It is a little basic as far as the slides but my nephew loves it. It is build strong and the picture is good. The magnifying ability is good not as high as I would like but it is great for small kids. It is good for educational values and he thinks it is cool.

Super fun for my oldest. It’s not the greatest quality camera but can still get some great shots! I only am docking a star for the quality but for the price it would be expected. This is a great microscope for kids. It is portable and is very easy to set up even for kids. Kids can pick up any sample and try to look at it. It keeps my 8-year-old engaged. She has picked up rocks and flowers to look at them under the microscope. It also has some prebuilt slides that are informative. It has options to take pictures of the sample that my kids love. It has some games that may not be useful from the perspective of parents but keep kids engaged with the instrument. This does not have higher magnification and may not be as useful for bigger kids or any scientific work but it is a good device to bring interest in the field. My daughter has wanted one of these for years. Our plan was to gift it to her after our new baby was born. We had purchased it well ahead of our baby’s due date and left the box unopened so my daughter could open it herself. We gave it to her yesterday, but it didn’t work. We discovered that one of the batteries were rusted and the section for holding the battery was also rusted and crumbled apart when removing the rusted battery. The microscope is completely unusable. The toy was stored inside our home devoid of moisture, so it must have arrived damaged. We’ve missed the return window, so now we’re stuck with an expensive toy that does not work and a heartbroken 6-year-old. ... show more
