  • It is stiff and metal pieces are coming off of machined tilt section.
I plan to use this to sharpen mower blades w a file. It gives a better angle so that I am not trying to lean over the blade w a regular plane. Biggest problem with this is that I am having to use a hammer to get the vise to turn. I have pulled off the "brake" which anchors the tilted vise at a specific angle and I have oiled the contacting steel parts thinking that would make for smoother movement. NO. In fact the machined parts are so tight that pieces of metal are breaking off. I don't think it is operating as it should which I believe would be smooth rotation. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but this is a pretty simple device that should rotate in its cradle with no more than harsh language being needed when new. ... show more

  • Very good (overall and for the price)
Had these for few months now. Work perfect. Smooth, no binding when clamping, no play when clamped. Great for drill press or table-top milling machine (as part of milling table topper). No complaints - great vice. Had a snag when shipment got lost first time around, but seller quickly rectified the issue by shipping another one, so no complaints there. Great seller actually. Ethical. ... show more

  • Got it but missing one of the balls that secures the angle adjustment lock

  • Not expected Wilton quality.
This product arrived with two manufacturing defects: 1). The scale that shows the inclination of the vise fell right off- it was barely glued on. 2) The ball on the handle of the lead screw that tightens the vise was drilled too large so it didn't stay on the handle. I repaired both items because I didn't want to wait for a replacement, but I'm really disappointed in the poor quality control from Wilton. I could have gotten better results with a vise from Harbor Freight. It's depressing because Wilton used to be a solid brand. ... show more

  • Unexpected craftsmanshop
I was surprised at the good quality of this vise. I have shopped extensively for an affordable vertical vise and settled on this one because of cost and Prime shipping (this puppy is heavy to ship!). The typical Chinese floppy cardboard box around the vise itself was a red flag and my heart sank. But then I opened it! What a sight. This thing is beautiful. It's well made, tightly constructed and with no play in the moving parts. I do a lot of small metal forging and this is much better than the Bonny Doone vise already in the shop and the jaws are about the same size in area. This vise is completely adjustable with two ways to secure the angles. It has a small footprint on the bench. I'm very happy to have purchased this tool. ... show more

  • IMPORT QUALITY TO MY DISMAY
I knew this Wilton CR3 (11753) vise was an import from Asia, but was hoping that the actual manufacturer would fabricate according to Wilton's specifications. Not a chance. Other import vises similar or identical but at 1/2 the price have the same quality. Upon opening the box, I found the little box inside another from Amazon and another item ordered loosely packed without bubble wrap or anything preventing a heavy item/box from shifting inside the bigger box. The little box with the vise was pretty much packed. Upon examining the vise and moving the angle feature, a chip in a corner came off (see pics) and so is the 90 degrees pin setting hole. The pin to hold settings arrived bent. Not good quality. I cannot return and ship back the vise, as I live outside continental USA. I'll have to bite the bullet and see if the vise at least has a working process. ... show more

  • Ok. Not a masterpiece.
Mostly ok. The fit of the screw threads in the female threads is on the loose side. The fit of the screw in the moveable jaw was just plain sloppy. Between the two, it was so loose it annoyed me enough that I made a bushing to fit between the screw end and the jaw before I ever used it. The threads themselves I’ll just live with. It wasn’t that expensive. Maybe the jaw people and the screw people didn’t agree on hole size, probably off by at least a sixteenth in diameter. Someday I’ll measure it and update my review. It was otherwise ok. I added a picture..the pen points to the bushing I added. The hole ID on the moving jaw is 0.481, the OD on the screw end was 0.413. That’s crap workmanship. The bushing OD is 0.479. Much better. It’s a slight press fit on the screw so it stays put and doesn’t interfere with the little allen setscrew that keeps the screw in the jaw. ... show more

  • You won’t go wrong with this purchase. You will love it.
I really like this vise. From a great manufacturer. Very nice vise. Heavy enough to use for small jobs without needing to mount it. I live how you can set this at different angles to get that part your working on just in the right position you need.
