  • So far so good
Size: Mower Style: Mower
I research EVERYTHING I buy online because returns are a pain, debated an electric vs gas mower for weeks, while watching the backyard weeds grow. At the end of the day, for just over $100 (= paying someone else to mow twice) I decided to go for it, with the expectation it won’t last forever but should probably get at least a year out of it, and so relieved I’m DONE trying to fix gas mowers that won’t start and no more gas, oil, spark plugs, starter cords, filters to deal with. I’m a woman in my mid-40’s, not totally out of shape but don’t hit the gym ever, I’m 5’4” (my last gas mower was hard to push with a handle way too tall). With that in mind, hopefully this will help if you’re on the fence… Pros: 15 minutes from opening box to ready to mow. Easy set-up. Mowed my overgrown backyard with ease, no bogging down or clogging like the gas mower. Sounded like a regular lawnmower to me (some reviewers mentioned electric mowers were quieter but I didn’t notice that & wear earbuds anyway). Nice change breathing in only the smell of freshly cut grass without gas. Very lightweight (lighter than any carpet/steam cleaner I’ve had/used), easy to lift & carry. Easy to maneuver & push, despite not being self-propelled, because it’s so light. The handle folds forward so it takes up very little space. I only used it once for a couple hours to mow the backyard, & didn’t really find any cons per se, but a few other factors I considered when choosing THIS mower: The cord will take a little getting used to, I’ve mowed grass since I was a young teenager (30+ yrs), this is like a combo of vacuuming & mowing grass, by no means difficult just different. My yard isn’t small (over 1/2 acre, 100’ cord barely reached from the house to the back corner), most people wldnt recommend/use a corded mower for this size backyard, but I’ve never used an electric mower, needed a mower asap & wanted to invest the least possible, knowing I can upgrade in the future when I have a little more to invest in a cordless if I decided I liked electric better (my dad paid $600 for a new cordless mower last year, I didn’t have that much to spend right now & didn’t know how it would work here vs his small, flat yard by the beach). Reviews for mowers with bags said they get back-heavy/tip as the bag fills up, I never bag grass clippings so no bag was fine with me (figured that might also lower the price). There was a $20 coupon when I purchased so with the $27 Amazon 100’ extension cord, I paid around $140 total, less than half the cost of a comparable gas mower (a gas straight push mower is in no way comparable to this, I mowed a 1-acre yard with a push mower all summer a few years ago & it was pure hell in July/August in Georgia) & there are no ongoing costs for gas, filters, spark plugs, etc. In summary, IMHO this mower’s a good deal & definitely worth a try. However, I can’t speak to longevity as it literally arrived & was used today. Rest assured, if my opinion changes over the coming weeks, as it’ll be used at least once or twice weekly as we move into summer (I have 2 dogs & keep the grass short because of fleas, snakes, etc), I’ll definitely update my review accordingly. ... show more

  • gets the job done with less maintenance and oils

Plug n play. Have a good extension cord and be sure not to run over it. Gets the job done. No assisted push but light enough for just about anybody to operate.

  • Easy Assembly & Cuts Like a Champ (2024)
Size: Mower Style: Mower
This LawnMaster corded electric mower is a fine choice for any size lawn, provided you have an extension cord long enough. It's easy to assemble and handled my overgrown lawn (taller than knee-high) with no problems on the first use. While it doesn't boast the features of some older models, like the pivoting handle on my grandma's trusty 30+ year-old corded electric mower (which sadly, they don't seem to make anymore), this LawnMaster is a solid and dependable option. Pros: Easy to assemble - A plus for those who aren't handy. Handled tall grass well - Even on my neglected lawn, the mower performed well. Seems durable - Based on initial impressions, the mower feels like it will last a long time with proper care. Affordable - I would be willing to pay $150-$200 range. Cons: Plastic body - I would prefer a metal body for durability. Non-pivoting handle - The handle doesn't pivot in the middle, making maneuvering a little cumbersome. This was a feature I particularly appreciate on my grandma's mower, which has a handle that will pivot in the middle, allowing for easy direction changes without worrying about running over the cord. Foam grip - Foam grips tend to deteriorate over time and become sticky. Additional Notes: I've only used the mower once, so long-term durability is yet to be determined. ... show more

  • Favorute lawnmower so far :-)
Size: Mower Style: Mower
I laughed hysterically telling my cousin and my ex about this lawnmower. I feel like I beat the system or found a loophole and won the lottery. To make sure you understand the conditions I’m dealing with, let me start it by telling you that I weigh 95 lbs, I’m 5” tall, I lift weights almost daily and usually run a few mikes at least twice a week, and I have a yard that’s 99 ft x101 ft (I think that’s just the back… I don’t think that’s either side or the front). I live in the NE of the US so our summers range from about 71°-101° F I think. I live on my own and don’t think I can afford to pay someone to now my lawn every week. Long story: When I first bought my house in 2008, my mom bought me a gas push lawnmower (not self-propelled). It was a bit of a workout to use, but what was challenging for me was the pull cord which always made my sides hurt after a while or made me have to get my boyfriend to start it. I also didn’t know what amounts of the necessary liquids had to go in it or how to prime it. He had to oversee all of that. That pump button didn’t have instructions on it. After we got married, my husband started paying a crew to mow the lawn and got a Ryobi self-propelled electric mower for when they weren’t available. After divorce, my husband sold the mower and moved out. I spent $400 on a Ryobi electric push lawnmower of my own (not self propelled). I did fine with it and had to use I think 2 batteries to cut the whole yard. I have three for when the grass gets too high because of too much rain, too much overtime, or too much homework (I’m in school and I work full time). It could be an extra workout pushing the lawnmower after running 7-26.2 miles or lifting weights for 3 hours, but usually a nap just before was all I needed. About a month ago, the mower stopped working. It didn’t matter which battery I put in it, it wouldn’t start or it would start but turn off after a few seconds or a few minutes. I put it in Home Depot’s repair shop and was told it would be a month and a half before they could even look at it. My brothers have let me borrow their Ego self-propelled mowers a couple times since then. They’re nice but they’re also $800 and they’re heavy, so yay for self-propelled mowers, but I can’t afford to buy my own and my brothers’ mowers are hard to get in and out of a car. I decided to buy another cheaper lawnmower. I wanted one that could cut at the same 4” height, fully electric since I seriously injured my psoas a few times over the past couple years (same place) and can’t be fooling with a pull cord now. I needed it to be cheap otherwise I might as well not bother with the repairs of the other mower. This mower came up in my search along with the Fiskars Stay Sharp 18” push reel mower. A friend suggested I go with this one thinking that even with my athletic lifestyle, a push reel mower might be too exhausting to use regularly on my size yard. When it arrived, I actually picked up the box with one hand! After opening the box, all I had to do was lift the push bar into place and screw the bolts to lock it in position. I bought a couple 12 gauge extension cords, plugged it in, and it started right up. Pushing this thing feels almost like vacuuming. It’s SO lightweight. It makes a grinding noise when I let the trigger go and it sounds like something got caught underneath, but the manual mentioned this so I know it’s normal. This mower cuts better than anything I’ve ever used. The yard looks like I used a laser to cut straight across the grass. My only disappointment is that I only have one outdoor plug on my little old house. I’ll need more extension cords until I can get my ex to come over and teach me how to put in more outdoor plugs (he’s an electrician). Aside from that, I LOVE this mower. No need to recharge batteries, haul on pull cords, mix and pour in fluids, or anything. Oh, I do have to keep moving the cord out of the way, but after getting all those don’ts, what’s one do? This mower was inexpensive and does the job better than my two previous mowers with less exhaustion on my part. Long story short: I highly recommend this mower. To everybody. ... show more

  • Self destructed after one season
Size: Mower Style: Mower
Mows well when it's working. By the second summer mowing season it started having issues. Essentially, the insides are made from cheap plastic. After it locked up (stopped working) I took the top off and all the plastic had melted and fused together. Don't buy this junk.
