    • A versatile light!
I’m in the process of finishing the interior of my studio/workshop and I’m always on the lookout for devices to improve and enhance the place. I saw this “StarMoitic LED Desk Lamp for Home Office, Wireless Remote Control Light, Computer Desk Light” recommended on Amazon and I was intrigued. I tell this same tale in many of my reviews that I recently had botched cataract surgery and ended up with impaired vision. The “StarMoitic LED Desk Lamp” interested me because it advertised not only a flexible gooseneck design but also was adjustable by remote control from very cold light to much warmer tones. POLs (Plain Old LEDs) really hurt my eyes, especially after a long day looking at a project. So, I hoped this might give my eyes some relief. The light seems well made and attaches firmly to my workbench with a heavy-duty clamp. I learned how heavy-duty when I clumsily dropped the thing on my big toe! The neck bends to many positions and the two light arms are flexible as well. The remote control is a bit odd, however. It’s a round-shaped thingy that seems to have a slight delay when pressing the buttons but that’s probably because we are all such impatient beings these days. I want it and I want it immediately! Yeah, take a break. The remote works fine even with a slight delay. So, my studio/workshop continues to be a work in progress so I hadn’t had the opportunity to actually USE the “StarMoitic LED Desk Lamp” for a real project but then I was invited to join a Zoom group of writers for an evening of readings and critique. As we have had about 10 minutes of sunshine so far in 2024 in Pennsylvania, I look as etiolated as a daisy accidentally grown under a bucket. And as Zoom is just about the most unflattering media there is, I either needed a Hollywood makeup artist or I would have to wear a brown paper bag over my head to be presentable. Then I thought of the “StarMoitic LED Desk Lamp” and cleverly positioned it behind my computer and facing me, set to low light but in the warmer range. To my delight, I didn’t need to find any greasepaint to look human for the online conversation. I was gently lit in warm tones. It was not what I intended when I ordered the “StarMoitic LED Desk Lamp” but I’m very pleased with this particular application since I’ve been invited to join the writers group ongoing! Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my Close-up… I always enjoy getting new and interesting stuff from Amazon especially when I can find new purposes for the product. It took me a while to find the right spot for this lamp, and if it looks a little crooked in the pictures, that's because it is. But it's not due to any issue with the lamp. I had been wanting to shed some light on one of my CD racks, but the rack doesn't have the best surface for clamping. I'll likely keep working on this in order to make it more secure. The light has a wide variety of color temperatures ranging, apparently, from 3000K to 6500K. I tend to prefer warmer light, as I find it easier on the eyes. Sometimes that means there's a trade-off with actual illumination. With this lamp I find that the warmest setting still provides plenty of clear light. And if I go with the coolest setting, it's not as harsh on my eyes as with other lamps. Because this is operated via remote, I was able to place it behind that rack, in what would be an unreachable place if I were relying on something like a switch on the cord. The gooseneck is very firm and holds its position. And the ability to swing those two light sources into an angle that provides the most lighting for my scenario is a huge plus. The remote needs to be paired with the lamp initially. After that I thought the remote was being finicky, not always responding to button presses. But what I believe is happening is that you must first wake the remote by tapping the power button, after which you can turn on or off the lamp with a second tap. For changing the brightness and the color temperature, you can tap for very incremental changes, or long press for a faster reaction. It also has a timer button, but I haven't used that yet. In all, it illuminates a large area, can be positioned multiple ways, has a strong clamp, and I'm very pleased with it. ... show more

My office desk is in a pretty dark corner and i needed an easy to operate light that wouldn't take up too much space. I was also looking for one that I could brighten or dim as needed and again....easy access was the key since i have dual monitors that take up most of the back half of the desk. It took me a while to find one that would work (I even tried wall sconces) ---but it was well worth the wait. This light is absolutely perfect for what i needed. It clamps easily and securely on the back panel of my desk so it doesn't take up ANY of my limited space, it has an almost rubber like flexible (but sturdy) pole so i can manipulate the neck over the monitors and keep the main focus of the light exactly where i need it, and it has a very responsive, black circular remote control that looks nice, doesn't take up too much space, and allows me to control the power, timer, color temperature, and brightness of the light at any time at the touch of a button. It's absolutely everything i was looking for and so far, has worked perfectly. Thank said...please note that it's VERY important you do not lose the remote control. Without it, I don't see how you'd be able to do anything except turn it on and off by unplugging it. ... show more

    • Good light, bad clamp.
I really want this light to be great because the brightness is excellent, the remote control is amazing, and the flexibility is really good. The clamp is oversized and makes it hard to install on a lot of desk. If the clamp were just replaceable or lower profile, this would be a 5-star item.

The lamp provides excellent, bright light that is perfect for working and studying. I am a teaching student, so I am frequently using my home office for both work and study. When I am not doing that, I have creative hobbies like painting miniatures. The dimmable feature allows for customization based on what I am doing at the moment. I can angle the light and control it with the remote for even more flexibility.
