I purchased this thermometer because I wanted something high quality instead of buying cheaper ones frequently. When this worked, it was noticeable faster than the cheaper options and I really enjoyed it. However, after just a few months of use it stopped reading temps. I sent an email to the seller and they have never responded. I gave this a 1* star rating, not solely because this stopped working shortly after purchase, but the fact that I can't get ahold of the seller. I bought 4 of these for xmas gifts after reading Cooks Country review. The thing the reviews don't tell you is there is no warranty or support for the product. THE SELLER DOES NOT RESPOND. They don't care. This product WILL NOT last over time and is too expensive compared to others.

    • Went a little flaky for a bit

Bought this and was excited to have a quality, fast thermometer. Used it for chicken on the grill and it worked perfectly. A few days later I was doing some pork on the grill and when I turned it on, the temperature reading fluctuated wildly from 90-400ish. I turned it off and on a few times and in a panic, ended up removing the battery and reset it. It seemed to have stabilized. I've used it a few times since then and it seems to be okay, but it sometimes doesn't "lock" the temperature. It eventually settles down, but it is a bit annoying. I'm removing a star because of that. I don't feel like going through the hassle of returning it for replacement, so we'll see. I can tell when it freaks out, so I work through it. Testing the temperature in boiling water shows that it's accurate when it's settled, so I'm just living with it. I'd say it's a fluke and would still generally recommend this thermometer. ... show more

    • Beware on induction

Bought this to replace an old $10 digital thermometer. This one promised to be very fast to read and high quality. The biggest issue for me is that it simply will not work on our Bosch induction cooktop. From what I can gather the electromagnetic pulses interfere with the touch sensor on the thermometer you use to ‘hold’the temperature reading, so basically it is completely useless in the cooktop. I have tried shielding the unit with my hand and that seems to work but it is not practical. I have seen the suggestion online is to just remove the pan from the cooktop to take a reading, but although that would work maybe for steaks etc. it is no good for jam, caramel etc where you want to constantly measure temperature to reach hard ball etc. I really can’t understand why for a ‘premium’ product it does not include internal shielding for induction cooktops. The probe is very stiff to open and the plastic does not feel very strong. Also the backlight which is supposed to turn on with a quick shake I find very difficult to activate. It does come on but only after repeated hard shaking. All up not great for such a relatively expensive purchase. I really can’t understand the vale compared to cheap options. ... show more

This is a very well made product. It reads extremely fast and is easy to read. The lighted display works well. It's easy to clean. I'm very impressed. The display automatically flips over in case your left handed or right handed. It has a hold feature to keep the reading from changing. The tip is sharp to pierce meat easily. I like this a lot. The only drawback is the cost but if it lasts a long time, I'm fine with that. It has a magnet so you can stick it to the grill (not the hot part obviously). I've accidentally dropped the grill lid more than once which caused it to knock the thermometer to the deck and it hasn't broken yet. ... show more

This thing is super fast, accurate and reliable. I didn't want to drop $100+ on a thermometer....I know those would be great but figured I could stay away from a name brand and still get great quality. This is it!!! It's typically listed at $55 which in itself is a deal but I was fortunate enough to snag one for $35 during a flash sale. Best BBQ purchase I have ever made. I'm definitely satisfied with this purchase. I actually purchased two (orange and green). The readings are very quick, and they feel pretty accurate (without doing any scientific verification). The operation is pretty simple. I love the magnetic in the back. I can stick this on my microwave, which is right above the wall oven. So, it's right at hand when I need it.
