This is a heavier duty mat than others I have tried. The edges hold up better also. We have one dog who would always tip out her food bowl and would then eat off the floor. Now I use the mat instead of the bowl. She is very happy and so am I. I have had this mat for many years. I no longer have dog food all over the floor. I purchased another mat for our puppy and his bowl is no longer scooted all over the place. The mats wash off easily, dry off easily and roll up till the next meal. The XXL is big enough to hold our dog's food bowl along with his big water bowl and his additional large automatic water dispenser. It keeps our dog's slobber and water dribbles off our hardwood floors. It is easy to clean and doesn't stain. The reason I took a star off is, that the lips along the sides are not stiff enough, thus allowing our dog to push his bowls over them and off the mat.
