??? Now I need to wipe the drive, but can't if the boot sector is gone. It's well known that data can be recovered with special equipment and software even if the boot sector is gone. Very concerned at this point, and not happy. ... show more

  • Works for what I needed
This came very well packaged inside a standard box, but boxed inside in a sturdy box. Since I'm using it to work from home and have to be hardwired, I didn't need the Wi-Fi adapter, so I can't speak on its performance there. I was able to easily connect my dual monitors with a VGA and USB to HDMI connector. So far, a month in, and it's performing as needed. Sometimes it lags a little when logging into my work desktop, but it's a beast and sucks a lot of memory for the process...this is to be expected, and co-workers using new machines are having the same problem. I also love the footprint of this tower. It's smaller than the old monster I had sitting on my desk, and since it can sit upright or be laid on its side, I've got it currently acting as a stand for my second monitor until I cave and get an actual dual monitor stand. All in all, for a budget option, I would buy this tower again. ... show more

  • Solid Machine, get your own wireless receiver
The machine is solid. Lenovo makes solid desktops and, for the money, this is absolutely fine if you're doing anything besides gaming or high-power digital media, but the specs should have made that apparent. Wireless: Do yourself a favor and spend $20-40 to buy a real USB wireless connector. The terrible little Tenda connector that (sometimes) comes with the machine will likely have spotty connections at best (mine dropped connection at least once per day). Since replacing it, internet has been great. Mouse/Keyboard: The mouse is wireless, the keyboard is not. Seemed like an odd thing so I just bought a cheap wireless keyboard & mouse. I think the seller lists the mouse as wireless, but if your tower is going to be more than a few feet from your keyboard, that's going to be a problem. New to Windows 10: If this is your first windows 10 pc, some weird hardware connection things that may seem like an issue with your computer can actually be software issues that Microsoft hasn't bothered fixing. Wireless printing is a continuous issue, and it may require some googling to figure out how to set it up. Same with using multiple screens or using an HDMI converter. ... show more
